  1. Thank you very much for the help. I'll try and have a look at this when I've got some free time. Much appreciated.
  2. I've thought about that, but surely if i grouped them into sub folders it would only play from that one specific sub folder?
  3. There is no structure, I've literally just got all the songs in the one folder. I think it was much the same in the mk2.
  4. Hi all, I've been using an 8gb SD card (not full) for a number of years now having first used it in my old mk2. On a recent long trip,my partner and I have both realised how crap the shuffle function is in that it doesn't seem to go through all of the songs and ends up repeating songs whilst some others hardly get a look in! My question, is this a known problem and would I be better off just using a usb instead? I'm not sure what stereo it is but it does have a satnav if that helps?
  5. Hi all,I've fitted some roof bars to my Octavia 3 hatch but I'm not sure which hole to use. The instructions seemed to show using both inner holes but when I did this, the rear bar seemed to fit higher than the front. I since moved the rear bar to the outside hole and it seems to sit more level, unfortunately I haven't got a spirit level to check but I'm now worried that I've done this wrong. Can anyone advise? For the record I'm using Cruz optiplus square bars. Thanks in advance!
  6. Sorry to get on this thread so late but I just fitted some Cruz bars on my Octavia 3 hatch and wasn't sure which hole to fit the bars to. I tried fitting to the two inner holes but it looked like the rear was sat higher than the front so I left the front bar on the inner hole and moved the rear to the outer hole. Is this done right?
  7. I have a mk3 Octavia hatchback with electric sunroof and am considering adding roof bars and box for my next camping trip. My question is, am I able to fit the bars? it has the fixing points in the door area (I think that's the technical term)but I'm suddenly getting concerned about it sitting on glass next to the actual roof - SWMBO says I'm panicking over nothing. Also, is there a maximum length I can have so that it doesn't interfere with opening of rear boot hatch? I might add a rear bike carrier (over the hatch) at some point also. Thanks in advance.
  8. I bought it Saturday, though not from a main dealer.
  9. Update- this morning after my 12 mile (25 minute) journey to work, the start stop did briefly kick in for all of 3 seconds before restarting itself when I stopped at traffic lights. Definitely failing battery me thinks. I did briefly speak to dealer a few days ago and he said he thinks battery is fine but wasn't very helpful and that it wouldn't be covered with the RAC warranty but mentioned about being possibly contributing.
  10. I only thought Halfrauds for the battery check because its it's free- their impartiality hadn't even occurred to me at the time! Whether or not I'm using a fresh battery I'm not too sure, but the car has only 25,000 odd miles which for a '65 car is very little so if it is original, it could very well be on its way out. Can I ask, What exactly do you mean by a smart charger?
  11. Hi all, I've just bought myself a '65 plate Octavia SE-L with start stop but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working. The messages I see are, -Power consumption is high and sllometimes, -Engine needs to be running. I've booked in for battery check at the local Halfrauds and I've tried to reset factory data on bolero head unit - Anything else I can try?
  12. The over optimistic mpg reader, is this something which can be fixed via vcds?
  13. Thank you guys, that is exactly what I wanted. How optimistic is the read out then?
  14. So should I assume that the first one is my overall mpg reading on that trip and the second one is an accumulated mpg from multiple trips?
  15. Hi guys, I have a 1.4 tsi Octavia mk2 and when I reset the overall mpg readings (1 and 2) I seem to get two different readings from them. For example on my way to work today mpg reading 1 was reading 61mpg and mpg reading 2 was reading 54mpg. Can someone explain this to me please. Also, I've heard the readings can be a little optimistic, but how much? I'm a very keen eco-driver.
  16. Im not trying to defend anyone here but what difference does it make where the man works, at the end of the day it's an honest job. In my opinion there is far too much emphasis placed on what somebody does for a living, as if it defines who they are as a person. At the end of the day a job's a job. Anyways, not all of it is second hat tat. If you look around you can sometimes pick up some really good stuff at a fraction of the price. My cousin once picked up what can only be described as a barely used Armani suit for like £50, had it dry cleaned for like £20 and it's really nice, its almost brand new! Just a few years ago I picked up the whole collection of the Time life series on the Third Reich, all 21 books for £10! and the condition of them is excellent, they had clearly never been read or even looked at I don't think.
