I've had a new battery recently (Octavia Mk111), could not get to Skoda dealer (lockdown) so ordered Bosch online as recommended but really helpful service guy said new battery has to be reprogrammed in - local garage did it via diagnostic plug. Apparently management compensates for detected flat/suspect battery by boosting charge etc and will continue doing so to new battery and damaging it. Oh for classic car that you can work on!! I now have car in dealers as unplugged electricals under heated seats due to water ingress (long story) and after connecting again all electrics are a complete mess - warning lights about everything and car undriveable. Should have gone to dealers to sort, my bad.?
