  1. Thanks to Nick for the support! I got to the pumps (x2 - so the single replacement I bought was wrong!). Both worked when connected to a 12v battery. I WD40'd the connections and re-assembled and it's working again although got an old issue (had it before) - water running out from the rear boot - and the washer isn't working. Skoda have said previously it was blocked jets which they cleared and the next day it stopped again (water leaking from boot to the floor), and then a new wiper mechanism was needed -changed under warranty. I'll hope it's some dislodged crud in the jets 😞 Cheers
  2. Hi Got a 2017 Superb 3 here - been mostly faultless (mostly!) for 90,000 miles. I've come to use it today and the washers do not work (the pump is not working at all). Checked the following: Fuse (42) - all good but replaced with a new 40 amp just in case Fluid level Both front and rear wipers work as expected Boot lid opens (also fuse 42) I've found another thread here about something similar but it's on a LHD car and some of the references/locations to connectors & controllers don't work on a RHD (I couldn't find anything!) My gut feel is the pump is dead but I'd have expected a fuse blow first. I'm not technically minded enough to start trying to trace pin outputs on connectors to a BCM (not that I could find it) so before I book it into a garage, I'd like to access the pump and change it (for the sake of £20, got to be worth it). Could anyone help me understand what's involved? I expected the bumper might need to come off but any guidance / links would be super helpful. Thanks in advance Si
  3. I normally stop the free car wash (one sponge / gritty scratches) but missed it today 😞
  4. Well well well.... just had a call... car not ready so "can I keep the courtesy car until tomorrow." "Yes, sure - what was it?" "sliding thing on the water pump". Ahhhhh. Only changed 2 months ago! Luckily covered under the warranty. I've probably covered 1,000 miles since the symptoms and not seen them again at all! Thanks all!
  5. I'm assuming the Skoda dealership used a genuine part! My worry was that without warning lights, there'd be no code for them to check - and if it's intermittent, they'll claim no fault found (despite it appearing to be a very common issue).
  6. Thanks Crasher. I'm hoping it's something as simple as that (albeit annoyed as the pump is 2 months old).
  7. Interesting thread, thank you. I'd like to work out how to remove the connector when it's working properly to get me through the next week or so of commutes but suspect I'd break something....
  8. Not had a sticking thermostat since my 1978 Mini 850! Hope it is that and not the pump (although that should be covered by the warranty)
  9. Hello all I have searched the forums and I'm pretty sure I know the most likely answer (a sticking electric water pump) but was thrown off a little by the conversation with the dealer this morning. In September, my car had a service (I've got the All in one insurance which covers that) and a camblet/water pump change (5 yrs old), which I paid for. All good so far. 2 months later, yesterday, heading towards the motorway for my 70 mile commute, 3 degrees outside... all is well until I join the motorway (takes me around 20 minutes of gentle country lane driving to get there). Everything as expected, heating working nicely. I join the motorway and put my foot down to join.... and then over the space of the next 60 seconds I'm in the outside lane (70mph ish). However, the last acceleration felt subdued and at that point I noticed the temp gauge at almost 130 (not quite in the red) - but no warning lights. Woooaaah I thought and gently backed off and worked my way back to the inside lane - ready to pull over. Probably taken my 20 seconds by now and I notice the gauge dropping. Within another 20 seconds it was back at 90 degrees. I didn't pull over (dark & wet hard shoulder) but watched it all the way into work and it didn't move again (as has been the case for 5 years). Got to work, popped the bonnet, water level ok and hot. Later, I needed to head home. This time I'm watching the gauge very closely and it took maybe 10 mins of town driving to get to 90 degrees.... where it sat until I joined the motorway. I join at a 50mph section so it was fairly gentle but the gauge rose to maybe 110 degrees where it hovered for 20 seconds before dropping back to 90 again, where it remained all the way home. I called my local Skoda dealer this morning, explained the issue/symptoms and they know the history (they did the service/cambelt/pump). Receptionist suggested "it may not be covered by your warranty". Now, maybe that's the stock answer but based on what you lot say in other threads, sounds like a sticking sleeved water pump, which is 2 months old that they replaced. Wonder how they will diagnose with no warning lights? Anyway, does this sound like a water pump issue? Thanks! Si
  10. This might help! Force is required.... https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/458594-removing-hatchback-internal-tailgate-trim-help/
  11. Thanks. I did try that first to be honest... The flow out of the boot is pretty fast so feels like a pipe's dropped off... Will have another go.
