I'm about to buy new '07 vRS and from what I can tell, it's no big deal to replace the EGR gasket with a new one drilled out to whatever size you like (the emissions level is then up to you). It sounds like the 'legal' skoda fix is too conservative to fix the problem having to meet new EU4 regs. Also, I'm trying to find out if VAG-COM is able to turn down the EGR valve on the 06+ models. Anyone know ? Failing that a remap - but that puts the warrantee in jeopardy ? All this is very annoying as Skoda have bodged what seems to be a great car and their response is sub-standard. :(

In the 06+ model do you suspect that not only did they fit a wider gasket in the factory to re-circulate more exhaust gas, but also changed the ECU settings to open the EGR valve wider ? Perhaps this would explain why the gasket fix alone doesn't completely work ? Does anyone know which remaps fix the stutter and get the fuel economy promised ?

Can anybody confirm that they have used VAG-COM to reduce the opening of the EGR valve (on a 2006/7 vRS) to get rid of any stutter ? The guys at ross-tech haven't tested this on the vRS. I don't want to end up wasting my money on VAG-COM otherwise.

so you just had the new EGR gasket, no ECU remap ? how bad was the stutter before the fix ?

so your's was new 9 months ago and no stutter at all so far ? i will talk to the dealer to see if they are aware of the stutter in some cars (and be prepared to fix it if necessary) yes, the EGR gasket fix sounds easy, but some people have said it doesn't always work i hope to enjoy it !

Is the stutter still an EGR fix that needs to be done by a dealer after delivery ? I ordered a new vRS on Friday before I found this topic - wondering if I should proceed with the purchase. Can't believe they are selling cars with this issue. Shouldn't they have all been fixed in the factory. The '06 car I test drove last week didn't show any problems (could have been fixed already ?)
