  1. I went through this with my now ex 2005 1.9 TDI Octavia. I changed Battery, Coolant sensor to no avail. Went to shark Performance for a turbo issue and while there they did the Software update which cured the problem.
  2. Two goldfish in a tank. First Goldfish says to the other "Do you know how to drive this " ?

    Comb over ? lol
  4. My worst was socks. First time ever I've been bought socks for crimbo ! Best, my son's bought me a ticket for the Le Mans 24 hour. Ok he's bought himself one to, but I was made up !!
  5. Hi. I don't want to put the "mokkers" on this, but a few weeks ago I posted on here about my 105bhp Octavia having loads of power but poor economy. I've had it on 2 rolling roads getting figures of 116bhp and122bhp. I was told that it hadn't been mapped but that the Variable Vanes on the turbo were stuck open and the ECU was compensating by putting more fuel into the engine to compensate. Hence I was getting more power but poor fuel economy. I have since had a reconditioned Turbo fitted. This has considerably improved the fuel economy and the car feels a lot smoother to drive. It does still feel it has more than 105 bhp though when comparing it to my sons' 105 bhp Golf.
  6. Perhaps he means the pumps been connected to a separate power supply and it runs. But doesn't run on the car.
  7. Hi, my Octavia (05plate) is fitted with a Sports Suspension set up and 17" wheels from the factory. I'm sure they are ET56. Oh just seen you've a VRS, maybe bigger diameter brakes ?
  8. Full marks for Motors in Motion here !
  9. My last check, full tank to full tank gave me 34 mpg.
  10. Hi, yeah, I'd sooner get things looked at by people who know what they're doing rather than trying this that and the other.
  11. I suppose you're right.......... in theory. I've had the car since March, how long before that the turbos' been stuck is anyone's guess. Could it be beyond redemption ?
  12. Hi. Further to my initial post. I had the car at Shark Performance on Wednesday and after reading the ECU they say the car hasn't been mapped. What they say is the Variable vanes on the Turbo are stuck open so this is allowing extra air in and the ECU is compensating by putting in more fuel. Hence the extra horsepower and poor economy I'm getting. So they can either send the Turbo away for cleaning or fit me a Recon unit. Neither options are cheap ! Are any of the "Turbo cleaners" worth a try or am I just throwing more money away ? I don't really fancy the Mr Muscle route, it sounds a bit iffy to me.
  13. I had the Hot Start issue on my 1.9 tdi Octavia. I've had a "Software" update at Shark Performance and touch wood it's cured it !
  14. Hi. Yes I've seen this offer in their Ad. As I say I'm not really bothered about going that route. My "Boy Racer" days are long gone !
  15. Hi Daniel, yeah that's what I've found on the "net". That's why I'm having it removed. Just wondered what options I had. Thanks
  16. Hi, thanks for replies. Tyre pressures ok, don't know about alignment but there's no "sawtoothing" on the tyres. Air and fuel filters recently replaced, brakes aren't binding. Tyres are cheapies, can't remember make. They were on when I got the car and are ready for replacing. No idea who did the map, it was already done. Thought it was quick for a 105 bhp ! Got it booked in at Shark performance for them to look at. Just wanting some info so I can go armed with suggestions for what I want. Not really bothered about going to 140 bhp as per their map. Kev
  17. Hi, I have a 2005 1.9 pdi. Octavia. The car has been mapped to around 122 bhp but suffers from poor mpg. I'm thinking about having the map removed and put back to standard 105 bhp. Could the poor mpg be down to bad map and would removal definitely give me back the better mpg ? Or could the map be modified to give me better economy and keep the extra oomph ! Am I totally wrong with my interpretation of this ? Thanks, Kev.
  18. Hi, i've not used Motorspares UK Rotherham but i do know they're a well established yard in the area (Bolton on Dearne). Have you tried Motors in Motion, Worksop. 01909 531537 or Motor Hog they have yards around the country. (Google them) I have used both and haven't had any problems. Unfortunately buying a used engine is going to have it's risks. Kev
  19. I understand this is a common fault and just wondered how / if anyone had repaired the door card as replacements from Skoda are extortionately priced and trying to find one in a Breakers yard is nigh on impossible. Thanks, Kev
  20. I've found the staff at my local Maplins to be really helpful. Perhaps if you took the faulty switch in you may be able to match it up. Any numbers on it ?
