Have you checked the coolant level? Has it dropped? Either way, your car is under warranty - get it booked in and checked out.

Led headlights.. Beam throw length...
JulieD replied to RickTT's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
With xenon headlights you need to use diagnostics to put the car into a learning mode before physically resetting the beam alignment. If you don’t do this there is a danger you’ll damage the adjusters when the car goes through it’s self check when you put the lights on (ie where the lights lower and then raise to usual height). I suspect LED headlights will be the same. -
skoda octavia 3 Issues after key coding
JulieD replied to OndrejDr's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Yes, as Sasha says your garage have inadvertently disabled some of the features when they coded the keys. Quite frankly they should be bending over backwards to get the car back in and sorted at a minimum of inconvenience to you. In your position I would ask to speak to the aftersales manager to get it sorted, and if that doesn’t get a satisfactory outcome go to Skoda Customer Services.- 4 replies

Lots of possible reasons. The only way you’ll know for sure is to have the codes read

If there was an issue with your battery stop start would not be available

I don’t think they’re a service item, just change them if they fail

They’ll be fine. ET on the standard vRS Gemini wheel is 51 https://www.theskodashop.co.uk/collections/skoda-wheels/products/alloy-wheel-gemini-18-for-octavia-iii-anthracite

I changed the interior bulbs to osram led bulbs with no issues. As for VCDS, there is a section on the forum somewhere with a map of members who have it , so you should be able to find someone local to you who could help you out.

Errors our of nowhere ? Stop-start, cruise control etc
JulieD replied to fat4l's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
The dealers have a diagnostic tool for batteries that will tell if the battery is defective or not. Provided you don’t have any non standard installations it should be a straight forward warranty job if the battery is defective. -

No point guessing, get it checked out either at the dealers or by someone with VCDS -
It's a one off charge and enables Apple Car Play, Android Auto and Mirror Link. If you don't have satnav it's well worth it.

Upgrading Lights on Early MK3 Octavia vRS
JulieD replied to Houndog1372's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I upgraded all the interior bulbs with the osram led bulbs that uchuff linked to, including the boot lights and glovebox light. Just double check the lights work after you fit the new bulb and if they don’t just turn them through 180 degrees -
Modern VAG cars have micro switches within the locking mechs
-
Try unplugging the light and checking the voltage at the plug. I had a boot light unit fail somehow which you wouldn’t think possible looking at it, but a new lamp unit sorted the problem.

2014 VRS Paint around spoiler blistering
JulieD replied to TheBinarySheep's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
If the spoiler is bonded on as well as bolted it will probably distort when it’s removed -
What to buy next? Any thoughts?
JulieD replied to SkodaVRS1963's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
The Superb and Passat are very different to the Octavia in terms of refinement and driving experience. If comfort and refinement are important to you the Passat or Superb would be best, but the Octavia is a more ni bike car than them. There’s a new model Passat due later this year so you should be able to get a good deal on a current one if you want one. You really need to try all three over familiar roads so you can decide which will suit you best. -
Battery flat after a few mins ignition on
JulieD replied to Basillboy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
The dealers diagnostic equipment will soon be able to tell whether or not the battery is faulty. Should be a warranty job provided the car is still under warranty and there is no aftermarket wiring causing a current drain. -
Opinions on the 19" Extreme Alloys
JulieD replied to Brooksuk's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Aren’t tyre pressures supposed to be set when the tyres are cold? So just how long will this policeman need to detain you at the roadside to check your tyre pressures with his calibrated pressure gauge??? -
"Misting" Front Shock Absorbers??????
JulieD replied to Jimbo1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Volkswagen have a TPI covering shock absorbers that provides dealers with guidance on what they will or will not accept as a warranty claim. They will replace leaking dampers under warranty, but light misting is considered normal and won’t be covered. Skoda no doubt will be the same. -
New wheels and tires for my OIII
JulieD replied to hirez's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
They look great. Vibrations at those speeds are probably down to wheel balance which should be easily sorted. Perhaps a stick on weight has fallen off. -
What phone is it and what cable are you using? If it’s an iPhone you’ll need to use the genuine cable that came with it - it just doesn’t work with cheap third party cables

190 TSI or 245 VRS? - Ride Quality
JulieD replied to Woody37's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
We have a vRS estate on 18s with standard suspension. The ride quality is good. It’s a bit firmer than the Yetis we had, but much more comfortable than our Golf GTI on 19s. The Octavia has a longer wheelbase than the Golf and that helps ride quality
