Interesting thread . Last 4 cars have been - 1.4tdi furby estate , 1.4tdi Roomster 2 , 1.6hdi Peugeot 207SW ( sorry , senior moment ! ) and currently 1.9tdi Roomster 3 . The majority of abuse comes from the in-betweenies who think they know about cars , but dont . Those who are ' in the know'appreciate the marque for what it is . Interestingly any passengers with 'real' needs and values are always impressed with the same things as me ie. room , pace , value , comfort and fuel economy . I am not blinkered enough to think Skoda is the be-all and end-all of motor cars , but for my personal circumstances they have been - and hopefully always will be great !
-
For what it's worth I (slightly biased ) think that the Roomster is an example of function before fashion . It does what it says on the tin - very well . And as for people calling it ugly , I find that similar to those who haven't caught on yet and think ( and sometimes even dare say ) that we 'only ' drive Skodas as if when we got to the car showroom that was all that was left !

Fakes my ar*e . Seriously folks , just lucky . Gemma ( the 12 year old Lurcher ) caught sprinting in the snow in the grounds of a local hospital 5 minutes from house 2 years ago . The rainbow one , one of three exposures , once I saw the rainbow I had to kneel on the ground to get it , and I think she stood still because the could smell deer ! That was taken south of Braemar last year . As regards snow , very little here in Aberdeen , about 2 inches this morning @ 5 , now almost all gone at lunchtime . As the original post was 'snow and dogs' dog still going strong , but not nearly enough snow here for pics , the Scottish ski-ing season or even my sledge !

First attempt at posting pics but................... I seem to be rubbish at it ! will try again tomorrow once I've sussed out this photobucket thing !

What are you paying for diesel at the moment?
3td replied to Blanes's topic in General Automotive Chat
Got an email from petrolprices.com today - cheapest in town ( Aberdeen ) currently 107.9 at 1 of the three ASDAS's in town , several others @ 108.9 . I'm off on holiday next week to the west coast and dreading the price over there ! -
It's black and white - are you a taxi driver by any chance ?

Another way to de-activate interior sensors is to press the remote twice when locking it . I usually have my dog in mine so it's twice unlock to let her in to the boot and twice lock to leave her in the car . ( Although the times I've forgotten and the alarm goes off she just sits there with a bemused look in her eyes as if ' he ought to know better by now ' )

Audible warning for icy conditions?
3td replied to Whippetlady's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I used to get bongs in a 54 plate fabia elegance at 4 degrees and now get them in a ( non-maxidot ) Roomster 2 -
Out and about today in north-east scotland in my roomster - did about 60 miles - saw 3 others , yet some people at work have yet to see 1 ( or don't know what it looks kike ! ) As an aside did quick head count at SWMBO's work car park on friday - Skoda 4 Volvo 1 VW 4 Ford 2 Mazda 1 Toyota 3 Honda 2 Vauxhall 1 Looks as though the message is finally getting across !

Welcome to BRISKODA - we need more roomsters on here !

Been in Atlanta the last three years around september , last time took navman + USA maps on SD card . Made the whole trip a pleasure , unlike the usual route finding / navigation / arguement stress . If you can borrow / acquire a F20 I could even lend you the card .

New wheels pics/ and front grill and an update

Are those wheels spinners ?????????? Sorry , look too shiny and a pain to keep clean . -
As you're discussing women of the night another tale springs to mind : Three prostitutes get together and discuss how they rate the success of an evening ,the first one ( very high-class ) says that , the gets home , has a relaxing bath , aromatherapy candles , some light classical music on the hi-fi , sips some champagne and if she tingles a bit, she knows she'shad a good night ! The second one ( more middle class ) says , she gets home , has a shower , listens to her Robbie Williams CD , has a Bacardi and Coke , tingles a bit and thinks " that was a good night !" The third one ( a real scrubber ) says " I get home , undress , throw my knickers against the wall , and if they stick , I know I've had a good night !

Had 2 anti-skoda experiences last weekend . I try not to accelarate / brake needlessly , just keep a nice steady speed based on road conditions , a reasonably handling car and only having 80bhp ( ideally 55-60 on B roads ) only really overtaking if someone in front is dithering . passed one such ditherer in an Omega estate last sunday only for him to immediately ( and unsafely ) pass me and spend the next 20 miles doing 70 on straights and 30 on bends . once he had gone similar experience with a Freelander . I do not lower myself to the challenge of trying to prove who is the biggest idiot , just set my trip computer to instant mpg and chuckle to myself at what it costs them in fuel and brake wear to avoid the embarrasment of being passed by a diesel Roomster !

If you are only thinking of ordering why not go the factory option route ? I believe the high post purchase price has something to do with removing / refitting headlining as I too was put off by this . ( as mine was ex demo I only had this choice so rebelled at price )

I had to hire one last spring coz I trashed furby clutch on holiday in Cumbria . What got to me most was on the twisty hilly ( aren't they all ! ) road from Ambleside up to the rented cottage discovered it had cornering lights activated by a given amount of steering . There's me , doing my best to re-live my road-rally days and roast it uphill , when every five seconds there's a random flash of light at a front corner ! Sorry , misread thread . Although it was last year it was a new-style clio - still rubbish though!:thumbdwn:

All the best to you and your family Mike . We've never met ( and probably never will ) but I'd just like to add to the support being shown on here . I've had a few bad times too , mainly stress at last job , only redeeming feature was I could take my dog to work and talk things over with her ( even after she went deaf !) Once we lost her and the crapometer went off the scale again I just walked . Out of work 6 months , now working at local Sainsbury's for less money ,but with nice people .

I know nothing about your towbar question , but What is a Roomster Sport ?
-
Even skoda going a strange ( in my mind ) route re temperature gauge etc. I went from 54 plate ambiente fabia to a 56 plate roomster level 2 . Gained alloys , 2 front cup holders & aux input for mp3 but lost temperature gauge , remote fuel flap , lid for small drivers side cubby & front fogs . Chuffed with the car so will just have to live with it , but just seems strange !

What is it with customer service here?
3td replied to harveys's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
If the Maud garage is in the wrong direction why not try "Thomson & Potter " in Burrelton . ( Just south of Coupar Angus ) Don't let an unlucky fault with your car combine with an ineffective local dealer get you down ! -
Welcome to briskoda , Roomsters are carving a niche all to themselves !

Clock - eating parrot ?

Think " Mapquest " used to be quite good if you had zip codes to hand . Been across seeing family the last three or four years , last year took my navman sat nav + a USA memory card , made the whole trip so much more relaxed with only having to concentrate on driving at the wrong side and not rely on SWMBO's navigational skills !

If you're in Aberdeenshire why not try Victoria Garage in Maud ? Think they are only classed as " accreddited repairers " or something like that as opposed to a dealership but should be good for warranty work . Check out other comments on here ( not just mine ! ) Got my last furby serviced / mot'd by them , then bought a ex-demo roomy , treated well - nice people ! -
Car / photography / location all excellent ! I'd be worried about plate being cloned though .
