  1. Yes you could well be right, im beginning to think it may be more to do with the key/ignition/instrument cluster/ECU - as per this thread and moisture problem as the car did not strart right after going through the auto car wash and then it has been intermittent...just wish I knew which way to approach it. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/101275-fabia-immobiliser-skoda-cant-even-fix-it/ I had this problem last year then again this year when it became permanent. It seemed to happen frequently on very hot days. Well after waisting money like everyone else having wiring checked and the ignition barrel replaced, I decided to send my Instrument Cluster/Panel (which is very easy to remove yourself) off for testing . Turns out the main motherboard PCB had moisture damage and a refurbishment was required. They did have the same model in stock for £137, but since I had sent mine off already and would have to pay for the diagnostic anyway I decided to get it repaired which cost me £200. I have not received it back yet, should be in the next week, but will post here when I do. Heres hoping this sloves the problem. For anyone wondering, I sent it off to the following people: http://autotekelectronics.com/autotek/ Updated 06/09/12: Well I got the instrument panel back and have been using the car for a week now with no problems at all, looks like it is fixed for now.
  2. Hi Wino - sorry i think there are 2 fan positions, the first at 88 degrees? - I was thinking that the first position was not working....but seems like its ok now. This turns out not to be th eproblem as I have now experienced many more since.....see this thread. Any help much appreciated...... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/372678-p1570-p1172-p1544-p1156-fault-codes/
  3. Hi all, Once again no idea whats going on with my Fabia 2003 1.4 MPi 8v. codes P1570 - ECU Dosabled - component disabled P1172 - Throttle valve position sensor 2 - signal too low P1544 Throttle valve position sensor 3 P1156 Intake manifold pressure sensor Heres what I ve done before getting AA out to read and clear above codes - All because I went through a car wash and it started cutting out intermittently about 2 weeks ago - going completely mad ! 1a.Replaced crank sensor 1b. Took off throttle body and cleaned it and put it back - did not do TBA 2. Unhooked ECU - No idea why i did this 3. Unhooked battery - No idea why i did this other than to reset ECU 4. Unhooked both sensors near to throttle body to clean? 5. Tried to replace fuel pump with full tank of petrol and almost passed out with th fumes - puty back origfinal fuel pump - stilll hope i put it back ok - then called out AA Car started after AA erased codes but went back to very bad idle and then cutting out eventually and then not starting at all..... now back to its usual intermittent starting nonsense. Im at my utter wits end with this......does anyone have any answers ? I need a miracle or a scrap car dealer...............(((( Thanks in advance.
  4. Called AA out tonight and traced problem to the crank shaft sensor - wiggled it about a bit ! apparently also a common fault on Renault clio the fan worked also albeit at 91 degrees but all solved I hope when I get a new crank shaft sensor in the morning....
  5. Thanks for responses Toxicvrs - Im unfamiliar with vcds process and what it will tell me? more info would be great! sepulchrave - i replaced the coil pack and spark plugs a year ago, if it is this then what should be done ? many thanks in advance.
  6. Dear All First post - have read a few threads over last few months but perplexed enough about my latest problems to join up and ask the pro's..! I have the 1.4 mpi 8v petrol 2003 fabia. a year ago i had some problems that i traced to the thermostatic sensor, replaced it and all good for about a year. - Have read many threads on here about this item. However, recently I went through an automated car wash and couldnt start the car afterwards - had to push it down the road and waited half hour for it to dry out before it would start. It was ok for about a day until it suddenly started to cut out intermittently whilst driving. Noticed that the fan has also stopped coming on - not sure how its related though. So I checked the fan was working by short circuit and it was ok so then replaced the switch/sensor in the rad as thats what the 'Haynes' manual said would be the problem. Fan still not coming on...?? anyway the car is not running right at all and worried that it could just cut out again. at the moment i cannot seem to replicate the fault but find it strange that the temp dial does not go off the scale..i.e engine overheating issue....as the fan is not coming on when stationery. The temp dial only ever gets up to half way....however, it was cutting out whilst idling when it first occured a couple weeks ago. - needless to say havnt driven it for a while and cant work out whats going on..! and desperate to avoid garages as can do most work myself.....even bought a VAG diagnostics tool - no codes....(..?? Any ideas peoples? Much appreciated Adam

  8. sickozero - when you say 'when it cuts out you have a problem' - Do you mean a problem with the timing chain? and therefore it needs changing or are you referring to another problem? Mine has started to cut out....
