This is my 1st Octavia vRS bought from my friend who had it from new with 57k with "local garage" service history. It's been a typical performance family hatch and bears the wear and tear of such....however I am slowly in the process of applying TLC that it has missed out on. First was a good service then overdue cambelt and water pump change,spark plugs, coil packs care of the Skoda recall, replacement spring new brakes and pads are next when funds allow. Generally like the car a lot and can forsee a long ownership and maybe some subtle mods.

Thanks all again for your replies now the question is if I gather together the kit of components required who is best to fit them as i'm not that talented car wise. I live around the Oldham area is their any garages with recommendations? or maybe Gtr Manchester if that helps any.

Used them for the cambelt and water pump change they collected and returned the car to and from my place of work. They also changed the coilpacks for free after some wrangling I think there was a communication mix up between staff......

I noticed a difference between the strut towers one Is up and the other is down does the mean the top mount has gone and the spring is ok? Or is it something else?

I've done some searching and come across koni fsd's with standard springs and super pro bushes. any thoughts?

are coil overs the only route?

Hi Guys I think i may have broke a spring... i may use this opoptunity to refresh the suspension. I would like to keep the stock ride height but would like it firmer maybe like an Audi but not rock hard like a Seat. ideas and suggestions welcomed.

Decided to do a sort of dry run....jacked car placed on stand no problem, removed wheel and brake caliper no problem.... Come to remove the disc screw and well lets just say the impact driver I bought for the job did'nt make an impact and just mullered the screw. This has not put me off though and will reschedule the job for another weekend i'll be better prepared I will drill the screw and replace all the bits as planned then The re-assembly served as practice and a confidence booster that I could tackle the job. thanks for the replies guys but meaty101's post fills me with dread.....it's my first time doing this sort of job and i done a bit of searching around but if i can do it without removing them i'd be far happier.
