    Update......
     
    All fixed - the control unit was replaced. No bumper removal needed, but technician had some scrapes on his knuckles apparently due to its difficult position.

    Just to return to this thread for an update.... The rubber wedge I used seems to have come loose (compressed) in use and the creak returned. I therefore tried Ryeman's version and sprayed some Dry Lube Silicone around the speedo and tacho binnacles. This has worked immediately and has remained good for over a week so far. Hopefully this will be a permanent fix this time.
