  1. My Elegance has been very reliable. I think the Mk3 Octavia is as good as any new car will be for reliability. You can always rely on the internet to turn a few unfortunate issues into epidemics, but as that isn't happening here, I think that is a pretty good endorsement. On the spec - I would say think very, very carefully about the Nav and Canton if you think you might like them. In terms of aftermarket Nav, you can't just pull the headunit any more and fit an aftermarket one - it's fully integrated into the car. And for £500, you wont get close to the Canton. I've not heard the Canton, but it gives you an amp with DSP, centre speaker, sub, and upgraded speakers all round - I'm sure it sounds pretty decent. I have done the whole aftermarket stereo thing. Even DIY, the components alone to make a remotely impressive sound would be £1000 - £250 amp, £250 front speakers, £250 DSP, £250 sub - plus cutting up your car and running wires. It might sound better - if you really know what you're doing - but it is not difficult to spend a packet and make it worse!!!
  2. Bit surprised by these comments - I've come to my Elegance w/ standard suspension after several sportier cars, but would not think to complain about the comfort. Just to be sure, do people mean: -- Harsh - where bumps crash through the car. Like you would get if the suspension was just too hard for the chassis. -- Hard/firm - you just get jostled around too much. I can see why someone used to Jags and Citroens might find it a bit firm, but I struggle to think of it as harsh. Something isn't right I don't think if it really is harsh and crashy.
  3. Hello - just thought that I'd add to this thread to say I have exactly the same issue - self cancelling cruise. Mine is a 2.0TDI DSG Elegance - so the same as AKI's I believe. I was thinking of booking it in, telling them AKIs VIN, and asking them just to update the software. However, as usual, it seems like they are just coming out with a load of bull, and for the effort of hitting "resume" occasionally, I just can't be bothered with the hassle of dealing with the illogical and obstructive arguments that car companies specialise in. I mean, Skoda saying: "ah yes, just because someone else has exactly the same car, where the cruise control cancels in exactly the same way, with no warnings or errors, every 100 miles or so - I wouldn't presume that it has the same fault..." No. Thats right Skoda. It's almost certainly entirely different... :wonder:
