  1. Thanks for all the feedback and reassuring words. Talked to one of my neighbors, he works at a garage close by. If I got the car down to his shop on Monday he would help me drain it. Crossing fingers everything will work out well. I have no idea to be honest. It fit right in there. This incident will definitely leave me paranoid. My mind were a different place when I was filling. Didn't check the nozzle, didn't think about what pump I parked at. Just a cluster of mistakes.. This will never happen again, knock on wood..
  2. On my way home now I managed to do the unthinkable, I topped off the tank with diesel. Had about 40 liters of petrol in it and topped it with 16 liters of diesel. Drove almost 10 miles from the station to my house. It just hit me right before I parked, checked the receipt and what do you know, it says diesel. After some reading it seems that petrol in a diesel car is really bad, but diesel in a petrol car is not as bad, and if I'm lucky I only have to change a few things after draining it. The car is an Octavia II 1.6 MPi 2007 (55L tank). My questions, how easy is it to do the repairs myself? And what do I need if I try to do it. What do I need to do after I drain the tank? Replace the gas filter, clean the spark plugs and add some gas cleaner additive? Is there a slight chance that the car is undamaged after the 10 miles of driving? And yes, if you only want to make a funny remark about my situation I welcome it. Can't believe how stupid I am...
  3. Oh, sweet. Thanks man! Appreciate the help. I've been using my multimeter to find out if I need the resistor or not. Also got some training in taking apart the inside of the door. But if I can solve it with the CCM id rather do that, then having to struggle more with the set I bought.
  4. Thanks for the tip. Is it easy to change and what pricerange are we talking here?
  5. Thanks for the input, both of you! :] Will give it a shot tomorrow. No plans and plenty of time.
  6. So I've bought a remote locking system off of ebay.. Its an octopus YK51 that should work with the Octavia. The wire diagram in the package just gives a rough estimate of how things should be connected so I've been searching around for different guides. Here is an overview of the YK51: I've been looking at jonboyuk's guide - guide2 and gyromain's guide, but I'm still not sure if I feel comfortable with the job I have ahead of me. Anyone know where I can find a wire diagram for the Octavia? I've been downloading different car manuals from the sticky, but they don't seem to have a wire diagram in them. What I'm also wondering is if my car has the type 2 negative or type 6 positive locking system. And my last question. Would it be possible to use the buttons in the mid-console? Parallel-connect trough them? Any help would be appreciated
  7. Anyone still around in this thread? I'm gonna install a keyless locking system in my Octavia. I think I got enough information to be able to successfully do this, but I was wondering about one thing. In the mid console I have two buttons for locking and opening. Is it possible to parallel-connect the keyless system to the buttons.
  8. 40%, lucky I got 4 right, as I had to guess on all 10 questions. Looks like I need to read up on some history.
  9. Hi everyone, I landed on an Octavia 1.6 MPi 2007. I've had it for 2 weeks now, and so far it has been a dream compared to my old car. I've been googling around for different solutions to some of the modifications and things I want to do with the car, and every time Briskoda has been one of the top results. So I figured this is the place to be! Understand there has been some server issues and the admins have been hard at work fixing the problem. Just wanted to give a big shout out for all the good work they have put down! Looking forward to getting to know the forum and its people.
