  1. Woah. Thats a blast from the past apearing in my mailbox. My wheels were just the standard colour form the factory. Alas after 3 years the car was returned to the lease company so I dont have it any more. After a long & happy period I have stepped away from Skoda ownership.
  2. Mine has do it occasionally for all of its 26,000 miles now.
  3. I still have it. Thought had occurred to me
  4. Hi Matt I would not go near them again. Ever. I had been waiting from 30th April until 5th June before I eventually got a refund via PayPal. Great service from them. I was asked to provide proof of postage and delivery which I did as fortunately I'd sent it back via special delivery. Funny part is PayPal refunded me the full amount (so I lost £11 for my return postage) and then a week later a cheque with no explanation whatsoever arrived from wing mirror muppets for £25 less! No idea how they arrived at this figure. Not once, ever, did anyone return a call or call me to update or discuss. An exemplary display of the most shabby customer service I have ever seen. I would not buy a bog roll from them if they had the last ones on earth and I'd had curry for tea!
  5. Unsurprisingly the refund accountant has not called today. I spoke to wingmirror muppets and was told "he's in a meeting". I told them this was BS and having spoken to consumer advise today I unloaded the fury with some added legislation too. Seriously these guys are utter Cowboys of the watchdog league. It's all good tho as next I spoke to PayPal about my dispute, gave them the RM tracking number and they checked delivery proof themselves, then decided in my favour and refunded me there and then! I now have my refund thanks to PayPal. What a great service
  6. Not a lot. I opened the case last week and they are looking into it. It's at the waiting for the seller to respond stage.
  7. Hello. Bit of a warning, moan and request for advice all in one I bought a wing mirror (complete unit) from wingmirrorman for £145 delivered. When it arrived it was for the older octavia 1 rather than the 2010 octavia 2 I specified. So I called them up, explained the problem and was told they don't sell the correct one for an octavia 2 and that I should return it for a refund. I posted it back the next day special delivery so total time from arrival with me to return to them was 5 days. That was on 1st may (signed for back with them). I called them a week later to confirm receipt and ask about my refund timescales and was told a cheque would be sent out that week. Long story short, I'm still waiting for my cheque having spent a month on the phone each week and being given various BS reasons why I don't have my cheque. Things like its on its way, it was posted yesterday, it wasn't posted by mistake because of a new staff member, then it was posted yesterday, you need to allow 3 days for delivery, we will cancel the original cheque and send a new one, it will be sent tomorrow, it was sent last night, etc. etc. etc. Today I was told I need to speak to the refund man who won't be in until tomorrow afternoon and they will pay straight to my card. Took my mobile so they can call me. I'm betting I won't get that call. I paid online via PayPal so I've raised a complaint with them. I don't know why wingmirrorman won't refund via PayPal and are trying to use a cheque. So, a warning to avoid these cowboys, and an appeal for any guidance on where else to complain. I'm down £145 for the mirror, £11 for return postage and £400 for the mirror I bought from Skoda in the end :(
  8. I would also say that the prices at the circuit were cheap for food, beer and water. So don't bother loading a rucksack with heavy supplies.
  9. Another thumbs down for camping F1. The campsite, toilets, food were all terrible. On quali day the coaches were ok but on race day sitting in a roasting hot coach at the circuit in traffic for an hour before we left was unbearable. There's a small town en route that the coaches go thru. I would stay there and take or hire a bike to ride to the circuit. The location of spa was great but also isolated which is why I've not felt the urge to go back. Hungary, and Budapest on the other hand, was awesome
  10. Thanks Adamal - thats the non powered version - i need the powered on which is £210 on skodaparts, plus the cap, indicator and glass. http://www.skodaparts.com/product/octavia-mirror-housing-right-automatic-fold-in-2009-2013-50508
  11. The only ones I can find on eBay which are the same shape & spec are £140 and come from Poland. 130671579055 Is the wrong shape
  12. Hello. Someone has hit my drivers side wing mirror, pretty hard as its essentialy destroyed - glass, indicator, cover all broken and the metal hinge apears to be be broken too as it looks snapped and was hanging off. I'm trying to avoid claiming on the insurance but Skoda are quoting around £450 for a painted replacement. Searching online is not yeilding much choice to source one myself. Ive tried wingmirrorman but they only seem to sell older shape mirrors. I also cant see how to remove the exisitng one. It looks like the whole door card has to come off before I can remove the little triangle of vented plastic on the inside of the mirror? Feeling very fed up and frustrated with this. Any help would be appriciated
  13. I used to polish mine with a bit of brasso or similar. stopped the soot sticking and the rain generaly washed it off too.
  14. I want a section where all the locked threads could be transfered. Some of them are most amusing. In a bad way of course. Like a guilty pleasure
  15. Hi B33fy. It's a 2.0 zetec red top with twin Webber 45's. It seems to hesitate/stutter if you boot it under 2000 rpm. I'm gonna get a local garage to give it a once over as part of the MOT. It's still very much drivable. Goes like a rocket
  16. Hello. Got it home all ok. First drive home in the damp was a little scary but it was fine. Had a quick test of the garage fit then been out it it all day. There's a couple of niggles to look at tho. The main one is the car struggles for power at low revs, hesitating. Father in law says it could be the ignition is too advanced? There's a quite a bit of popping from the exhaust on run off too. It's due a MOT so I think I'll get t tuned up when it's in for that. I started a blog about my westfield experiences so there's some pictures on that: www.shropshirewestie.wordpress.com
  17. Picking it up tomorrow morning. I'll post some then . I feel a bit like mister toad!
  18. Dealer will argue damage due to stone chips. Not faulty paint. Root cause is no protection film IMO. all new yetis have it now.
  19. I bought cheap bars. Noisy above 50mph and a pain to fit. I gave them away and bought Thule. Much much better and they fit both my cars. But, they cost more.
  20. Toy box cars seem to have a few. Some nice looking cars. Might have to up my budget a bit
  21. There doesent seem to be a way of judging the power of the cars other than by what the seller claims.
  22. Hi guys. Quinten - your car looks very nice. How easy have you found it for learning/understanding what all the bits do and how it works etc? My main reasonning for holding out for a zetec car was that it would be a more 'modern', reliable engine and come to the worst a ford dealer could mend it/service it for significant work. Sometimes I also worry about getitng a car that has been someones bodge project for the last 10 years but I guess thats to be expected. Ive registered for a user for the WSSC forum but have not been allowed in by the side admin yet - theres loads of good info on there. I started with how much space would I need in my cluttered garage! Out of interest, other than autotrader (where theres very few cars at present) are there any other good places to look online?
  23. I've been dallying about buying a used one for a while. Just wondered if anyone else here has or has had one. I like the idea of owning one, just not sure how much use it would get. Concerned about taking it out and where I could safely park it etc. I would be spending about £7k on a SEi probably with a Zetec ford engine at that price. I'm not handy with the spanners which worries me too. I've never so much as changed my own brake pads! Should be a good car to learn on tho! I was thinking of saving a bit more to get into an elise. Maybe a little more practicle for more regular use. Any advice welcome
  24. It's a weird review as I don't find the ride too harsh or the road noise too loud. A friend has an A5 sline and that feels like there's no suspension at all! It's all they seem to have to say which is a little sad. Sure there's a few things I wish it had but you have to draw the line on extras somewhere.
