  1. Is the exhaust on a 2010 vRS tdi one piece? If if so I assume you’d have to take the rear n/s axle out to remove it without cutting? thanks in advance
  2. My centre section has become more like swiss cheese. I've seen numerous stainless systems on eBay for the petrol. Does anyone know if the TSi exhaust would fit on a TDi?
  3. Willingham Woods is still heaving on Wednesday evenings and every weekend. I generally have a ride past but very rarely stop there and if I do it'll be for a quick Jimmy and a visor clean and then off again. The thing that irritates me about biking hangout's is all the MotoGP stars who turn up for a nob measuring contest. You can clearly see they have won several world titles and TT's by the 2" of unused rubber on the edge of the Yamaha R1M tyres!! Don't get me wrong, there are some really really quick riders around Lincolnshire but they rarely hang around in groups talking about riding quick, they're out there doing it. I was out with a group of mates once and we called in there. We were approached by a chap who clearly had more money than sense. Brand new BMW S1000RR, matching Dainese leathers, boots, gloves and Arai RX7GP lid. Conversation carried on and he was telling us how he nearly made it in BSB and how the newer breed of local riders aren't as quick as he was: Guy Martin, Gary Johnson, Ivin Lintin etc. So, as he was also heading down the Mkt Rasen, Wragby, Bardney ......... road he said he'd join us and "show us they way!". Now, the group I ride in don't hang about but we have certain rules we stick by; No more than 100mph in a straight line (gives folks chance to catch up), Always try and stick to your side of the road through bends (gives you a bit of room for error on left handers and lets your mates know you're not going to push them wide on corners if they're going in a bit hot), Always stick to the speed limit in built up areas (national speed limits are the only places we push it), stop at every junction to let the group re-group. There's a few others. Anyway, we get out on the road towards Wragby. There's a long straight out of Rasen followed by a tight 90 degree 1st gear right hander. The "new friend" was at the back down the straight but half way down decides he's going for it. We enter the the right hander and he's 2nd from the front behind one of our group on his ZX10. The ZX10 tips right and the BMW follows him, almost! BMW runs very wide with the rider sitting bolt upright, onto the verge and narrowly misses a driveway before entering the hedge! The rider was alright but his bike, leather and everything else was totalled. The moral of this story: Don't try to follow TT winner Gary Johnson and his ZX10R round a bend when your ambition clearly outweighs your talent!!!!
  4. I suppose it's because back in the day you had to be a bit mechanically minded to get anywhere. How many bikers these days can adjust a chain?

  6. They reckon the skiing injury Michael Schumaker got was worsened by the fact he had a GoPro mount on his lid. The impact point was bang on the mount and transferred a more concentrated impact spot.
  7. I've been riding bikes for over 30 years. My current trundle is a 2015 Aprilia RSV4 Factory. Over the years I've owned loads of different bikes or all shapes and sizes. One thing I've always done is nodded at bikes travelling the opposite way. Not always a nod but always an acknowledgement. I'm not fussed what I'm nodding at (apart from step through mopeds. I detest them). Today I've been out on the bike and as it's been a cracking day there's been loads of bikes out (Lincolnshire / Willingham Woods). I must have acknowledged over 50 bikers and no more than 5 offered a response. Is it a dying trade? Also, why don't bikers help other bikers out anymore? I was between Wragby and Bardney on the B1202, and I wasn't hanging around. I passed an R6 at the roadside with the rider stood by the side. So, I turned round and went back to see if he was alright. It turns out the fuse had blown on his fuel pump, so I gave him a spare off mine. The bloke reckoned he'd been passed by a good 40 bikers and I was the first to stop in almost an hour. I'm not blowing my own trumpet here, as this kind of stuff is what ALL bikers used to do. They'd help out their fellow man in a time of need, or at least acknowledge them. Am I in the wrong here, have times changed that much?

