  1. I've stripped it all down, that picture was blatantly stolen from the 'how to replace the coolant temperature sensor' thread. The stat is knackered, so shall replace that.
  2. What is this? Marked with an X.... And should there be what appears to be some kind of metal clip/spring just rattling around inside it? I'm guessing not. :( yet more jobs for this lovely fabia. least enjoyable car owned so far. :(
  3. VagCom'd the car, came up with: 3 Faults Found: 16725 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40): Implausible Signal P0341 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17524 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating: B1 S1: Open Circuit P1116 - 35-00 - - 16502 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62): Signal too High P0118 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent So will replace the temp sensor, possibly lambda, then look at the CPS.. With regards to the Lambda, any idea's if the 1.4 has 2 sensors, and if so which one is the one that the fault code is telling me about? Thanks!
  4. Most likely the 2nd one is omitted, yeah. I'm going to throw a new lambda in there, see if that helps, otherwise I'm stuffed and might have to try a new cat. Well one from a breakers, at least.
  5. Failed the MOT today on emissions, spectacularly. I mean big time. 5.52% fast idle compared CO compared to max of 0.30%, 2nd fast idle of 4.21% compared to 0.30%, and natural idle of 1.50% compared to max 0.50. Oh and to top it all off, failed the HC section too. Lambda sensor I'd imagine.... MOT tester couldnt remember if there was 1 or 2 on this model, any ideas? I dont know what engine 'type' it is, unless anyone can point me to something that'd tell me easily.... Engine number ends in AME? that the one? Where is the damn sensor to begin, how easy/quick a job is it to replace it, and any other suggestions to make it get through the MOT? Its idling and driving very slowly and sluggishly, just want to get a ticket on it to get shot of it and get a better one. thanks.
  6. Lets hope the current winning bidder is serious.. they are a member on here
  7. I think you'd be suprised at the price of insurance... it was more than reasonable for me. I just took it out for a spin, and terrified the locals 3rd gear 'spirited driving' is simply awesome.
  8. That'd just be too easy... where's the challenge
  9. I did measure up a V8 to fit, but it'd be really hard to keep it looking stock. I used to own a Mk1 Ford Fiesta with a V6 in it, sitting on a daihatsu fourtrak chassis, so I'm used to odd cars. I'm possibly considering a Favorit for a conversion...
  10. Its got a VW type 2 gearbox in there - from a van - it had a beetle one, but it just wasnt tough enough - now its rock solid. Downside is its only 4 speed, but I've driven it around most of the M25 no problems, scaring the **** out of people! I'm actually most likely selling this one, but I've gotten hold of a Volvo T5 engine for the next project... I'm thinking ford Ka with a T5 engine in it... looking stock.
  11. See how that looks.... Sorry about the rubbish message accross the screen, I've lost my video editing software :(
  12. It had a turbo lump in it before the 13b lump, but the quality of the work was, to be as polite as possible, near dangerous. It had to be started from scratch effectively, with quality workmanship. It moves!
  13. Video of Skoda in action - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Thats a view from the passenger seat... doesnt look as fast as it actually is.
  14. Erm yeah its mine Sorry for bumping an old thread, no doubt I'll get in trouble, but they wanted to see the engine in there... so here we go. Enjoy.
