SKODA Octavia, the stunning Laurin & Klement (L&K), now for order.

I've had a good look at the new "F" type & the build quality is excellent, it's rumoured that they will introduce a 3ltr bi-turbo auto diesel in the hardtop version for those who are more concerned about consumption then performance. Also the new Modeo 1ltr petrol engine looks like a step change in technology/performance/consumption/emmisions. -
Do I actually NEED an aircon service?!
IdioSyncrasy replied to blackspaven's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I've just had my 2011 Octavia re-gassed after using for the first time this year, the local mobile aircon agent said that it's common practice for the manufactures to just put enough gas in the system to get the vehicle through to the end of the warranty period. He recons that now he's fully charged it it should last for years. Cost £45.00 cash & done at my home address. -

It's believed that all these top spec middle sized vehicles are in for a hiding when the new Jaguar XE comes into production, then there will be a serious price war to shift the metal. -
Cam Belt Change Interval Bulletin
IdioSyncrasy replied to Darrenm72's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I queried this with Skoda UK some time ago, they stated that it is due to different weather conditions,IE: Spain is normally hot & the UK has plenty of cold & rock salt to contend with. -
Cam Belt Change Interval Bulletin
IdioSyncrasy replied to Darrenm72's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Just had confirmation from Beadle's Maidstone that the cambelt change time for my 2ltr TD DSG has changed to 5 years or 100K. -
Thanks, I was looking to replace the side/stop/tail/indicator/numberplate/DLR but if as you say it will cause a problem I'll give it a miss. Regards Idio

Sorry if this has been asked before, I have a 2011 Octavia L&K & it's now out of warranty so I'm wondering if there's a kit of LED lamps to replace all my bulbs as I think the LED's might look better. Any help/information would be appreciated.

18k miles a year is a lot of gear changes, I find the DSG with the sports mode ideal as you can use it as a semi auto when you feel the need to go manual, personally once I'd got over the novelty I now only use the auto mode. My 2ltr 140 will return at 70mph 50+mpg on motorways/duel carriageways providing you don't hammer the exceleration/turbo.
-
There's rumours that they're going to bring out a new edition to the range as a 3ltr Bi-turbo TD auto to attract the more senior customers who want better MPG & aren't to interested in high performance.

Does the rear/boot look slightly different on the silver one to the green one?
-
Where are these display models, are there any in the UK for the general public to view?
-
It would be handy if it comes to fruition that you could connect it to your own domestic gas supply via a compressor to fill it up, I can't see that it would be that difficult to install.

Sorry to start another tyre noise thread...
IdioSyncrasy replied to punchybda's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
My Octavia has only done 17k & it's just had it's first MOT, the Skoda dealership swopped the wheels round as a matter of course without being asked, they told me they had also done this when it had it's first service at 2 years & would do it now at every MOT unless asked not to, I thought this was a good idea by them & good customer care. -
My dealership says it will be a goer but Skoda haven't decided what floor pan to use Superb or Octavia for overall vehicle size as both are due for a replacement model, the Superb is an excellent vehicle but it hasn't been that good in the sales numbers game. Or perhaps they'll just dump one in favour of the other.

Octavia vRS Question!
IdioSyncrasy replied to IdioSyncrasy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Sorry to appear thick but I'm sure the one I was offered had the individual build number stitched into the front seat headrests & the seats were a Recaro type, is this the same on the "LE"vRS model? I'm about to start travelling between Kent & Dordogneshire again & would be interested in a diesel/DSG estate for the journey..
