Spiders, I'm not a fan of multi-pcd no matter what the wheel looks like

Might have more luck posting this question in Octavia II forum

Audi TT front wheel drive and Quattro twin cats are different just to make things awkward. I think the 150/180 bhp front wheel drive ones are what you want but not 100% on that.

I believe the compressor clutch is a common fail, not saying that's your problem though. Many tales of finding bits of the compressor clutch laying on the undertray when it's removed for any reason.

You can get uprated alloy bushes for the linkage, tightens things up a treat. Draft42 iirc??

Octy mk1 4x4 suspension,haldex gurus needed?
nitrovrs replied to vrsmark's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Spax RSX coilovers on mine, surprisingly good on road and nice and firm once wound up a bit. Cast arms with full superpro bushes including castor correction. Adjustable rear tie arms, r32 FARB and Neuspeed RARB (required boot floor mod). Manual Haldex controller wired to dash switch, switch off = front wheel drive... switch on = permanent 4x4 (about 55/45 FR split). -

Heated mirrors come on when heated rear screen is on as long as mirror adjustment switch is in the middle (not selected to L or R mirror). -
My 2p Mk1 Octy vrs, standard 5 speeder, drove fine standard and great with stage 1. Had not driven 6 speeder so didn't know any better. Got a mk1 4x4, 5 speed box and standard map felt a tad breathless (150bhp). Stage 1 map on same box much better. Then fitted 6 speed diesel ratio box and actually loved it, however I did most of my driving in 3rd/4th and had two 'cruising' gears (but box was for future plans). 6 speeder went pop so fitted Audi TT petrol 6 speeder as stop gap (still only stage 1 @ 220 ish horses) and all I can say is I NEED to fix the diesel box and get it back in!! Too many gear changes for little gain even at stage 1 in my opinion so I would tend to echo going the diesel ratio route but think stage 2 would be a MINIMUM requirement, if not stay 5 speed and uprate the diff.

Just to help you along unless it was a typo your wheels would be 6.5" wide, the offset is the measurement between the mounting face of the rim and the wheel centre line.

I hear you AnotherGareth, I personally am going for looks and the minimal increase in weight (probs staying 15's) shouldn't be a problem. I'm thinking lowered, alloys and possibly a cat back (make that 3 pot sound we all love a tad louder) with visible tailpipe design (maybe twins???). Performance is of no interest on this car.... my Octy is for that!!

Going purely for aesthetics. Great info, thanks.
