  1. My 2013 Octavia 2.0TDi is now starting to show overheating too. See the pictures I've taken to prove it! Car has been in the "lease company specified" independent garage, who (unsurprisingly) cannot find anything wrong. I offered to show them these pictures, but was told their "experts" would be able to replicate....which they couldn't. But it clearly happens (as above!) So now it will overheat generally every other day. When it first happened to the wife, the gauge went into the red and all the alarms, etc. scared her rigid! I generally keep an eye on the gauge and never let it into the red. Pull over, engine off, engine back on about 2 minutes later and all is well. But I have no confidence now that it won't happen at any time without real warning. And if the garage cannot find anything "wrong" they can't fix it! Over to the lease company to see what next. And taken the shine off what was, up to now a flawless first experience with Skoda :(
  2. Some DAB stations also broadcast pictures along with the text which changes with the artist, etc. Seen this when I've been down in "the smoke". I think you can tell when this extra information is available with a star or something against the station name when it's listed. Can't remember for sure - being "up north" for most of the time we're still amazed at colour TV......
  3. For anyone who gets stuck on this with the latest version of Columbus (the one with the optical disk in the glovebox) you need to following the instructions from the "Discover Pro" section, rather than the RNS510. This can be found at: http://www.volkswagen.de/de/navigation/discover-pro/poi-listen-sammlung.html Not going to translate the great work by "YearOfTheGoat" - but the main difference is that the latest version provides a "self-extracting" exe file with all the needed files on it, rather than the "DB3" file. The DB3 will not be recognised in the latest Columbus SatNav - I found this out after countless tries. The self-extracting one, however, works a treat Another point to note - if you put this on an SD card together with music, pictures, etc. it will render the SD card unusable - it sees it as "update only". Just rezip when done, and the media is back! Hope this helps someone else
  4. Not sure this is totally true. I was able to play IronMan3 from my SD card. In beautiful 1080p quality too (well it was coded to that anyway  ). And I was also able to play some video files from my Samsung MP3 player too. Not sure exactly the format; I think MP4 or maybe AVI. I will check when I next pull the SD card from the car . But for sure it was playing files NOT from a DVD! I expect it depends on your SatNav version & vintage though

  6. Hello All, Been lurking for a few weeks, but now I have my shiny new Skoda thought I'd sign up So I am VERY proud to have the new Octavia. Feels a bit like I'm boasting with the spec: 2.0 TDI 6G Elegance Race Blue 18" Golus Leather, Heated, Memory Seats Columbus Heated Screen, Mirrors, etc. KESSY Bi-Xenon & LED rears Canton Sport Suspension Simply Clever+ (isn't everyone who opts for Skoda?) (Space Saver - big deal.....) But technically it's a company car, so not like I paid for it! Well aside to HMRC........ Looking forward to many years of enjoyment. Already the best new car I've had and I've only done 150miles! Few tiny niggles - but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it! Cheers, Stuart
