  1. Great stuff lads, at least that's cleared up and saves me a headache trying to get it in. Have to sell this one so ha.
  2. Hi all, I have got my hands on a 2nd hand instrument cluster part no 1Z0 920 842J, it's a KM/H one with Maxidot. My car is a PD engine mark 2 VRS. I'm in Ireland and just wondering if that part number is for the PD engine. I've read somewhere on here that if it turns out to be from a CR engine it won't be possible. Anyone be able to shed any light on this? Do I have the right one? Also I presume a Skoda garage won't touch this. Anyone in Ireland know anyone who is able to do the job? Or even if there's somewhere in the UK that's not too far of a drive from Holyhead that could do it? That's if it's even possible.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I solved it eventually. It was that there was a Nokia car kit in it with a relay box and I took out the kit and relay box and so the signal wasn't going through the contacts on the relay anymore. Stuck back in the box and it's working fine. After market wiring. Going to leave the wiring there and put back in the car kit and old radio when I go to sell it.
  4. That's very good info. Means I should be able to put the Nokia car kit into the woman's Lupo without having to take all the wiring out of mine and reuse it. Why would they not just do it that way? Far simpler. And this was done by a business that installs car kits.
  5. Problem pretty much solved now. I got the relay box off the Nokia car kit and plugged it back in to it's connector. Obviously just needed to have whatever cables going through the closed contacts on the relay box. All sound is back now. Just going to leave all the additional wiring tucked away. Would be nice to have the wiring removed and left back stock but then again when I go to sell the car I can just put back in the stream mp3 and plug back in the rest of the Nokia car kit again. Done. Thanks for the help but probably no need to check the vcds settings now rainbowfire unless there is any little tweaks that could be performed with this setup. Is it possible to turn on the reversing graphics? Have the beeps anyway so no big deal anyway. Only thing that doesn't work with this is the AUX in under the arm rest. Probably can't have this working and have the aux on the front of the unit working too. Best thing is I've saved a fortune just putting the relay box back in. The auto electrical place charge about 80 euro an hour plus whatever connectors they would use. By the time they get the glove box off and alter the wiring it would be upwards of 200 euro I would say. So that's not happening.
  6. Just back from an auto electrician there. He had the full diagnostic tools. He said he couldn't communicate with the radio because there seems to be some after market wiring in it. Which is true I would think because it had a Nokia car kit in it and I took it out. The connectors at the back also are a bit mangled and he detected some intermittent failure I think he said of the radio. I saw the pin receivers on the sockets are a bit mangled so that's probably bang on too. He thinks that if they restore the wiring back to the way it should be then it might just work straight off. Or at least he will be able to communicate with it. Have it booked in for next Friday provisionally but I think I might try go at it myself. He thought that the sockets were not original ones and that hopefully the original ones are tucked away at the back. Would this make sense? Would a Nokia car kit be wired in like this? I know there is two other looms behind the climatronic dials. One small one wasn't used and the other one with more wires was connected to a relay box to mute the speakers when you get a call. Gonna try get this all out maybe without going back to them.
  7. Yeah they didn't really seem to be very knowledgeable in this matter. The first service guy said he never heard of such a thing and the next wasn't overly sure about what it could be. I don't want to leave it in for them to ***** around for an hour to fix it costing me 100 euro. Should any auto electrician be familiar with or would they even have vcds?
  8. I have a 2008 diesel vrs and the Amundsen+ came out of a 2012 vrs. I haven't done anything with vcds or the can gateway. I don't have access to vcds and am in Ireland so probably not too many around with it. Surely it would be a simple enough fix. Rang a skoda dealer today and they were talking about booking the car in for an hour and it would be 100 euro.
  9. Hello all, I put an Amundsen+ from a crashed vrs into mine. Mine originally had a stream mp3 unit. Everything works except any sound output, sat nav, mic for calls (people can hear me but I can't hear them on the phone) and can hear cd changer changing cds. Getting nothing out of the speakers. On reading around I think maybe the car this came out of had an upgraded sound system maybe with an external amp and my car doesn't have one. Can you get the unit to use it's own internal amplifier on vcds? Would anyone have any ideas if this is something that could be fixed via vcds. Hoping it is and that I haven't bought a bogey.
  10. That would be great. After a bit of reading I came across a thread that said the new radio could have been set up to use an external amplifier for an upgraded sound system option. And my car had a stream mp3 in it so probably doesn't have an external amplifier. It's pre loved alright, out of a crashed 2012 from a breakers yard. That would be great if you found the screen with the settings if you get time.
