  1. HI Rustynuts. I wonder if you could help. My wife has had her RNS510 'die' on her. Its an OEM unit fitted after sales to her Rapid. Until now, its been fine. But now the touchscreen doesn't respond. The unit powers up and asks for the code number to be put in, but the touchscreen doesn't work. Hard and soft resets haven't helped. The on/off button works fine and as the unit powers up, you very briefly see the radio station list, but then it goes to asking for the code. I have the code, but the screen just does not respond to touch. Thanks.
  2. Ha! I was going to post about the steamed up windows. Not just me then

  4. Mine was always powered as well. PITA for my dashcam which recorded hours of parking in Tescos. Ended up taking it in to an auto shop to get a switched socket put in
  5. Paid 13500 for my Rapid sport in May. I'd be surprised if its on at 6700 in 6 months. Dealers seem to be flogging year old examples of the 105 psi model for around 11000.
  6. Manny's right. If she claims, you will pay (to some degree). Great isn't it?
  7. Know the feeling. My Yaris was hit by a flying object - a pheasant. Left a football sized dent in the bonnet. Changed my views on shooting
  8. The Sport has controls similar to your first picture
  9. Still struggling to find the bluetooth unit itself. If i can find it, you're right option 2 might be easier, but so far........ BTW, i know that these are often under the drivers seat. I don't know if it makes a difference but the Rapid Sport (that comes with bluetooth) also has sports seats, not like the others in the Rapid range. Would that make a difference?
  10. Hmm. Went all over the seat and still couldn't find it. Is it in the seat or under the floor carpet? I did find the cables for the airbag and seatbelt sensor, but that was about it.
  11. Wider tyres probably means more resistance = more drag = less mpg. Looks better though. (we have Ray wheels on ours)
  12. Cool. Whats the glass roof like? Its the reason i'd get a Spaceback over its sister
  13. I'm pleased with our Rapid all round. I'm getting the same MPG as the rest of you, but its the performance which has surprised me. With two adults, 3 big kids, a boot of luggage and a full tank, it would still accelerate lively enough. Its not a car that sets the world on fire, but hey, its not bad.
  14. Great. Thanks for your help. I'll slide the seat back tonight and have a hunt
  15. Cheers KB and thanks Adam (through pm) for your continuing help. I've been away this weekend, so haven't made much progress (impressed with the traffic channel on the satnav!). I'll have a look tonight.
  16. Anyone know where the manufacturer fitted Bluetooth module is to be found in the car? I'm trying to tap into its microphone
  17. Thanks kB, thanks Adam. From the link, would guess its option 1 that would be the easiest and avoid tinkering with the Bluetooth. In other words, run a new, additional microphone into the back of the Columbus and leave everything else alone (if it ain't broken....)
  18. Hi all, I know this topic comes up on a regular basis. From these forums I have an idea of the solution, but just want a bit of confirmation first. The car is a Rapid Sport, 14 plate. Bluetooth comes as standard. I swapped the radio out for a 2014 Columbus H10, otherwise the car is standard (no mfsw) Works fine and with the help of Adamal, vcds coded. But! Voice control doesn't work. It appears she is deaf. I know this comes up a lot! Adam and i both think this is a cabling issue and that the microphone from the blue tooth needs to be fed into the columbus and then on again. Car electrics are outside of my comfort zone, but with the help of the kind people here, i'm prepared to give it a go I've pulled out the unit and photographed the quadlock on the back of it. I've labelled the units to lessen confusion when talking about "the red wire at the top" etc. What do people think - is it a matter of swapping cables around or is it going to be splicing them like is described on the my-gti forum? Thanks everyone
  19. Just had the vcds coding done by a very helpful and friendly member of this parish (adamal). Well worth doing as the maxidot integration with the Columbus is very good.
  20. fits, but you'll need a new fascia (£8) See here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/323049-retrofit-columbus-satnav/
  21. For Thule, i believe its kit 1713 and footpack 754, around £100 for both together
  22. The video in motion is turned off and will remain so. The unit is distracting enough without this - very easy to lose attention to change a track or something and drift across lanes. I've even seen youtube clips of people installing DVB into the columbus and driving along watching the TV. If you're parked up, then fair enough, but i do wonder how tempting it may be to turn it on on a long journey to relieve the boredom. This is perhaps part of a wider debate about technology in cars and how far we go.
  23. No, the simple install above does not allow it to work with maxidot. I have seen an Amundsen unit working with maxidot and this with what I've seen in other forums makes me think its just a matter of vcds coding. Everything else works great though, media, Bluetooth, voice control etc. We let the satnav guide us to an obscure airport in Worcestershire today and it was spot on. One tip - when putting music onto an SD card for the unit, it keeps things tidier and easier to use if you arrange your music into folders - artists, albums, tracks etc. And another advisory, the satnav unit does not display every minor road if you just have the map on, but if it's giving you directions, it will show them. I can't see a reason why the Amundsen+ unit shouldn't work, unless the aerial is different for dab, bit I really doubt that. Lovin it!
  24. I can confirm, hardware H10, software 5270 Quick update, Bluetooth (comes with Sport) works fine, in fact works a dammed site better than on the old radio. Absolutely love the unit, the voice control is a joy. It'll take me a bit of time to get to grips with it all but delighted by it so far. Downloaded the instruction manual to study over the weekend :sun:
