Fuel range glitch? ⛽️
I thought I filled up at the garage yesterday but was surprised when I got back into the car and only saw 580km range on the dash. I thought ok that the pump must have auto shut off early so I did my drive for 40 mins outs and back. On the way back I noticed that the range had increased to 620km. Until then a full tank max range was 730km. I will test it again but I’m interested to know if anyone else has noticed this? Apart from that nice update in the Skoda app 7 day challenge counter 👌🏻

Bridgestone turanza tyres
I didn’t know that. I will have a look but the wheels are 18in standard black in France.

Bridgestone turanza tyres
I have Bridgestones as well from new. Don’t find my car noisy but I do have the extra think front windows and driven less than 600km. I was looking at replacing with some run-flats at some point for extra protection when driving to Spain where they stab your tyres. Anyone have a good run-flat recommendation or experience?

Rear seatbelt alarm ‼️
Ok thanks 👍🏻 I guess it’s another new inforced security control that was not like this on the previous 2018 version. I didn’t weigh the bag but must have been much lighter than a person so the sensors are too sensitive or not setup correctly. Allowing the driver to turn off the sensor like the lane assist would have been a much better idea or set them to a more realistic weight. Of course the boot and floor are options but I never had a problem with my last VRS.

Rear seatbelt alarm ‼️
Hi, Quick question about the rear seatbelt safety alarm. Just came home with some shopping placed on the rear seat and the safety belt alarm was pinging all the way home. Is there an easy way without the OBD mods to silence this or do I need to attach the seatbelt each time. I thought about deactivating the in car monitoring but only after arriving home and parked. Not sure what the in car monitoring is actually used for. Cheers 👋🏻

Skoda octavia sportline 2025 facelift and obdeleven
As far as I understand the Mk4.5 is not supported yet, no one-click app changes possible apart from two for the battery. I got a credit refund from OBDeleven. It would be nice to know when the 2025 car will be supported?

Skoda Connect Services: Care Connect & Pay to Fuel/Park
I thought the Pay to Park/Fuel was a a bit risky having to enter my credit card details so have deactivated both. It’s very easy in the infortainment shop to remove any of the installed apps. I have kept the care connect but turned off the lock/unlock, honk/flash and parked location. All other MySkoda app functions seem to work ok. I will see if it’s any use or if I also don’t like the tracking of the driver data. I also set the privacy settings to the “shared” mode which is hopefully not tracked but only shared in case of an 🆘 The only things auto disabled with that privacy mode is the Internet radio and Laura voice control but not entirely. I really don’t like the way that it’s so easy to open the car with a phone 📱 that’s so scary 😦

Skoda Connect Services: Care Connect & Pay to Fuel/Park
Care Connect - Remote Access Initial usage of the latest version of MySkoda App and all seems to be functional setting up with my MK4.5 2025. I just have a doubt of the security of the remote access which provides any potential thieves to the car data like the VIN and REG plus localisation of the car and ability to open the doors. If your phone is compromised and the FID is changed they will have instant access. I have the lost phone protection enabled on my IPhone but it’s a nice to have but not really sure if it’s use as you have the key to open and start so not sure the thinking behind the phone access. Just a labo invention vs real marketing user need? What’s your take on it? Infotainment apps: Pay to Fuel and Pay to Park. Also enabled these paid zero cost services. Anyone use them and like them? No issues encountered? How do they both work in a nutshell. Cheers, Steve

Octavia vRS FL first impressions
I prefer the new look personally. Nice discovery.

Octavia vRS FL first impressions
Nice posts. I have the same 4.5 car. I was looking for a way to have a larger Speedo at the bottom and the gear selection at the top as they had previously. Do you know if that’s configurable in the settings or using OBD?

Load noise from engine
180bhp wouldn’t be bad in fact was getting mixed up with the CO2 tax. All I can find for a Leon FR though in France is 1.5 eHybrid 204 ch (152 KW). I don’t have any electric charging option where I live currently. Added the CO2 tax for 2024 which at the moment will also be applied in 2025 as well as it was rejected by the government before the recent turmoil so there is a risk that it may be changed before the delivery date for any new orders arriving next year. What’s the tax like in the UK for the 156 VRS? I also added a similar resale price that I found with same kms but newer. I may have found someone interested as well as this could be a nice project for someone that can change an engine.

Thanks will take a look. If you or anyone else has some other suggestions I’m interested. I will need to check the extra Malus tax as the 180bhp can be high. 3300 for the VRS compared to 28000+ for the Ford Focus ST at 183bhp. The VRS was a good deal for 265bhp.

No Skoda only mentioned that they suspect the engine was damaged due to incorrect oil distribution. They didn't say or show me exactly where the damage was. Regarding the price yes this is what I had in mind around 6000 euros. If I get that sum or close to it I will purchase a 3rd VRS if not then its time to downsize as Ill be 20K out of pocket. We'll see how it turns out.

Load noise from engine
Bad news after investigation by Skoda. Needs a new motor and turbo at a cost of 8000 and 2000 euros each for the parts alone with a total repair cost of 17,200 euros. As that's more than the value of the car I will replace instead. Very costly though as lost a lot of value planned for the original trade-in 😒 Don't think that this problem should happen after only 100,000 km on the clock as they should normally last 3x times longer. Had no support from Skoda though as the garage stated its recorded that the car was driven 34 km after the red warning to stop driving appeared. To be honest I drove further than that as no other bad symptoms like overheating of power loss. I assumed a false alarm like I had similar but orange. Still lesson learned that if you are instructed to stop you need to at the next safest point otherwise you risk to be responsible for the damage with void warranty. Unless you know how to reset the recorded data? How much do you think the car is worth without fixing ?? If it was really bad I would have expected the temp to rise and a loss of power which is not the case. It’s not been driven far in the current condition but I will ask for tow to Skoda. Really makes me question though the reliability as most Octavia’s should be good for 250,000 km. With only 100K on the clock my car would be nearly new in Slovakia 🇸🇰 My car is not heavily used and has been well maintained. I was going to buy another VRS but considering other options now.

Load noise from engine
Just made a quote online for a second hand engine and the cost was 6500 euros just for the part. Labour costs would be extra and Skoda is not the cheapest for that so you could be right. I just hope it’s not that bad and just a broken oil pump.

100,000km. Doesn’t sound good 😟🤞🏻

Thanks. Is that expensive to fix what would be your estimate or worse case cost ?
