  1. Evening all Just had my first service on my car after 18 months of fuss free ownership, can't fault the service from the dealer, Benfield Skoda in Newcastle, just have a question that I'm not sure about. Everything was ok with my car but on the report it said my front brake pads are 70% worn and will need replacing in 3 months, now the thing I'm confused with is that my car has only done 18500 miles, is this normal? I've never had to change brake pads at this mileage before, my previous car had 36k on when I part-ex'd it for my Octy and I'd never had the pads replaced on that. The dealer has quoted £182 for the work which I think is a bit steep but I don't want to scrimp on brakes lol. Has anyone else had to change pads at this sort of mileage? Mark
  2. Evening all My 1.2 Tsi SE does everything I need, only time my car struggles is when the car is full which is very rare to be honest. I do about 9k a year and generally get between 45mpg and 55mpg depending on what type of road I'm on. I'm thinking of going for the 1.4Tsi when it's time to change but for now I'm happy with my little 1.2  Mark
  3. Evening Classic I like the 1.2, it's a punchy little engine that doesn't struggle at all with the size of the car unless the car is fully loaded :S . I get around 47 mpg around town and high 50's on a steady run, it's not a Vrs but it does what I need and as it's my first ever Skoda I'm very pleased with it. Mark
  4. Evening all Had my Octy coming up for a year now its on a 3 year PCP and 0% finance, I put the limit at 10k and have just reached 10.5k this week. I've done a number of long trips to Duxford and around the Lake District this year so I'm not too worried about the 30k limit as I should be well under when the time comes to get a new one. I will be putting the car in part exchange for a new one when the time comes, can't see me driving anything else than a Skoda now   Mark
  5. Afternoon all I live in Newcastle Upon Tyne and I have only seen 4 MK3 Octavia's, one in white, one in blue and two in the same lovely colour as mine- Corrido Red lol. One of the red ones is a taxi and it stands out amongst the sea of MK2's used by the various taxi firms. I still think owning a Octavia is a little secret, only those who own and drive one really know how good the cars are. Mark
  6. Evening all The way I see it about the Stop/Start is if the car is out of gear and you release the clutch the engine will stop and when you depress the clutch again the engine starts. I tend not to put the handbrake on due to the fact I like the Hill Hold Control and I've finally got used to it lol. The only time I've noticed the S/S not to work is if I have the Auto Climate on , works fine with just the A/C though. One question I've meaning to ask about is whether the S/S uses more fuel than just leaving the engine running? Mark
  7. Evening all I've just filled out the 2015 Driver Power survey for my car, probably a bit early but what the hell might as well get it done Mark
  8. Morning Luke I love the colour, we had a choice of Metalic Silver or Corrida Red and I'm glad I chose the red. I've only seen one other Mk3 in Corrida Red on a 13 plate so it's nice to be a little bit exclusive. Yesterday I was stopped on Newcastle Quayside and a taxi driver was pointing and giving the thumbs up in approval lol. Look forward to seeing your VRS Estate, I'm sure it will be worth the wait Mark
  9. Evening all This is our Octavia 1.2TSi SE looking very lovely in Corrido Red after his first wash. Been a Skoda owner now for 6 weeks and I am totally hooked Finally got the post sorted, first time posting pictures Mark
  10. Evening all I've only had my 1.2 TSI for just under a week but I'm amazed at how relaxing it is too drive, it really is a very good little engine. I've not had it fully loaded yet but I'm not a boy racer anymore lol, MPG is more important than MPH  Mark

  12. Afternoon all Just a quickie to say hi to everyone on here. I'm about to become the proud owner of a Octavia 1.2tsi SE and I really can't wait. This is the first Skoda I've had after owning mainly Renault's, my current car is a Megane 1.6 110 Dynamique Tom Tom, but I wanted a change and after test driving the Octavia I was hooked. This will be my first brand new car as well as my first Skoda so role on 3rd March . Look forward to browsing and gettng involved in the forums. Mark
