  1. Ok. Can somebody please tell me how to work out whether I have TRW or Koyo configuration. I'm pretty sure its the first. As my car is an early model 2001. I love fixing things but cars are really very new to me only been driving just over a year. Also is there anyone on the forum who could help me with this. I don't fancy going to the dealership they don't seem interested in helping me here in Telford. Thanks
  2. Would this one work. I'm not sure what type of pump it is. Here I just have to find a cable. Thanks
  3. Does anyone on here have a detailed guide on how to removed old angle sensor and cable, and how to refit new one.
  4. Hi, I just recently got a warning light for power assisted steering on my dashboard. Managed to get it hooked up to a VAG com machine. Error reads: Fault code: 01290 Description: Reference voltage Assisted Steering State: Short circuit to earth Short circuit to earth in the line connection from the power steering sensor to the control unit Power Assisted steering operating in emergency mode. Steering definitely heavier. One thing I have noticed is that the error goes after cold start and always returns shortly after using steering wheel. If engine has been of for a while. My battery is serviceable. Terminals require cleaning. Earth from batter to body looks rusty. Has anybody got any experience of this issue and what will remedy the problem? Looking to get my alternator refurbished if possible its a bit noisy possible bearing fault. If not then new Bosch replacement. Tests indicate alternator is supplying sufficient charge to battery. Being slightly out but I've been told its not too much to worry about by auto electrician. Need to get this fixed as car is due for MOT soon. Thanks, Stephen
  5. Front drop links when they go cause terrible noise. I know from experience.
  6. Thank you very much. Your help is much appreciated. I love my fabia, its my first car so I want to keep it going as long as possible. I've got lots of torx bits so hopefully fingers crossed it will go alright.
  7. Hi, I've just received a brand new front bumper primed but not colour matched yet. Not bad for £35.98 from eurocarpart.com My old one has a huge crack in the front and will not longer hold the black plastic grille in place that's in 3 pieces. The thing looks massive in my living room. I have read my Haynes manual and it gives very basic instructions with no pictures really on how to remove this. Could anyone with any experience of the give me some pointers. I wish I could find a video of this but I can't. Thanks
  8. Hi,u I have a Skoda Fabia MK1 Estate 2001 1.4 MPI and would love to learn more about the car in order to properly maintain it. Currently nothing is seriously wrong with the car but I'd thought that learning a few preventative maintenance tips would not got a miss. I'm looking to do a rocker cover gasket change oil has leaked out a little. Any input on the subject would be great. A few niggles about the car, central locking on front passenger side does not work and its sticks on all doors most of the time. If anyone has any ideas comments let me know. Thanks for reading. Steve.
