  1. Just wondered if anyone round here have taken their cars to have a Remap or improved the Performance them selfs by adding a chip or something! Just looking to improve the ability of 2nd and 3rd gear as car takes about 2,5k rpm to move a bit quicker! If anyone knows the costs and also if is worth it please share your opinion! Again my car is 1.4 mpi so I don't exactly know if doing this will make a difference! Thanks
  2. Hi there guys! Got a weird question as I don't even know if I'm expressing myself right! I've read enough to understand fabia mpi's are sluggish but my concern is that every time I stop for petrol and open the fuel cap and then close and get the car started seems to act a lot better..and I mean I get more power at lower revs, it changes through gears smoother and I don't seem to feel like something along needs tightening ! Don't know how else to put this but can anyone tell me what is going on? Made a habbit before I start the car to open the filler cap first! I checked to see if is blocked but looks alright to me! Thanks any advice would be much appreciated.
  3. Hi! Thanks for the reply! My car was a bit of bidding if to take it or not! Obvious eBay! Had paid decent money for it and had full service and all the brakes changed! The condition of the car is good with no rusts at all but odd chips and scratches everywhere! If I consider selling the car how much you think this will worth! I have changed the headlamps with newer hella made ones to make it look better! I've recently seen one for sale at 1000 pounds with 125k on the clock! Cheers
  4. I replaced mine with the above one for 6 quids! Cost me more to top up the gear oil as I wasn't prepared for the flood I got
  5. But I will consider these too: http://bit.ly/1n36pEK http://bit.ly/1gMsZk0 They work as good as the original ones but a lot cheaper! You also get 1 or 2 years warranty so anything breaks you covered! Plus with the money you save can get the car to a vag-com and have a diagnostic read for that Epc light! Good luck

  8. I've had the above 2 problems myself recently and all been sorted cheap and easy! About Epc light can't say anything as mine always come up when put the ignition key on but goes soon as the car starts! I've replaced the thermostat housing with the temp sensor together as they come as a pack! Quite cheap of eBay! ~£25 .. You will lose some antifreeze as you take the pipes out to replace the thermostat! Very easy to do if you have the right tools! I took mine to the garage because the reverse light switch was broked and had them both operations done in less than half an hour and for £30 ! When you fit the new reverse light switch be prepared to have a bowl under the car as it takes some time till you pop the new switch in and you will have a considerable amount of gearoil coming out which makes it even more difficult! To save the oil and then put it back on ! Everything works great! Costs less than 100 quid to get them sorted! Cheers

  10. I've bought my 1.4 mpi with 55723 miles on the ckock! It's a 2001 reg and both previous owners were women's! Should I get concerned about mileage not being right? The mot certificates adds up to the mileage of the car however from the last mot the car was driven about 500 miles! When I plugged vcds it gave me the mileage on the clock ! Should that mean the vcds gave me the right mileage even if the car has been clocked up!? Thanks!
  11. Finding to have a similar problem! Did you had it sorted?
  12. Hi mate! I know ITS been 3 years since! You've probably got sick of the car and got rid of it! I'm thinking I have the same problem ! Changed the air flow sensor and cleaned the throttle body as well! The car still seems to be having similar problems as before! Someone said that might need adjusting/setting the 2 together as I'm getting about 25 mpg at the moment!
  13. Hi guys . Decided to book the car in the garage for Monday...the problems I'm getting is with the map sensor ,and a hell of a low mileage per tank! Can anyone recommend me what else should do while the car is there to avoid making regular trips to the garage! I would mention that the car has only got 56k miles and recent service has been carried out!.thanks
  14. Thanks for the reply! I kind of looked everywhere until decided to sign in and ask myself! From other posts I read that the Simpsons might be related to the clutch system as well ! I have ordered a new part off eBay and hopefully it will sort it out! Also what it happens if you got like half a litre of gearbox oil leaking out when I tried to change the reverse switch myself! I do have the oil to top up but need to use the car tonight and I'm just worried it may brake! Currently in work and can't get out there to fix it
  15. Hello guys ! Thanks admin for allowing me on this site! Would like to say that I'm proud to own a skoda fabia 1.4mpi which I bought as a first car after recently passing the test! As a new driver I know absolute anything about mechanics but to spare some more quids for insurance I'm reading through articles and try to do ( where possible ) things myself .. I do have an issue with the mileage you get off a full tank (45litres) as I averaged about 270 miles , and there is a problem with the engine(or parts of it) as the yellow light came on board! I had a code read and was P0101 which states that is mass or volume air flow circuit performance ...zzz.. My mechanic said that is the map sensor that needs replacing! The car acts as I put petrol of a dodgy station and sometimes it stalls or lose power ! It happens to be in traffic with the pedal down to bottom and not get the revs above 2500rpm .. Can anyone clue me up before I book it in with the Mecanic?? Any advice would be much apreciated
