  1. Hi Paulius, I have just managed to do it with the help from your description. The owners manual diagram makes it look like you needed to twist the bulb but pop in the top and the bottom will ping in with a push. The LHS Bulb was harder, there was less room. Thanks again
  2. I have been searching for a guide with images on how to change the dipped H7 bulb on my 2014 Mk 3 Octavia. I have disconnected the socket for the current bulb but I can't see how to remove the bulb. I assume it has a locking collar that retains the bulb. I can be a little energetic at times and do not want to break something. Has anyone been through this and done the 'How To'?
  3. I can endorse the Nankang NS2's as I had them on my Fiat Punto (205/45/17). Good mileage and great dry grip. In the wet they weren't as good as the Bridgestones but were progressive and never surprised me. If you can get membership (or know a member) to Costco, they do the Michelin Primacy HP (225/45/17 - OEM on my car) for £99 fitted.
  4. I can say that the general quality of the sound is improved over the standard bolero system and if you crank up the sub it can give you a headache very quickly. Maybe my 8 year old son has a sub woofer 'cos he can do the same!!
  5. Unfortunately there is no way to turn off the noise cancellation so there is now way to compare. I had a test drive in a 2.0 Tdi hatch and didn't notice higher levels of cabin noise even though it was running on higher profile lower diameter wheels (which should have been quieter that my 17's).
  6. I must admit that the cabin noise is higher than I would have expected from a vehicle with noise cancellation. Maybe a trip to see someone with VCDS may provide more information.
  7. I have just taken delivery of my Octavia with Amundsen and Canton but I am a little surprised at the lack of setup features for the Canton Sound System. The only real items I can see and change are the sub woofer level, the equaliser 'type' of voice or music and the sound focus (driver, centre or off). Has something not been turned on/configured correctly as I was expecting a multiband equaliser at the very least. Thanks Ben
  8. My dealer is on leave but came in today to make sure the job card was setup for my car and to organise my loan car. I can recommend them so far in the sales process. I will let you know for after sales and service. Griffin Mill Skoda, Treforest trading estate, Llantrisant.
  9. Car delivered to dealers on Friday pm. Picking it up Wednesday pm. Got a Fabia scout for a couple of days.
  10. Took a 2.0tdi for a 60 mile test drive to run my route to and from work. Did it in the same 8 am to 9 am time slot I normally do and I got 54.6 from a manual in Eco mode. Stuck to the limit without much hard acceleration. I work in the welsh valleys and there are a lot of roundabouts and hills to climb. I recon I could have got 60 on a flat run on a motorway. The car had only done 2.5k miles so it could loosen up a bit. The car didn't have cruise either so it was my right foot keeping the speed constant. I tried a 1.6 tidy but found that it lacked the power when you really needed it.
  11. I sold my 71 beetle and 'grew up' by buying a 1982 Ford Cortina Ghia auto in 1987. Ford didn't make very good engines in those days but I did a lot of my courting in it ( with my wife to be).
  12. My first car deserves a mention; 1973 Datsun 1200 deluxe coupe. Body work was more iron oxide than steel but it was my first (so was Tina). Best car: 2007 Fiat Grande Punto (just sold it to get the Octy), so cheap to buy but never failed in 103 k miles. Favourite car: 1969 Rover P6 mach 1 V8. Just classically designed, built ( and comprehensively re welded)! Most fun car: 2005 Alfa Romeo 156 sport wagon. Handling and speed with the best looks ever. Worst car (by far): 1983 Ford Escort 1300 GL. Un reliable, rotted exhausts like nobody's business. Didn't stop. Didn't start well. couldn't cruise at more that 70 without stuttering and pig ugly. Notable mention to my 1971 VW Beetle 1302s with the long bonnet ( very rare). Cried when I had to sell it and another mention to the 2001 Fiat Punto 1.2 sporting. Not much power but handled like a go kart.
  13. In the 70's it would have been a Trabant by another name! The shared platform method isn't new but Skoda have certainly set themselves apart from the group. I am glad it's not turned out like the Triumph/Datsun debacle of the 70's/80's era. Something's shouldn't be shared!
  14. The perception of Skoda as a brand has changed so much over the recent years. As a teen anger they were laughable rear engined air cooled budget cars. I chose the Skoda because it ticked most of the technical and personal requirements. The reasonable looks are a bonus.
  15. Now there is no reason to bring reason and good arguments to this discussion. No band has ever exceeded the musical quality of Trio and Kajagoogoo. Just called the dealer and my car is I. Their yard ready to be prepped. Will take pictures tomorrow of it wrapped in white transport plastic.very excited middle aged man now:)
