  1. Nice one, I'll give that a go this afternoon & see what comes of it
  2. Thanks for trying. Nah I've got no previous info on this car as I've never had to plug anything into it before...................................hopefully as you say someone else might be able to read theirs for me. Give me a Rover 75 & Testbook T4 any day :-)
  3. I did have a quick look but I couldn't seem to find anything........................I'm not used to that site so probably just don't know where to look I've emailed the pump supplier to see what he can come up with
  4. There is a dummy plug to blank the 3 way connector. Wasn't able to read anything from the old unit as the ECU would not communicate. I gave the details of the car & the part number printed on the old pump to the supplier who told me it was compatible. The only coding we can see in the new one is 10110, I believe you change the 2nd last digit to alter the steering weights but I can find nothing on how to programme it to a specific car
  5. Just realised I missed a bit out there, when the light came on initially the power steering failed completely & now works with the new pump, just can't extinguish the light
  6. Been a while since I've been on here, last time was to discuss oil consumption on my mother's Fabia VRS, which I must say has been trouble free since it's replacement engine. I do however have a power steering issue, the light came on a couple of weeks ago & after checking all components & wiring I came to the conclusion the pump had failed. I bought a brand new unit which I have fitted but the light will not go out, now I keep reading that they must be coded to the car but the only coding alterations I can find are to do with steering weight. The problem I have is no signal from the G250 sensor in the rack, but this car having ESP doesn't have a G250, instead it has a G85 sensor behind the steering wheel & the 3 terminals in the pump are redundant. Can something be altered in the pump ECU to make it stop looking for the G250 sensor? The pump is a brand new genuine TRW unit (not sourced from Skoda) & was ordered to the right part number of the old unit
  7. Here's a one for you....................where does the engine number live? My mother never got the new number when her engine was changed so I told her to ask when it was in for service yesterday & they told her it's the same as the old one, surely not. Also what type of engine will they have fitted?
  8. Oh aye I forgot about that............................I'll see what I can do
  9. Well Mother Stirling is delighted so far......................not had to put a drop of oil in the new engine yet, there is an occasional waft of hot oily fumes though but maybe down to a spillage when the engine was fitted, not using oil & not leaving any marks where it's parked. It goes in in a couple of weeks for a check up so it will be mentioned then
  10. Well she's got her car back & she's over the moon..........................not driven it myself yet but she picked me up last night to go out for tea & it sounds sweet & maybe a little throatier than it did. They gave her a copy of what was done & what it cost....................£5000 which surprised me a little, having said that we have had a few MAN trucks go down with engine failure & they've been about £27,000 so I wasn't shocked by it. She finally got the warranty history printed off & the only defects before she got it were a faulty DRL & a phone interface issue, no mention of any oil consumption issues......................I couldn't have let that lie for 3 years of ownership & then gone back & bought another Skoda. I'm just waiting to catch the lad round the corner with the white one & I'll tell him the news, as his has a drink problem too & his dealer told him to wait until the light came on & then run it into them.........................I told him not to wait. I'll let her run it for a while & then I'll have a go of it & open the taps
  11. Well the new injin's in, car should be ready to collect on Monday
  12. Tomorrow's the big day, I really hope so as it was me who "steered" her towards the car in the first place "That'll be automatic, you'll like that" etc. etc. & I have felt a shade guilty ever since, if I'd had more time to do my homework then I think I would have told her to leave it but it was an impulse thing partly based on how good her Mk1 Fabia had been. I'll try & get a pic when it comes back oh & I've had a chance to give it a scrub up
  13. Aye I'll tell her to ask, just be interesting to know...............................one thing they did tell us was there had been no previous history regarding the oil issue, why would you put up with it on such a new car????