  12. Hi guys Got a 2017 hatch. Rear washer has just stopped working. The pump works and I can see the washer fluid dripping out of the area where the rear camera is fitted. I can't make out how to remove the inner trim of the hatch as I'm assuming a pipe has popped off. Any ideas or help greatly appreciated. Cheers Si
  13. Thanks Rick - checked it and it was on medium - but I've cycled through them and can hear the fan speed change. I've set it to high for now. Will keep an eye on it. I have had an odd occurrence on a few occasions - probably not associated at all - but the radio loses ALL stations and I have to repair my phone. Also noticed recently that my phone asks for the passcode when connecting via BT (even though I have it plugged in via cable). One to watch... Si
  14. None taken... And yes, auto on.... Been fine for 18 months and the precious Superb (4 yrs).
  15. Hi 2017 Superb SE-L (190 DSG) here. Love the car and all was good until last week when I was cold driving to work. I have the climate control set to 23 ish normally - but it was not getting there. Having had some time to play with it, I think it's the fan not blowing hard enough. I can turn up the heat to Hi and they don't blow any harder - although if I manually turn up the fan speed, it works perfectly. Any ideas guys? Known issue/easy fix or dealer visit? Thanks Si
  16. Yes, I'm satisfied. I don't think it was the dealer though - they found the issue, called the warranty department and they refused it... leaving the dealer no choice but to either not do the job or charge me. I just don't see why Skoda CS needed to talk to the dealer to see if they would refund me rather than give a voucher. While it is my local dealer (and I've bought 2 other cars from them), I didn't buy the one in question from them....
  17. Final update, I have a full refund by way of a cheque heading my way. Faith restored.
  18. Thanks all. Skoda have offered me the full amount (£255) by way of a voucher!!! I've politely told them er, no... I want a refund. They cannot do that and are going to speak to the dealer. I've told them to do that - before I do escalate to Rod McLeod. Seems I should have spent my time trying to find a dealer who could look at my vehicle "before" it was 6 months old (despite the one I used and the next nearest one being booked out for 4 weeks).. Having typed that, how would a layman know that the issue was a component allegedly only covered by 6 months! Not very happy. When they call back (assuming it's a no!), I'll pick them up on the "'BRAKE LININGS and DISC PADS' piece (thanks Offski)
  19. Hi Readings are (I'm told), 0.03 offside and 0.02 nearside (no idea what this means!). The issue presented itself about 8 weeks ago and become more noticeable over 2 to 3 weeks. Not been anywhere unusual, don't drive it hard.... weather in the UK has been pretty crap though!
  20. Thanks HWR Conversation has been had, politely of course. Facts shared. I have a case number and could take up to 48 hrs to get a resolution (hopefully the right one). I can't see how they could not honour it as the deal has confirmed the date I booked the slot (12th March). I've also told the dealer to do the work anyway -I'll pay for it - and it can be refunded later.... (this won't prejudice the case I'm told). Fingers crossed! Si
  21. Hi all. Looking for some tips on dealing with Skoda Customer Services. I've just had my car diagnosed with warped front discs and not covered under warranty (my car is 7 months old, 6,200 miles). Seems if it is older than 6 months or more than 6,000 miles, it is not covered (wear and tear). However, I've had to wait a month to get it booked in with my dealer (I made the booking on 12th March for today - and the car had around 5,500 miles on it then). Any tips to save me £255....? It's my first poor experience with Skoda (I've had a few cars over the years). Ta
  22. Had my first service today at Autosales Burntwood - and it really was first class. Some issues with the Skoda badges..changed under warranty. Polite, helpful, good price.... I'm very happy. Well done!
