ESP / ABS G201 Failure (Teves MK60) - List
djdazzy replied to scouter2's topic in Skoda Octavia Guides
Did you threaten court or did they just do it no quibble? -
Dunlops on my 56 plate, they are total carp and the tread cracked up on them after about 2.5 years. Got the geometry set up correctly and Rainsport 2's put on and the car is a lot quieter and handles better.

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/154492-suspension-geometry-settings-on-fl-vrs/#entry1915874 This is for the vRS.

Excellent, thanks.

Geometric set up was changed on the mk2 vrs due to sawtooth wear on tyres. My tyres only lasted about 10k due to this, had the geometry changed to the new recommended settings and the new tyres have done 6k already with virtually no visible wear.

tfsi cam follower & diverter valve
djdazzy replied to steve33's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Mine looked worst than that and the car had only 13k. -
Hi, I would be grateful if someone could clarify this for me. My Octavia was delivered with QG1 variable service interval but set to QC2 by the dealer when it was on a service plan. Can it be reset to QG1 again now at service? I have seen conflicting information on the net but the service manual suggests it can. Cheers, Dave.

Fabia VRS disc pad anti-squeal shims ?
djdazzy replied to giandougl's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Can't the shims that are taken off with the old pads be refitted? -
Not seen pictures but there is a good youtube video in this thread.

Thank you. Down to nuts and bolts eh? Enough said !

I was attempting humour How do you know you have still have the original plugs in your car? You only bought it last year....
-
Excellent, I will let you know in a few months if my NGK plugs lasted longer than the OEM bosch ones.

VRS missfire (BLT engine and no check light)
djdazzy replied to Loose Hand Luke's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I believe SEAT remap this "feature" out of cars exhibiting this. Skoda were drilling the 9mm gasket to 14mm when my car was done back in 2007. -

Interesting I pick up Quantum Platinum for 20 quid in November. As long as it is 505 01 spec it will be fine. -
I have had the 14mm gasket fitted - it doesn't completely fix the issue and still hesitates when cold. I have read somewhere that SEAT remap this out on BLT engines but SUK only do the gasket fix. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/259603-vrs-missfire-blt-engine-and-no-check-light/
-
Is it the 1800rpm hesitation issue? If so, there is a 14mm gasket fix for BLT engines.
-
The "genuine" bosch ones on mine lasted just over 3 years before they started to fail. My car seems to start better on the NGK ones. I think TPS were a lot dearer than 28 quid a set when I rang them.
-
I have replaced my factory fit bosch glow plugs with NGK ones after one failed. Replace the set as after I replaced one, two others failed within the year. Seems to run ok on NGK. You need a longer socket and a torque wrench to complete the task. 28 quid a set here. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4x-NGK-NTK-Diesel-D-Heater-Glow-Plugs-SKODA-FABIA-1-1-9-V-RS-VRS-03-08-5065-/160858016033?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2573e28921

Perhaps the sipes aren't effective below 4mm? All the tyre documents I have read said replace the tyre at 4mm.
-
The sipes are worn out at 4mm which will give you a lot of extra grip in the ice and snow. Check your tread print in the snow and the razor thin sipe cut splits open on the road surface improving traction. The softer rubber also helps as summer rubber is rock hard at sub zero temperatures.

Go to TPS and get the VAG parts. Quantum Platinum PD Oil is only 20 quid per 5 litres and the filters aren't any more expensive than anywhere else. I use NGK glow plugs as the factory fit bosch ones failed in under 4 years of use.
