  1. Another good service experience at Beadles Maidstone. Booked in at relatively short notice for a Saturday morning, left the Superb with them and took the dog for a walk. Heavens opened so spent an hour sitting in the waiting area reading a good selection of magazines with a wet dog at my feet! Service was carried out promptly, all paperwork sorted with minimal fuss and even fitted some new sidelight bulbs for me FOC. Matt on service desk should get a pat on the back!
  2. I had mine installed by the dealer so I can't help there I'm afraid. The installation for the Superb is neat and is in the cubby hole under the front centre armrest though. Good luck!
  3. You may find, as I do, that your iPod will occasionally 'freeze' and need resetting. If your iPod is in the boot, this could be a little tricky!
  4. Is that your car or a picture from space?! Doesn't look good. Good luck with the dealer.
  5. I've just collected my car after a trip to Beadles in Maidstone. I needed the right sided scroll wheel on the multi-function wheel replacing and so I asked, seeing as the car was still under warranty, could they swap the badges too as they were all showing signs of corrosion. They ordered in the 'old' style ones but then I asked if they could swap them for the new ones. They couldn't have been more helpful, ordered in the new parts and fitted them without any fuss. I'd explained about breaking off the plastic nodules and given them a link to a thread from here showing how it was done. The car looks fantastic from such a minor change, and it just shows that there are some good dealers out there!
  6. You'd think wouldn't you! But have you seen how much some breeds of puppy go for these days? And not just pedigree ones either. In some cases double the cost of Chris's cage!
  7. This is where I got mine from, reasonable at about £40 but very well built. Obviously depends on what size of cage you need as to how much it will cost. http://www.doghealth.co.uk/collections/cages-crates Chris - that's two big dogs!!!
  8. What type of dog do you have? Would it not be easier, and safer, to get a travel cage? I have a springer spaniel and have a 2 door cage which I lift in and out of the boot as required. I have a rubber liner on the floor of the boot which stops it slipping around and use the metal fixing bar of the adjustable boot set to secure it further.
  9. Can't comment on the manual gearbox but have had my DSG Superb for about 2 months now, mated to the 2.0TDi (170) engine and have to say that I love it. Lends itself to the car very well and is easy to drive. If you prefer quicker upshifts then you have the Sports mode but also the option to self-shift if you so wish. Am very pleased!
  10. Anyone else want to know what the outcome of this was?! Dave???!!!
  11. Mine went the other way, wouldn't drop then all of a sudden it started. The wing mirror selector was in the same position the whole time!
  12. 3 months is a pretty standard delivery time whichever brand you purchase I think, if it is built from scratch. If you're lucky a dealer can amend the spec of a car already in the system, which means that you only wait, say, 6 weeks for your car, but that car has still been 'in the system' for around 3 months. Enjoy the wait though, you'll definitely enjoy the car!
  13. Assuming that you won the bidding process, the dealer would have to be very careful about not giving your money back should you change your mind (for any reason) under the Distance Selling Regulations. Good luck though!
  14. I fitted a set of these to a previous BMW 3 Series replacing the standard fit bulbs, and have to say that other than being a bit 'whiter', I didn't really notice a notable increase in the performance - not compared to what I expected when reading the '70% more light' claim!!
  15. Thanks for advice, have adjusted the Aux Level to low and this seems to have improved the sound although still not completely happy. Going to call dealers today and talk it through with them, see about changing the lead.
  16. I'll agree with robski90 on that, my Superb is the first automatic car that I've owned and I love it. It will take a bit of getting used to initially but once you're passed that it's a great gearbox. The only slight downside is the tendancy to change into as higher gear as possible, which is fine most of the time but if entering a corner, or as previously mentioned when going downhill, you may need to override with the manual selector or paddles and choose one gear lower to give you a little more control. It does become second nature though. I do also get a little smile when accelerating hard and I see the rev needle drop instantly when the next gear takes over, instead of the gradual fall away you get on a manual or normal auto car! Small things I know!!
  17. Can I just check, when you are saying the lead may be at fault, are you meaning the lead from the head unit to the MDI plug (located in the centre armrest pocket) or the short lead from the MDI plug to the iPod? Or both?!
  18. Thanks for the advice guys, I'll try the aux level first and see how that affects it. If not I'll be on to the dealer to get the lead swapped. Thanks for your help so far!
  19. I've not long owned my Superb but when buying it I asked for the MDI cable to be installed so I could play my iPod through the Columbus with full control. At first it seemed to work fine but recently I have noticed that the quality of sound is really poor. The bass seems to distort very easily and the treble sounds muffled almost, even at low volume. I've made sure that the connections are all correct, and have ensured they are all clean. I've changed the EQ settings on the iPod to see if this affects it but whilst it does change some sound characteristics, the distortion is still there. The sound quality from the radio/cd player is good, as is the sound from the bluetooth connection from my iPhone. I've tried listening to the same song through the MDI and then through the bluetooth and there is a marked difference in quality. The idea of having the MDI was so that I have full control through the Columbus and the steering wheel and obviously my iPod contains more music than my iPhone. Before I speak to the dealer I was just wondering if anyone had experienced similar problems, or have I just got a bad lead! Any help much appreciated.
  20. Another one that I thought of today, whilst trying to stop something sliding around in my door pockets: - either small dividers in the large pockets on the front doors or - some form of rubber liner to stop things sliding around or - both!!
  21. - Bigger fuel tank for sure, my last Audi A4 had a 70 litre tank which was just perfect for my week's driving, now I really notice that extra 10 litres! - Electrically movable steering wheel - A Sport variant with sports seats and stiffer suspension (not everyone's cup of tea I know but would still be a good option) - Reversing camera - Increased functionality for the clock/temperature readout in the rear This has got me thinking now!
  22. Coops - good use of your boot hooks! Very tidy!
