  1. I have had my Spaceback for 2 1/2 years and done nearly 41,000 miles. It has been trouble free apart from the doors filling with water. The seals have now been modified (butchered). I did find the seats a bit uncomfortable on a long journey but with time they have softened a bit. I drive with a light foot so can achieve an 'indicated' 59mpg on a long journey. Having done brim to brim tests my display reads about 2mpg high. Overall, happy, but would like something with seats a bit higher. I am 6 months away from the end of my finance deal so am now looking around. I suspect there will not be much value to put towards the next car.
  2. If it is solvent resistant how is it going to be 'removed', and will the removal actually cause damage? I suspect it will be left in place.
  3. I have just clocked up 29,000 miles. My fronts had reached 3mm and the rears were 4mm so I decided to give my car, and my ears, an early Christmas present. I didn't need to change the rears but decided to anyway. I now have Goodyear Efficient Grip on all 4 corners. First impression is that they are certainly quieter than the Dunlops. Hopefully I shouldn't need to change them again before my PCP is up. I will have done about 51,000 miles by then. Pat
  4. Yes, I too viewed it as a loan of the depreciation. When it is at 0% I think it works.
  5. We might think the Spaceback is a bit low rent, but I took someone to hospital in mine and he thought he was in a BMW....
  6. I have had a Spaceback for 5 months and am, generally, very happy with it. The plus points for me are that it has a very good boot, albeit a bit smaller than the Rapid Liftback, whilst giving good room for passengers in the back. It also fits in a standard 7-foot garage without having to close the wing mirrors. I have the 1.2 TSI (86) engine which seems to work well and the fuel consumption figures are in the range 48 - 56. I have done 8000 miles so far and the consumption has improved nicely. On a long run of 100 miles recently I came close to the 60 figure. I have to drop a gear on steeper hills or long inclines but don't find it a problem. For me the only negative points are seat comfort, I find I am fidgeting after 20 miles or so, and the dark interior. I previously had a Fabia with the two-tone light grey interior which I liked and the seats were more comfortable. The car looks smart in the red. I would suggest you borrow the car for a day and see if the seats are a problem for you.
  7. My Spaceback 1.2 TSI (86) SE bought in April has discs at the back.
  8. I have had my Spaceback, it is the 1.2 TSI (86), for a month and am averaging about 48.5 on town and A-roads. Haven't had a chance to go on the motorway yet.
  9. Yes, you are quite correct Ronnie, Skoda UK thought it would be a good wheeze to exclude the corner dividers so that they could sell the boot netting as an extra.... Unfortunately for me I frequently have to carry folding wheelchairs and zimmer frames which would get tangled up in the nets. I will make my own! Pat
  10. Mmmm I know what you mean. My Mark 1 Fabia had it but my Mark 2 didn't. My Spaceback does not have it and I know of no way to adjust it, but then I haven't looked in the book to see. I suspect it is a cost-cutting design removal, along with the boot corner dividers. Pat
  11. Welcome to the forum. I have had 2 Fabias and had very little trouble, but the forum members are here to help.
  12. Yes, I think it is the slight movement of the steering wheel as you are getting out of the car that is locking the steering. If it isn't then I think you do have a fault. Pat
  13. Well it looks like I will be doing a Blue Peter job and making some dividers to fit...Where is that sticky-backed plastic? The lack of 'curry hooks' was also an irritation having had them in my previous Fabia and found them useful. Pat
  14. I have a Spaceback SE and it does have the sun glasses holder. What is missing from mine, which I find a bit irritating, are the vertical dividers for the rear corners of the boot. I had them on my Fabia and used to keep spare oil etc in the pockets that the dividers created. Does anyone have them? Pat
  15. Yes, it works. Sanity restored..for the moment! Many thanks
  16. Thanks everyone. Will try lowering the volume via the ringtone. Now I have the creaking seat belt slider....
  17. Hi all, After two Fabias I now have a Spaceback. Very pleased apart from one thing.. The dealer 'paired' my phone and ever since I get an infuriating loud Bing Bong after turning on the engine. This appears to be the car doing an electronic 'handshake' with my phone. I've not yet found anything in the manual to tell me how to turn off this feature, or to reduce the volume. Am I stuck with it, as with the frost warning, or does anyone know if there a way to kill it. I realise that I can avoid it by not having the phone switched on.... Pat
  18. Hello everyone. I have been reading the forums for some time so thought I would now register. These things mustn't be hurried..... I have had two Fabias, one petrol and one diesel. I have just bought a Rapid Spaceback 1.2 TSI SE which I am pleased with. It seems to absorb the bumps better!
