  1. I realise this thread is quite old now but I have the same problem of "bobbling" on the front seats of a Sept 62 Elegance with cloth seats. I bought the car in Jan 14 with 16k on the clock. I did not notice any bobbling at the time but now at 24k miles it is very noticeable particularly on the drivers seat. The Skoda warranty limits claims for such items to 6 months, an unreasonably short period, has anyone succeeded with a warranty claim for older vehicles? I bought from a Skoda dealer some distance from me and have not yet taken the matter up with them, I would like to get some feedback before doing so. Any views please. Thanks
  2. Well I've just found another answer. Previously when I had difficulty removing and replacing the dipstick the engine was cold. Tried it today with the engine warm - no problem, reasonably easy to remove/replace! Presumably the heat softens the plastic - the manual does tell me to check oil level with engine warm - I just did not think it would make any difference to the ease of using the dipstick!
  3. Thanks for the replies, sounds like I just need to be a bit more forceful with it!
  4. Hi, Have just bought a 62 plate hatch with 2.0 CR diesel engine. My silly question is how do you remove and replace the dipstick (I've only been driving for 50 years and have in the past maintained my own cars so I should not need to ask this question). The dipstick has an orange plastic head with 2 clips which seem to locate on the rim of the guide tube. It is very difficult to get the stick out if these clips are engaged and equally hard to get it fully in again (I assume it must be right in with the clips engaged to get correct reading). Is there some knack to doing this? I am concerned that too much force will break something. Thanks David
