  6. I've noticed since I got my new Yeti, that journeys have become shorter, and that I find myself wishing we hadn't got there so quickly! The car really is that enjoyable to drive. Only had it two months so far but it is by far the most fun I've had for years. I've added a Columbus satnav unit, amended the microphone to allow voice control of the Columbus, and yesterday fitted a new external gps/ radio oem shark fin aerial. This has improved the gps reception by at least 50%. Also bought some boreal wood trim for the dash from a Briskoda member ( looks brilliant - makes the dash less distracting and somehow more "integrated"). Fitted f&r mudflaps, and a spare wheel kit. I'm in danger of becoming obsessive!
  7. I have a new FL model and I don't consider myself one of the beige brigade at all. Quite a crass generalised comment really. I have been attracted by the Yeti since it's inception, but, no doubt like many others became "in the market" for a new car fairly recently, having bought a alternative some years ago when the Yeti was an unproven vehicle. Not wanting to buy a used car the only Yeti is now the FL model. I love the car. It makes me want to drive every day, and I'm having endless fun adding stuff and making it personal. If the car was available in two styles I would have still gone for the FL model as I think it is more modern looking and still stands out from the crowd very well, but I wouldn't assume that those that liked the other version were In any way old fashioned!
  8. This link on the RossTech site tells all. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Navigation_System_%28RNS510%29_Retrofitting Stephen
  9. Thanks for the replies. Low Fell is great, I'm in Gosforth so no distance. Think I know the codes. This is from another post on the forum: No 37 19 can gateway ticked on installation list . However although navigation was appearing on the maxidot, it would not save the change. However persistence w on over. Closer examination in the following section revealed that it was showing that no sound system was installed even though the Columbus was working perfectly. Changing the below to skoda sound system allowed the the display in the maxidot to retain the setting and all works fine. No 37 navigation coding 07. Long coding helper bit 0-7 Was showing 00 sound system not installed Changed to 02 skoda sound system can display Does this make sense? Thanks for helping, Stephen
  10. Hi, Anyone that could help with coding a new yeti to show nav instructions on maxidot display? I'm in Newcastle on Tyne.

  12. Mine was the same. Thought the ride was hard, so checked the pressures and they were al at 2.5 instead of 2.2/2.3 Once I deflated them a bit things improved noticeably.
  13. I agree with Pink Panther. I have just had the 110 2wd FL Elegance for two weeks, have covered 1200 miles on a trip to Devon, and averaged 57.5 mpg. My last two cars were VW Tiguans with 4x4 and 140 bhp, and so far I can't tell much of a difference in terms of traction or power. The Tiguan was a little quieter but that was about it, apart from an average of 41mpg. Early days I know but I think a lot of people think more power is essential but in truth there is a lot more to making a pleasant car.
  14. Well, you can plug a USB stick or portable hard disk and then control it from the head unit. However with a large enough sd card that benefit is marginal. I keep 4 sd 16gb cards in the car with different types of music on each. I never seem to listen to it all.
  15. They've put the engine in the wrong way round?
  16. Hi, My new Yeti arrives on 20 June to replace my current car, a Tiguan 2 litre diesel. I've had it two years and I had one before that for three. It is with some trepidation therefore that I am changing to a Yeti, but from the test drives and all the positive comments here I am fairly sure I will feel justified in making the change. Nothing wrong with the Tiguan, but it is in need of an update. When I got the first one in 2009 there wasn't nearly as much competition in this sector and so choice was a little more limited. Now though it seems others have caught up and surpassed the Tiguan. I also agree with the comment about service. I have had pretty average to poor service from my local dealer, and on one occasion they had the car for almost two weeks to fix an seatbelt tensioner. The Bluetooth module also gave up after about 7 months. These things happen to all cars I know, but I was always left feeling as if they were "doing me a favour" by fixing things. In the case of the tensioner I had to get VWUK involved to make any progress. Can't wait for the 20th !
