  1. Yeah the little Joey, sad story actually. We were driving between Port Augusta and Broken hill in NSW and we went along a road that had a dead roo every 1or 2 kms. Kids in school are taught from a young age to check dead roos for joeys so we stopped at the first one and as my daughter (10) and I got out of the car the roo started to move. Poor thing was paralysed and had been sitting for hours in the sun. I had to euthanise it (with a hammer we had to hit tent pegs in) so the kids were really upset when we came across the Joey in her mum lying across the road about 20 mins later. We pulled the Joey out and drove him (he was a boy) to Broken hill where we left him with animal rescuers. Not sure how he's doing but it was nice to save one after the first. Still this is a forum about Skodas and they kick ass (pardon my french) except the spares car be expensive for spares here in Aus. The windscreen will cost $1000 to repair and can only be done by the dealer.
  2. Hi everyone, I bought my Yeti in July and from the moment I bought it I've loved it. It's been great reading the other comments and also ownership tips from this site. So In Dec my family of 4 put a pod on the roof and drove from Perth to Brisbane then back again but on the return we went via Sydney and Canberra. Was an amazing trip and the car was flawless. We even got it serviced (it's first service, 2000kms overdue) halfway on the trip. The service guy said the car was perfect and didn't even need fluid. Wasn't an easy trip with us having a heat wave follow us virtually the whole way, the worst was driving through NSW into SA when we hit 4 days of 44-47 degree weather. Our only damage was that the windscreen cracked when I tried to wash them, the temperature gauge said 47 outside, oh and a few small chips on the chrome bonnet trim (I put flyscreen over the grill which worked a treat). Great trip and I recommend it, overall the car did 10800kms in about 2 weeks of driving, kids were happy with the space in the back and we even had a sleep in the car one night ( I wouldn't recommend that :-)) Hit 2 rabbits (didnt even feel them) and had a couple of near roo misses, although we saved one little joey whose mum was roadkill. For a small engine like the 77tsi I was a little worried but she was a real trooper, Fuel economy dipped due to the luggage pod (average 8.8l p100km) and I put an additive as we had to buy fuel from remote roadhouses with lots of crap in their tanks. Oh the worst thing about the trip, vacuming the dust out of the car, anyone recommend a good dash cleaner? Armourall is a little sticky for me. Anyway, just thought I'd share that, have put a couple of pics up too, any questions fire away. Cheers Chris
