  1. I spilled just under 5 litres of engine oil in my boot and attempts to clean are proving more effort that it seems worth. I've stripped the carpet out and the oil has soaked into the chipboard liner. I think I'm better off just looking for a replacement in the scrappies. Which leads me on to my question..... Are the boot carpets in the mk1 and mk 2 interchangeable. Plenty of Mk1s breaking but not so many Mk2s.
  2. Not had chance to update this since I had the car back a few weeks back. In the end I paid £1095. I've had pretty much a new top end, new head, cams etc, new chains and tensioner. Skoda contributed 70% so the the total cost would have been around £3650. Car is driving well and I'm happy with the outcome and the support from Sinclair Swansea.
  3. Update. After a bit of chatting back and forth I've accepted a goodwill contribution of 70% towards the repair. I'm happy with this outcome and will be glad to get the car back. Props to Sinclair Skoda in Swansea as ever

  5. If its the same as the bolero then the changer is integrated. You just load each of the discs through the front loader when requested by the unit.
  6. Skoda UK have requested photographs of the damaged parts from the dealer.
  7. I listen to TalkSport on my Bolero. I notice I get better reception on 1053 when around North Wales, might be worth a go.
  8. 2 Skodas from new. Both with a full and extensive service history. 1st Car - a Skoda Fabia vRS. Immaculately kept. I've actually found it for sale at the moment! Turbo failed not long out of warranty despite having 38000 miles on the clock. I paid the labour, Skoda paid the parts. It was this experience that led me to trade in for a new Octavia vRS. My confidence is rocked to be honest and the Skoda nay sayers around me are quietly smirking to themselves!
  9. Wayne, don't know if you got my PM but the campaign is 15D7 as shown in the above link Skoda UK have offered me 40% discount. Which includes 10% for brand loyalty. I've mentioned the campaign and they are checking. When I originally queried this with the dealer they said I wasn't affected despite being a 2009 production vehicle with engine code CCZA. Very disappointed that this part has failed somewhat prematurely on a vehicle with an extensive dealer service history.
  10. Seems there was a recall on the camshaft bearing...
  11. The part in question was a saddle release bearing. This is the second skoda in a row ive owned from new. My fabia vrs turbo went outside of warranty but with FSSH and Skoda paid for the parts. I then traded for this which also has a FSSH. I think my brand loyalty is evident and my local dealer (sinclair skoda) is fantastic. It would be gutting to sever ties but im going to have to think long and hard about next steps.
  12. News from the dealer. Its not the tensioner. The cams have been starved of oil (wish I could remember the name of the part mentioned, maybe a loader? So I need 2 new cams and various other top end bits . Total cost around 1600 including a goodwill payment of 20% from Skoda.

  14. Had a similar noise when the battery was low.
  15. It broke down where the Yaris is in this google map link https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Ynysforgan,+Roundabout+(SW-bound),+Ynysforgan&hl=en&ll=51.67813,-3.912013&spn=0.007864,0.021136&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=7.846845,21.643066&oq=ynysyforgan&t=h&hnear=Ynysforgan,+Roundabout+(SW-bound)&z=16&layer=c&cbll=51.678003,-3.912074&panoid=xHQKXm3nBsxHhvDRGW6lsQ&cbp=12,211.29,,0,6.13 It was rush hour and pretty dangerous so I had to abandon the car and stand behind the barrier leaving the hazards on. I can't begin to describe the amount of near misses with cars swapping lanes at the last minute. So glad noone went into it for their sake more than mine!
  16. Thanks guys. Date of first registration is the 10th of December 2009. Denis, our son is a girl! She will be amused by this To be honest in the grand scheme of life the car is just a minor hiccup, am hoping its sorted without too much trouble. The wife is also 28 weeks pregnant and having suffered 5 miscarriages we are on tender hooks (is that how you say it?). So as you can imagine, with everything else going on we just shrug our shoulders when this kind of thing happens and get on with it. I've managed to borrow a car from the family for the duration the Octavia is in so we are in great position. Lets just hope the same can be said of my credit card in a few weeks time.... Will keep you posted. ETA : Details in pinned topic are correct
  17. Its a 59 plate. With SInclair Skoda now who are pretty awesome with this kind of thing. Will update as and when.
  18. Just dug out my paperwork. Last service and full check done at 58000 miles. Its due to be booked in in the next week or so anyway. Both my wife and I need cars, our youngest has a brain tumour which causes massive complications. We are basically both on emergency call out. Am hoping to borrow a car from family until this is sorted..
  19. Hope so. I had it looked at last year as there was pronounced rattle from the engine about 2.8k but nothing was noted as a problem. Wondering if the noise was coming from the chain,
  20. Out of warranty. 67k. Full Dealer Service History. Heres hoping...
  21. Tensioner failed, top end not turning. Anyone who knows this roundabout at rush hour will know what an interesting experience being stuck here was. I'm wating for Sinclair Skoda to call back to see what can be done.
  22. I'll join the club. 59 plate vRS 67k FDSH Went yesterday at idle on a busy 4 lane roundabout which was fun! Had it looked at by my local garage who have recommended I contact Skoda. Waiting for call back from my main dealer.
