  1. I’m suffering the same issue on my Octavia Combi MY’15. Have you got any new feedback from Škoda? Thank you in advance!
  2. Axkid Minikid is another excellent option for extending rear facing. I have already considered the same approach that you have mentioned but, at least in the Octavia, the gap under the rails only have a few milimeters and I'm not sure if its room enough for going through with the tether. Anyway, a visit to the dealer, in order to unscrew rail bolts and setting the tethers could be the definitive solution for this issue. Hope you can get a smart and safe solution!
  3. I’m going to have her in a rear facing seat until she gets a weight of 25 kg (5-6 years) because it has been scientifically demonstrated that, for children’s neck, it is safer than any other seating position in case of frontal impact, the most common kind of accident on a car. You can find information about this topic on the following links: http://csftl.org/why-rear-facing-the-science-junkies-guide/ http://www.rearfacing.co.uk/facts.php http://www.thecarcrashdetective.com/2017/03/a-guide-to-swedish-child-car-seat-safety-for-americans.html/
  4. Have you finally sorted out this issue? Any reference from original accessories for a safe tethering? I’m about to buy a Britax Multitech II and I’m going to face the same problem. In my particular case, this seat is intended to be used by my daughter from an age of 36 months up to 5-6 years old. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and your personal experience!
  5. Next week, I will get mine replaced, for the very first time. They are 'D' specification and they have been discreetly leaking since the car was new. After two years, I decided to get them checked in the 30.000 km inspection. In spite of the minimum signs of oil presence, dealer was willing to provide a guarantee substitution as soon I asked for it. Have you got any updates about successful revisions? Thanks and regards.
  6. I have a similar experience with my 1.8 TSI DSG, nowadays with almost 19,000 km. Not always audible at the same range of revs, but perceptible when you demand a strong acceleration. I will check it at the dealer on the next regular inspection (30,000 km). Regards
  7. Most of the problems suffered by the OP sound familiar to owners that had purchased their Octavias before MY'15. Sadly, nowadays new car models, VAG or not, come into the market without enough time for performing comprehensive reliability tests. Hope your nightmare will end soon.
  8. I replaced the original ones, Pirelli Cinturato P7, at the dealer, before using the car for first time, because I was looking for a more effective tyre in terms of wet performance. Then, I preferred riding Michelin's Pilot Sport 3. Despite it's not a cheap tyre, it is impressive in wet weather, very good in dry condition, not specially noisy and with a reasonably wear for being a quite sporty tyre. After 16.000 km, with no rotation, they still have around half life on the front side and 80% on the rear one. If your annual mileage is not high, this, or the new PS4, could suit your needs.
  9. My Octavia warned last week about low key's battery. This advice was produced only 15.000 km / 11 months after used for the very first time. I guess that KESSY system is the responsible of this, in my opinion, excessive battery consumption. Regards.
  10. A year ago I had to face the same question and, finally, I decided to go for a Combi Elegance 1.8 TSI DSG because: · DSG 7 on 1.8 TSI vs DSG 6 on vRS: one more gear means lower fuel consumption and a very relaxed cruising in motorway. In addition, DQ200 gearbox doesn’t need the regular maintenance (changing oil is due after 60,000 km) that DQ250 requires. I’m covering around 20.000 km/year and I guess that running costs are quite better than vRS. · The rear multilink was a must, so only 1.8 TSI or 4x4 versions were options, as well as the vRS. · The support of the money gap between Elegance and VRS contributed to a fully loaded configuration: Bixenon + AFS +Led, Columbus, CANTON, front and rear heated seats, power-adjustable driver's seat, PARK ASSIST 2.0, Optical Parking Assistant, KESSY, ACC, rear airbags, panoramic roof, sports chassis, OEM tow bar, extended warranty, etc. (the extensive list goes up to 38 options). · I love its sleeper aesthetics. No one could expect the potential under the bonnet and, sometimes, it’s funny to watch puzzled faces in the mirror. After 10.000 km, I’m very satisfied with the Octavia. It runs smoothly, the handling is good enough for my driving style and every piece of kit performs as expected. Despite I do not miss power, I must recognise that those drivers used to powerful old school turbo engines could find this configuration a bit bland. Anyway, if I had to highlight relevant drawbacks, the low quality of fabric and leather trims and the non-supporting design of the backrest of front seats should be the most important ones. Good luck with your decision!
  11. Once in 7 months and just for replacing the windscreen, scratched by a projection, after being irresponsible overtaken by a driver without any clear idea about safe following distance. No problem at all after 10,000 km of happy ownership.
  12. I guess that the key issue is more linked to cost savings than any other mechanical or physical question. In fact, if you have a look under the bonnet of any Audi A3 with petrol engine, you'll find not only soundproofing cover, but also a nice supporting strut.
  13. No problems at all with mine (Estate) after 7 months and 9.000 km. I'll keep watching!
