Ordered 4 new Rainsport 3's from Demon Tweeks for the wife's VRS as they were doing them for £50 a corner Delivered and they've come back today and said that they are now out of stock and they have now been superseded by the Rainsport 5 which they will do for the same price. Has anyone had any yet? and if so are they any better\worse in any way? Better mileage would be good as she gets through a front set in about 8000 miles

For the extra £10-15 i'd buy new especially as the OSR are well known for the handbrake mechanism seizing so buying secondhand may be false economy.

I got a can of Gloss Finish from Paragon also a couple of months ago to the new silver (much cheaper) rear calipers on the wife's car and it does look better than the standard matt finish IMO. You can hardly tell I've used any even though I gave them two good coats before they were fitted so just the fronts to do now when/if the sun comes out. iI's just a pity you aren't closer or you could have had some for free :(

The wife has RS3's on and the fronts only lasted 8K but with the excellent grip and the fact you can get them for around £65 fitted meant that I had them fitted again. Thought it was the fact that she doesn't brake going round corners but maybe not

That's where I got my Rear Calipers from £85 delivered then £20 for 500ml High Temp Resistant Enamel paint which you can hardly tell I've touch even after doing the carriers as well. Will repaint the fronts calipers in the summer but if anyone from around my parts feels the need to repaint their drop me a message.

Cheers Chris I thought they would so will order them and get some Pantone 348 paint which will still work out about £60 cheaper but will mean I can give the carriers a refresh too.

Have decided to replace the Rear Calipers on the wife's VRS as the Handbrake isn't working that well and I've done the spring mod so I was wondering if anyone has fitted the TRW BHN275/BHN276 Silver ones instead of the BHN945/BHN946 Green ones as they are much cheaper at £53 each side. I've spoken to TRW and they say that the only difference is that the gap on the handbrake lever may be a tiny bit wider but their spec sheets only give the size of the gap for the 275/276 ones !! so I wondered if this caused any problems for anyone who has it?

The wife had a small bump in he MK1 VRS last year and as you never know how Insurance companies met the assessor to make sure he wouldn't scrap it but he said he valued it at £4- £4.5k which was really surprising as we paid £5.5k for it in 2011. It's done 65k and has Black/Yellow (a lot nicer than it sounds) leather & Cruise but other than the wheels being powder coated Light Anthracite it's still standard.

As Coskev says i found when doing the handbrake mod it did make a significant change to the amount of clicks needed to hold the car on an step drive, ours went from 6-7 clicks to 3-4.

Look in the extremely useful Fabia sticky in this section under handbrake mod. It costs about a fiver for the springs.

Just had a full set of Rainsport 3 fitted to the wife's mk1 Vrs at a cost of £67 each delivered and they seem as good as most seem to say they are. Also the OSR caliper is known to issues with not returning fully so may be worth doing the spring mod.

Just had 4 of these fitted yesterday that i got from Camskill for £67 delivered. Only paid £5 per wheel for fitting, Valve and Balance.
