  1. Thank you all very much for your help, I'm very impressed
  2. Thank you all so far, very kind The golf has been on a bit of a journey this year:
  3. Where would I find the aircon pipes (stupid question perhaps but I'm new to the Yeti!). It's a Mk1 Golf, with breathed on mk3 tdi engine and running gear!
  4. Hello, We today have picked up a second hand Yeti from our local main dealer, so far so good, although pulling into the drive on the way home I heard some metal scatter across the road. I got out and found this: Does anyone recognise it? There are no markings or anything? Our drive is off the entrance to the development we live on so it could well be from another car? Anyway, here is the Yeti (my wifes), next to my car...
  5. Update, it's all sorted. Thanks for your help!
  6. I am using aftermarket component speakers. I wired them up as before but to no avail-I was using the adaptors to the cross over then cross over to speaker and tweeter, but there is noise everywhere but there! Ill check with another cross over (only just replaced the drivers side speakers, so passenger side's still boxed!) to rule that out, if no luck I'll borrow a multimeter!
  7. Hello, Is this the case for Octavias mk1s too? Thanks
  8. I changed the loom over (the plug on the lock was a right sod) and bingo I have an led, and locking door on the remote, happy days! However,it has come at the sacrifice of my front drivers side speakers... I'm debating bypassing the loom wiring for the speakers now Really confused!
  9. Thank you, that makes perfect sense - I'll do what you suggested tonight!
  10. That's what I thought. I will take the door card off again later and double check with my existing one - there doesn't appear to be any new connectors or anything from where the grey and blue wire goes from one into two for example. I guess (in an optimistic way) it could be someone's extra protection! Ideally I could find a decent picture of a new/known good loom, but I can't find one anywhere.
  11. It has a fabric wrap over it which seems to be keeping the loom bunched together, however at theose points I mentioned the wires were wrapped in duck/duct tape. I took the duck tape off and had a look. The wires under this tape were stripped and bunched together - it looks quite a neat job, and there are marks from where they look to have been crimped. Not being a "wire man" I'm not sure if this helps? Thank yhou so much so far though!
  12. Thank you. There was an oval cover and it covered two screws. Next question really is has my "new" loom been butchered? Are the brown cables meant to be joined together and wrapped in cable (in the door end of the loom), and the brown and yellow cables towards the car end of the loom? Also, there is a grey and blue wire which splits from one wire into two? I can't find any pictures and forgot to look when I had the door card off last night, doh! Thanks again.
  13. Thank you very much, that's tomorrow lunchtime sorted then!
  14. Ok thank you, is this easy to get to? Looking at my "new" loom there are a few brown cables, and further along brown and yellow cables connected together and covered in what seems to be duct tape, is this normal?
  15. Hello, A slight update - I had a dig around and found a broken wire in the door which I fixed, but this only cured the light on the door which is quite annoying! I removed the two screws for the panel directly above the pedals and had a look/feel about but couldn't see where the connector would go, I saw the relays etc etc, could I further, more idiot proof info? Thanks!
  16. Thank you, sorry my terminology was a little flakey! So the loom unplugs around where it goes through the door? Thanks!
  17. Bowders1 I mean the whole of this seems to have been replaced, and looks to be in good condition: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-OCTAVIA-MK1-RIGHT-DRIVER-OFFSIDE-REAR-POWER-WINDOW-REGULATOR-/161201307977?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item258858c149 However the loom end has corroded connectors.
  18. When I had a dig about at the weekend it seemed the door/window motor has been replaced at some point (the bit which has a big connector, with the corroded pins) as it has white writing all over it! The pins on the actual motor itself look fine, but not so much in the loom. I will check all my codes at lunch time. Thanks for your help so far!
  19. Hello! I've got the issue with the drivers side door not locking on the keyfob, but with the key. The interior light works, but puddle light and lock led doesn't. I bought the car like this and it came with a replacement loom. When poking about this weekend to upgrade the door speakers I noticed that a few pins from the door control unit had corroded, and cleaning with contact cleaner did nothing. So, my questions are - is it likely to be the loom, and if so how hard is it to replace? Thanks!
  20. Thank you! A question I forgot to ask is where is a good place to buy parts from? Also, is there a website which has assembly drawings / parts listed?
  21. Hello I thought I should introduce myself and say thanks for the wealth of information on here so far! I've been looking for a vrs estate for a month or so, and I picked one up on Sunday. It's an ex forum members car guessing from the sticker in the back window - a Kent number plate ending 03ULW. Anyway, she's currently getting the waterpump and cambelt changed and a service before I start using it. Upon viewing the car I tool my OBD scanner and saw the 17705 and 17545 codes, which I'm getting my garage to have a small investigation into as it's not bringing up the EML. This as well as the drivers side door not on the central locking/drivers side mirror/interior light problem, but she came with the loom to replace the door loom. This doesn't put me off - I've got a mk1 golf with a mk3 golf td engine in which has kept me busy and I like a challenge! Anwyay, I'll update this post with pics come the weekend! Hello, and thanks again!
  22. Can anyone recommend me a garage in the South Oxfordshire area? I'm slap bang between Oxford and Reading!