  17. I actually used to volunteer in a charity shop a number of years ago now, in fact come to think of it, it must've been around ten years ago now! Some of the donations we received used to blow my mind! I once had the horror of unwrapping a bag of what appeared to be some sort of freaky BDSM clothing and for lack of a better word, toys... most of it appeared to be well used! Now imagine how awkward it was explaining to my manager (who was probably in her mid-40's at the time) why I don't think we can sell this and yet still maintain some level of decorum, in the end I just had to show her. Bare in mind I was only about 18/19 at the time! And yeah, we also had a few cases of theft and attempted theft, one involved some little 14 year old yobbo trying to give the old lady at the till a fake £20 note. He ended up dropping the stuff he'd planned on "buying" when he saw me come out from the back room when she rung for assistance, and running off. Now imagine me chasing the boy down the road and my manager chasing me, and no I didn't have a plan of what to do for if I'd caught him. Having said that, it was the nicest place I've ever worked and I always really enjoyed it.
  18. Hi guys, I'm new to the dash camera game. I've been looking at the Blackvue dr650 and having it hardwired into the car. Does anyone here have one? and if so, where on the front windscreen have you installed it and how visible is it from the outside? Are you happy with it? Also, is there anyone here not too far from the London area who knows how to install the damn thing and willing to help? I'm willing to pay of course! I would do it myself, but I'm a DIY nightmare, most things I touch end up breaking!
  19. So jealous, I'd love to see one of those in the flesh!
  20. Just saw a '15 plate Aston Martin Vantage parked up one or two roads away from mine... crazy!
  21. Yeah, spotted one about an hour or so ago as I was driving back from my sister's birthday, the owner was just parking up and getting out of his car. I think it was a VW up! It actually caught me by surprise!
  22. Going to have to officially decline, as well as Jiu Jitsu in the afternoon I've got my sisters birthday to go to in the early evening... It's just not possible to squeeze it all in. Thanks for the invite Chris, maybe next time.
  23. Thanks for the invite Chris. I'm not sure if I can make it, I'm afraid. I've got Jiu-Jitsu at 12, and that won't finish till 13:30 at the earliest. Put me down as a maybe. Sorry guys! 1. Chrisgreen 2. Niceyellow vrs and Bird 3. Danny6189 4. Skoda Saint 5. CFB 6. Andy2286 (maybe)
  24. I've been with a number of broadband providers over the years, the best provider I've ever been with was o2. They were absolutely brilliant, very reliable service, free 24/7 UK based helplines with very knowledgeable staff and they even provided McAfee internet security for 3 pc's at no extra charge. Unfortunately, they were bought out by SKY. I would advise against SKY, sure the speed's aren't too bad but the helpline is next to useless and I've found the service to be quite choppy around 2am (not great if you're a night owl like myself)
  25. It's probably just the car releasing all of the crap. I used to have a Vauxhall Astra diesel 1.7cdti 100hp (2006 one the last ones without the dreaded DPF) and it would always release all of the crap when under hard acceleration. It actually once failed it's MOT due to excessive black smoke and halfords tried charging me like £150 or something for some treatment. Before I took it back for a re-test I just left it idling (round the corner from the MOT place) outside revving the crap out of it until it had pretty much all gone and it passed. But anyways, I'm getting off topic here. I'm guessing yours isn't fitted without the dpf and all the car's doing is getting rid of all of the soot that get's built up, It's quite common and I wouldn't worry about it. Am I right to assume your car spends most of it's running around town and doesn't get too much in the way of motorway type runs? That black smoke is the one thing I really miss about my old dirty diesel, I used to love leaving people in a plume of black smoke if they'd been tail gating me. However, I could be very much mistaken so I await further comments.
