  1. That's the same mpg I get on mine. Makes me cry inside when I see the maxidot, so I don't have it on that setting anymore. On, and the £265 road fund licence was a real kick in the dangles too. But I knew this when I bought the car, and I still love it
  2. Just had a service from Dennis Horton in Lincoln. £150 for an interval check... Looks like an oil and filter change at the spec sheet. I asked them to check the software and the mentioned the maps were out of date but wanted £35 to update them. Looking at this thread, it looks like a bargain for a dealer, but I was under the impression it would be free. Should I go back and get them to upgrade it? Or is there anyone in the Lincoln area that can help me out?
  3. I have the 1.8tsi 4x4 and it's a fantastic engine and car. mpg wise your looking at less than 30 most of the time, but like you I don't do many miles so I don't mind so much. I love the engine though, and remapped you can add another 35bhp with not much effect on mpg from what I hear. The main thing is the stability of the 4x4. In the wet it just takes off and I find it feels very safe on the road. I can't wait for some snow/ice to see how it handles that. £265 tax which makes me cry, especially since my ex bosses Audi TT tfsi is £200. But it makes me smile though, every time I drive it. Oh, and beating boy racer's at the lights is great. Any questions let me know
  4. Great. Thanks for the info mate. I will monitor my mpg but it seems about the same
  5. Interesting Ned. Ihave been toying with the idea of getting my Tsi remapped, but I daren't until the manufacturer's warranty runs out in October next year. My estate is a big car, but sometimes I want that bit more oomph. What is your average mpg? Mine isn't a patch on my previous Passat diesel. I won't say I was naive, but I seem to have halved my old mpg, and I wasn't expecting that!
  6. Haha, took me a second to get that one lol
  7. My 56 Plate VW Passat with Catalunya alloys had the same. The Catalunya's were renowned for it. All you could do was get them refurbished if you were out of warranty

Looks pretty standard on the rest of the spec. It doesn't mention the rear view mirror which is strange. It also came with a full size spare wheel - albeit a steely 16 inch. I have already found the Skoda love around Lincoln, with fellow Skoda drivers letting me out on junctions where I would usually wait a while... or maybe I was just lucky. Excellent find on the code checker
  9. That maybe so mate. I will probably forget about the option after a while. I wonder how you find what options the car was built with? As the VW dealer didn't advertise the park assist, heated front screen and auto dimming mirror as the didn't know about them. Do you think the Skoda main dealer would run a print out with this on? also, is there a vcds option to enable playing DVD while on the move? Obviously this is for the little one in the back seat.
  10. Well, so far I am very impressed. Goes like Sh$$ off a shovel, the bi-xenons are absolutely fantastic, but the best thing I didn't realise it has - park assist. I have just driven round the block 4 times letting it parallel park me into different spots. Very weird the first couple of times. Not sure if it's a gimmick yet, I generally like to park myself, but the ball and chain will be happy about it.
  11. Ha! bloody Army.. your just jealous becuse while your diggin in, we're checking in!
  12. I am at RAF Waddington mate. I have to wait till I finish work to pick her up though. Grrr

  14. I am no fitness freak, but the physical training instructors where I work (military) say interval training is the best way to build your fitness. On the treadmill, 1 min running at a fast pace, then 1 min jog/fast walk. Try for 20 mins. Once your happy with this and feel like its not challenging you, increase the run time to 1.5 mins but keep the jog time the same. You can increase the run time, or run speed, or both, to give you more of a challenge. Remember on the treadmill to have your incline at at lease 1 degree up, this helps save your joints. I you run outside, I find this much harder than the treadmill. If I do 5km on treadmill, them next day 5km on the road, I find the road much more challenging because you don't set your speed on the road to run to and you are constantly adjusting your stride. Ultimately, it's more rewarding. Congrats on starting training though. You are already lapping everyone on the couch, and helping yourself live longer, sleep better, have more energy and dare I say it, have a better sex life!
  15. Haha thanks mate. I find it amazing to bump into my opposite neighbour on here without even knowing who you were on this site. Small, small world. You can take it for a spin over the weekend if you catch me free mate.