  9. Just after a bit of advice on adjustable drop leks for the above. The car is fitted with APX coil-overs and is running 40mm lower than standard on the front. I need links around 240mm between centres and have tried a couple of sets of eBay adjustable ones. They are cr@p quality. To the point where i stripped the threads in one of the nuts while tightening by hand with a 17mm spanner. Has anyone got any suggestions one tried and tested good quality ones? Cheers

  11. Cheers Chris. There's riding and then there's "riding"! In 2006 I was doing those kind of laps and winning the odd trophy here and there in MRO club racing. Nowadays a 1.36 wouldn't put me in the top 20 of the Derby Phoenix 750cc - 1300cc class. The MRO is probably the most competitive club racing series and those lads (and lasses) are only a second or two behind the BSB riders. I'm no slower than i was but everyone else is a hell of a lot quicker!!!
  12. Well it's been a while since I've been on the Briskoda website. The ex-Guy Martin GSXR1000 has gone and there's been an arrival of a brand spanking Aprilia RSV4 aPRC ABS etc etc!!!!! The Suzuki was a quick bike, very quick. It was the bike Guy rode in the 2004 TT and finished 7th on the senior. It was pretty much BSB spec and nigh on 200hp. However, ten years of technology has done wonders for out of the showroom bikes. This Aprilia is quicker, better brakes, handles better and is all round easier to ride. in 2006 on 16.5" slicks I was lapping Cadwell at 1.39 on a hot lap. I'm doing regular 1.36 on the RSV4 on road tyres!!!
  13. Well I am the buyer who now owns these and as per X-Power's comments; they are outstanding. Everytime I have taken someone in the car and put the full beams on the passenger reaction is always one of amazement. I've driven cars with additional spots on the front and these are better. Without doubt the best mod I have added to my car. I'm just glad I didn't have to do the conversion work myself.
  14. Located on Church Street in Grimsby I've just got my car back after a cambelt, water pump, anc belt and coolant service. Westgate Skoda quoted a fixed price of £479 inc vat. This place has just done all the above, using genuine parts, for £280 inc vat. The guy who own it and does the spanner work is a previous Audi master technician and until recently was the only tech in the area Audi trained / qualified to work on every Audi R and RS model. He knows his onions!! If you're in the area and are thinking if having service or tuning work done give him a call or drop in for a quote.
  15. Took it to my local VAG genius for a cambelt, water pump, ancillary belt and coolant. Very pleasantly surprised at £280 inc VAT. Genuine parts too.
  16. They're 3SDM 0.01 in 19 x 8.5 et42. Running 225/35/19 vredestein Ultrac Vorti. They only come in polished alloy or Matt black so had them powder coated in dark gunmetal from new. I'm in 2 minds whether to paint the centre caps to match, but am leaning towards doing it. Tried fitting skoda decals over them but cannot find any that will stick / fit correctly. A bloody Volvo!!!!

  22. Personally I'd go for a remap every day if the week compared to a tuning box. My advice, for what it's worth, is to stay clear of car park type tuners too. The ones that come to your house and flash the ecu with a map. It will be better than nothing but they're not great. Ideally the tuner / mapper should have a rolling road / dyno. That way they can tell exactly what the car is doing and what is working etc. As an example, I had a flash type tune on my car when I bought it. It was via a very reputable tuner too. I then took the car to Corten-Miller in Lincolnshire and they put the car on the rollers and developed a custom individual map using their software. The car didn't make anymore top end power, in fact it was the same, but it now makes 15hp more in the midrange. The car is so much smoother than before. It's more economical and a lot easier to drive. I can't say too much for tuning boxes as I've only ever had one. However, ask any professional map writer / tuner about them and they'll show you where the recommend putting them (more than likely the bin). They are well known in the trade as "smoke boxes" because that's what the create. If your car has a DPF and you use a tuning box then get prepared for a DPF failure. The extra power is basically caused by adding more fuel to the system, making it richer (a very rough explanation, not factual).   24. Just out of interest, what sort of crazy insurance quotes have you had. I always use a comparison website when it's time for renewal and pretty much go with the cheapest. I am a 39yo male, living in the Humber area, I drive a 2010 vRS tdi (worth about £11k), which is remapped, suspension and wheel mods, clean licence and IAM qualified, held my licence for 22 years and have over 10 years no claims. My insurance is generally around £250 for fully comp business including the mods, but out of interest I always look at the most expensive to see how crazy they are. Today the highest was from Tesco at a very reasonable £11,885 per year, with £550 compulsory excess!!!!!!
