Well I traded in my white adventure Yeti for a Mitsubishi ASX 4X4. Quite sad to see it go but that's the way it goes and life moves on. I found this site to be a great wealth of knowledge on every topic and I would have been stuck without the help and advice I received from several members on winter wheels, roofboxes and bars. I will pop in from time to time to see whats new on the Skoda front that's for sure.

Get the rear windows tinted. Will keep the rear nice and cool.

I think leaving them in is the sensible option, as you say £24 isn't much in the over all scheme of things when compared to the cost of the Yeti.

If the original bolts are a bit corroded it's maybe worth getting a new set? I've just installed my bars a week ago and the bolts seem high quality, Having read through some of the other threads on here regarding the bolts in appears you got a choice of colour (SS or black) originally depending on your roof rails colour and the rails had 10 pre- installed holes. The later pre-facelift cars and facelift models only have 8 so maybe the bolts are now of a better quality?

I've only seen packs of 4 for sale. Are your current bolts the black ones which as I read they were changed to stainless steel ones due to some fault. The newer type bolts are also fitted with an Allen key rather than a torque wrench which I've read was the method for installing the original type. The newer Yetis also only have 8 holes on the rails were the older ones had 10.

Needed the winter tyres this morning as we had quite heavy snow. Yeti and the tyres performed perfectly without a slip, slide or loss of traction. Could be a bit more testing tonight on the journey to work as it looks like black ice will be a consideration.

Thanks Andy. So I'm guessing that I only need the bars and all the stuff for attaching the Thule softbox to the bars comes supplied with them?

Space at a real premium with the summer wheels now stored so wanted something that would take up less room.

This may already have been done to death but I am thinking of getting a set of roof bars and a small roofbox for the Yeti. With the usual luggage along with a folding picnic table and chairs etc its a bit of a squeeze. I picked up a second hand set of 16" SKODA alloys so they are now on the car rather than the steelies which I sold.

Hope this helps but when I use the boot unlock button on the key fob and then open the boot on closing the boot it locks with the flash of the indicator lights as per normal locking instantly.

Same here mine is always on.

Just swapped over to my winter boots. My trolley Jack with hockey puck worked perfectly. Thanks to everyone for the tips and advice, appreciated.

Why couldn't you sit the puck on the saddle, bigger or not and raise the Jack until the puck had engaged at the jacking point?

I think with a hockey puck or piece of hardwood the small saddle shouldn't be an issue.

Going to go with this one :- http://www.sgs-engineering.com/tj2c-2-trolley-jack-with-case Seems decent enough, is CE & GS/TUV Marked and has a 2 year warranty. Doesn't have a huge maximum lift height (380mm) but that should be plenty enough for changing the wheels over.
