  1. I'm getting errors when trying to unzip the latest maps (ECE 2022) after downloading them from the Skoda update portal. This is on a Columbus satnav in a 2018 Karoq Edition. Using WinRAR is fails saying there are corrupt headers. Using WinZIP it successfully unzips the files but warns that there are corrupt headers, When updating my satnav after copying the files to an SD card it gets to about 81% and then says there was an error and reboots the unit. I've tried the download several times and on different machines so I don't think it's my end. I've done all of this several times before and never had a problem. Has anyone else managed to install this update successfully or is the download itself corrupt?
  2. Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the long delay. The dealer told me it did have memory but I wasn't convinced, so I spoke to Skoda UK. At first they said they couldn't confirm whether it did or not (what?), but under a bit more pressure the guy said he'd check with the "Brand Support Team" and get back to me. To give him his due he did do this and about 30 minutes later he confirmed that the Kamiq does not have a memory function on the electric seat. I struggle to see Skoda's thinking behind providing an option like this - who would specify it at nearly £500 if you still have to fiddle about getting the seat in the right position every time you change drivers? Nice though the Kamiq was on a test drive, in my opinion the level of standard equipment on the top of the range SE L model is quite poor. Almost everything seems to be an option, and by the time I'd specced it up to match what we have on our Karoq it was within £1500 of a new Karoq Edition.
  3. I'm in the process of speccing up a Kamiq. Can anyone who has the electric driver's seat option tell me whether it comes with a memory function, so that you can store individual positions? We have this on our current car (Karoq) and it's really useful as we both frequently use the car and have the seat in very different positions. Also, the Karoq automatically adjusts the wing mirrors according to the selected seat position - does the Kamiq have this ? I appreciate that these are really first world problems, and they aren't deal-breakers, but the dealer doesn't seem to be able to tell me (what a surprise) so if anyone here can, that would be great.
  4. I took the car into the local workshop this morning and asked if they'd have a quick look. He gave it a hard tug and it came straight off, followed by a muttered "for f$*k's sake" from myself and feeling really stupid. He just laughed and said "no problem, it's not the first time that's happened". So, it was just me not daring to heave on it hard enough and being worried about damaging the wiper arm. Thank you guys for the helpful comments, and the "a little brute force" comment was spot on - hangs head in shame.
  5. Thanks for all the suggestions, and the photos. As far as I can see, the clip has broken off completely so there shouldn't be anything else holding it in. There is a certain amount of quite free movement (about 3 mm) which wasn't there before the clip broke but then it's as if there's still something solid stopping it coming out any further. Looking at the old driver's side blade I can't see anything else that could be stopping it. I've tried a bit of brute force and even a large flat-blade screwdriver between the blade and the arm where I can now create a small gap, but it appears to still be solidly attached. I'm a bit hesitant to heave on it too much as I need the car later today and it's heaving it down with rain, so I don't want to damage it but still not be able to get it out. I might have another go at it if the rain stops for a bit - it's really annoying me now as something so simple shouldn't be so difficult.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried that this morning but there's nothing left of the clip to press. I've taken a look at the old driver's wiper that I've replaced and I can't see anything else that's stopping it from coming out now that the clip has gone. Much though it pains me, I think I might take it in to our local village garage workshop. They're pretty good and have looked after my previous car for several years once it was out of warranty, often doing little jobs for hardly anything.
  7. Hi all, I've purchased some Bosch wipers based on the recommendations here and have successfully replaced the driver's and rear wipers, and the horrible scraping has gone - hooray! However, I'm unable to get the passenger side wiper blade off. The little clip/button that you depress to release the blade has actually broken off - the wiper moves a couple of mm in and out of the arm but I can't get it to release and slide out. Any suggestions as to what needs pressing/etc seeing as how the clip is no longer there to hold it in place?
  8. Never mind, I've sussed it. Totally different to the guide, I guess because it's a Mk 2. Radio reception is amazing now compared to previously (not that that would be difficult!).
  9. I've just had a go at replacing the aerial base on our Fabia 2 (58 reg), but have chickened out at the first hurdle. The headlining is not as described in the OP, but just has a couple of press studs to hold the rear of it and the rear edge is just tucked under the rubber seal at the back. I've removed the two studs and pulled the headlining out from the rubber seal, and can pull the headlining down enough to access the foam-wrapped connector, but I don't seem to be able to get any further towards the aerial base without bending the headlining and putting a crease into it, as it appears to be held against the roof further forwards. Is there something I've missed, or do I just need to persevere with it?