  11. Hello all, this new radio is becoming a bit of a curse. Got the code eventually and everything functions on it. Sat nav, cd changer and even when I make a call the person can hear me. I have absolutely no sound though. Is this just a connection issue or is there any canbus code I need to get done to it? I originally had a stream mp3 and this new radio is an Amundsen+. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  12. That's good, be keeping the old one just incase. If I get rid of it don't you know the new one will get robbed. Went into a few dealers yesterday (Saturday) but it's only sales staff in on a Saturday so I have to try ring them and get the code over the phone with a bit of luck they will give it to me. Worst case scenario a very nice woman in one of the dealers said if I email her the reg of the car it came out of and the serial number of the radio she will get it for me on Wednesday and email it to me. Did her one better and got the chassis number out of the next dealers.
  13. Yeah I'll go to a dealer tomorrow and see what they say. Bit of a grey area really isn't it. Got it for 200 euro out of a 2012 crashed vrs, pretty sure I did extremely well though at that price. Fitted the gps arial and an oem mic into the mesh on the light too. Pity I need the code after all that. I messaged the guy from the breakers to see if the code happens to be in the manual for the radio that is possibly still in the glove box. Not sure if the code would be in the manual though, think they are sometimes.
  14. Got a sat nav, Amundsen+, from a breakers yard and he told me the number on the side was the code but it's actually the reg number. How or where do I get the code? Can I get it online or will a skoda dealer give it to me? Anyone any experience of this? Thanks
  15. Anyone used one of these? Looks a bit too good to be true. Does loads of different cars.
  16. I got the fascia in the post. Ordered a silver one off superskoda to keep it the same as what is in the car already and it turned up black. Think I will just keep it anyway to save the hassle. Also for anyone who may have a similar project to do in the future I have the part number. It is IZ0-858-069-C-9B9 as per the photo of the label on the bag it came in, same bag you were looking for I would imagine. Put up the photo incase there is other numbers or useful info on it for someone. Might put up a few photos of the installation of the radio if I get a chance.
  17. Thanks again for all the help. Hopefully this thread will help someone else doing something similar.
  18. Very very nice, that's the job. I just bought this. Came in at roughly 16 or 17 euro with Sterling conversion charge and all that including shipping. Saved me a third at least off what I would have been paying there. Thanks, appreciate it.
  19. The code for the Amundsen is scribbled on to the back in pen. Don't know how they had the code but hopefully it works and I don't need to pay more to get it up and running. Have to register the vrs in Ireland in a few weeks and get the Irish plates on it so will put the Amundsen in after that so I don't get caught for extras when paying the import tax. Edited because I just rang a dealer about a fascia. They hadn't a breeze what I was talking about, they had some fascia that would fit a bolero but couldn't tell me if it was the one that would suit the climatronic display. Would have to order it and take a chance. I'll be buying that one off superskoda I think to save time and hassle. 30 euro for it on superskoda, bit overpriced but not too bad. The guy on the phone also had a conversion kit for non skoda radios for 100 euro, madness. Unless someone happens to have a skoda part number for it.
  20. Thanks, thats good info. Will go with a camera, probably the Audi A1 one. Also will get a mic. This makes the Nokia car kit that came fitted redundant now but its a bit tidier through the radio. As for the reverse graphic, I dont need it anyway. The beeps are enough, I dont think I have ever looked at the graphic for it on the stream. If I wanted to sell the stream, now I probably wont just incase, can I get the code for it somehow? Where and how would I get it?
  21. Not rude at all. I got it in a breakers yard near me. 200 euro is all it cost which is pretty good I think. The car it came out of is in a bad way http://www.adverts.ie/car-parts-accessories/2012-skoda-octavia-vrs-tdi-breaking/4331234 Was looking at the car in the yard, the structure of the car held up pretty well. The guy walked out of it.
  22. Thats a very helpful reply, thanks. Is there no way to code the radio so the reverse sensors show graphically on the amundsen? I have the mac address so the bluetooth is there. Big rectangular connection also so a reversing camera will be a little project down the line. No DAB by the look of it, no black round connection. So you think the both AUX connections will work perhaps with coding? Would be nice if the one under the armrest still works, be a bit neater than hanging a cable out the front of the unit. Will ring a Skoda dealer and find out how much they want for a fascia. Also can I get the coding done at a dealer or is it the kind of thing you can get done anywhere? Im in Ireland so not sure about where to get it done except the dealers. Thanks again for your reply, very helpful and infomative.
  23. Great stuff. Thanks very much. Its a UK import into Ireland I have so I wont be fitting it until after I pay the VRT import taxes so I dont get charged for it as an extra. Anyone done this before? Do the rear parking sensors still work and are they represented graphically on the unit? Also I have the Aux connection under the arm rest, will this also still work along with the aux on the front of the unit? Anyone gone from Stream mp3 to Amundsen+ and knows what works and what doesnt?
