  1. Other car, but maybe the same headache: I replaced and wired the switch cca a year ago in my Octavia 2FL (MY2012), but it's not work. The lighting is still controlled by the light sensor in the instrument cluster - so it's automatic - and I couldn't find any relevant coding or adaptation. The same with the old 'dumb' and the new - later installed - MFA dashboards.
  2. Update. After a few months, I noticed that there was a non-erasable fault at the instrument cluster (17), "Function Restricted due to Missing Message(s)". This is a classically stupid error code, it's hard to figure out why and where is the problem. But it's did nothing, everything worked fine. Except that the PDC shutdown seems to be a bit slow, but I didn't feel it until the exchange. I looked through the parts catalogs and the HW/SW versions, and I decided to replace the controller (7E0919475k ) with an 1Z0919475B. Just for fun. The error disappeared immediately and the shutdown also became faster, so I think there was something wrong with the sw version. Maybe a missing electronic handbrake, or something with the CAN protocol. Plus, I checked the two panels. Very interesting, the "new" panel (right) lacks the circuitry of the first sensors (as the software), but the Chinese contains these, just the sw dumber there, the program simply does not use the middle connector (front sensors I/O). Unfortunately there is no external eeprom for further play, and the Chinese Motorola processor has 256Kb eeprom, while the 1Z0 has only 128. I have an interface for the MCU, but it's not worth going into it in depth. The circuits, parts and the panels are very similar, there are only a few small differences, some design changes.
  3. Yest, I'm sure it's OEM. Maybe for cars manufactured in China, but OEM. I checked the pcb and the sensors, surely they came from a VAG supplier, the sensors are certainly original. But the older parking aid controller (to the MY 2008, ie->Nov 2008) is different from the new (FL, after Nov. 1 2008). The new uses the CAN-drive network while the previous installed to the CAN-convenience and also a bit different the power supply. The change was in November, 2008 (Facelift start of production date), so then the Gateway was also replaced. Well, I'm not sure it would work or not with an older gateway and radio. Maybe yes, but the radio is an other question.
  4. A few days ago I replaced the aftermarket PDC kit (OEM look, but with buzzer only) with a factory PDC OPS set. I ordered this months ago: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32844357247.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dhum3kd It looks like OEM, I think it is... with a few small bug. The wire of the buzzer was a bit short, it's reaches only the C pillar (Octavia 2 FL combi, LHW), but there was a nice free fixing point under the upper coverage. So it's OK. The sequence of sensors was wrong (dcba instead of abcd), therefore the four data wires had to be replaced. It was five minutes, not a big deal. The CAN +12V loom was one and a half meters longer (shortened), everything else is perfect. The CAN connected directly to the gateway with the bypass-loom connector, power wire (15/12V) to the fuse 6 (5A). The controller is a 7e0919475k. At the gateway installation list the Park/Steer assist (10) must be set to installed. 2 or 3 hours work (boot, bumper, new bigger holes, wiring). Just the column B was a torture.
  5. Maybe I'm wrong, but is it possible that there is no DMF in a MY2012 Octavia? CAYC (1.6CRTDI), manual gear, prod. date: 02.01.2012. The car bounce at the start in 1st gear until I release the clutch pedal, then it's OK. Fine, ~185000 kms after no wonder, so I searched clutch sets and DMF, but I just found smooth flywheels and kits for my VIN. It looks like there is no DMF installed for this engine/gear pairing after 11/2010. At least in the Octavias. Is it possible? Thanks!
  6. I couldn't find it described, so maybe useful. Indirect TPMS without HW button, control and reset over MaxiDot menu: Assuming Octavia Mk II. FL MY2011>, MaxiDot, MK60EC1, VCDS. Make a full autoscan and save the log file. Open ABS (03), Coding (Long Coding Helper pops up) 1. Select byte 16, bit 2. "Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS/PR-7K6) installed", set to 1 (checked) 2. Select byte 17, bit 2. "Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS/PR-7K6) via Instrument Cluster (MY2011+)", set to 1 (checked) Save coding, close controller. Open CAN Gateway (19) Open Installation List Find 4C "Tire Pressure II", set checkbox to 1 (installed) (this is a virtual controller, so there is no hardware behind it) Save updated installation list, close window. Stay at the Gateway, clear error codes. ( An error appears there: Control Module Incorrectly Coded) Close controller, set ignition OFF, wait a few seconds and turn ignition ON. Check MaxiDot. If coding was OK, then the new menu item appears on the display. Check error codes (ABS, Gateway, Instruments). If there is an error code: interpret it and clear or solve it. Close the car.
  7. O2FL: There is no possibility to use the door controller, because no dedicated input on the controller for the trunk release button. Connect the switch circuit to the J519 (black connector, pin 13) as a parasite (this is the original trunk realase button input pin, so there is a brown/red wire) and the other end of the switch circuit just connect to the GND. The button illumination is the same as the ESR or TPMS buttons.
  8. I replaced the wheel (thanks for the support!) and a few days ago also my old cluster with a MaxiDot and - of course - I have a few new question: I have not LIGHTS & VISION menu. Can I enable it somehow? (No light sensor installed, CH and cornering lights enabled via VCDS. ) And I see a "Personalisation active" setting at the address 17, ( Instruments), byte 2, bit 0 (or 1). What can that be? Thanks.
  9. I have an edited user lbl for the 5K0 953 569 (J 527 Steering wheel controller at adress 16) which does not match the current VCDS label file, but there are more descriptions in it. Some lines are uncertain and some others seems to me silly (yellow descriptions), does anyone know, are they good or not? Thanks! 10. The new type unofficially also has a replaceable arm. Unclip the thin ring, remove cover (3 x Torx 9), pull out the arm with the black counter part, and disconnect and replace the black cable. And just assembly with the new arm and wiring. The middle part and PCB panel, etc. are the same for each type/config. This is my old set, I quickly disassembled :
  11. The right stalk can be exchanged for a flat one without trip buttons from a 'dumb' set. It's just three small screws and a little manual dexterity. Their switching and mechanical elements are the same.
  12. The nice vRS wheel arrived today, but with two unexpected bonus DSG-paddles. Is this a problem or can I disconnect and ignore them? I think, there is no cover plate which fits in their place, right? edit: Ok, I found dilksie's post about it.
  13. Bad luck. :/ According to the skoda operating manual - title Memory - the buttons should work, but then there was no such configuration. https://ws.skoda-auto.com/OwnersManualService/Data/en/Octavia_1Z/11-2012/Manual/Octavia/A5_Octavia_OwnersManual.pdf Thanks. Again.
  14. There is some uncertainty here. Is there something I did not think about? Now I got a 5K0-953-569-H, 3-spoke MFSW and a 3T0 971 584 cable loom (I still have to make the latter from an old cable) . The car has cruise control, normal "dumb" cluster with b.computer (buttons on the right stalk), RNS510 Columbus+BT. Coding is no problem. Do I have to change the right stalk to a normal, without buttons? Or what problem I can face if I have a non-maxi dot cluster? Thanks.
  15. That's what I meant. Thanks for your time! Then I just have to do it.
