  1. I don't post much on here or on most VAG forums anymore, but felt I had to pay my respects. He stayed in his student digs just 5 mins away from my flat, and I used to see his Fabia every morning on my way to work when he was down here during term time. I met Andrew a few times and he was such a friendly, pleasant guy. We had the odd conversation via PM and he was always eager to help and offer advice. When my mate who runs the bodyshop where he got the work done on his car, text me on Saturday morning to tell me, I couldn't believe it. Think the photo of his Fabia overlooking the sea to be used on the cover of the Briskoda 2012 calendar is such a fitting tribute, with maybe the final page after December simply saying: “In memory of Andrew MacLeod” with this photo that Grizzle put up earlier He was true gent who will be sadly missed. RIP Andrew God bless
  2. AFAIK most VAG models with the same style control stalk as Fabia and Mk1 Octavia can be modified to have the 1 touch 3 blink feature. The VW part nos. to get this feature are:- Relay: 000 953 227 A Loom/Kit: 000 998 229 A Don't think it is too expensive either.
  3. Cool, got you now. et41 with a 25mm spacer will give you et16 which is pretty low, but as you say probably best to see a picture of someone with a 7.5" rim running adapters.
  4. You just using the adapters? Not adapters and spacers together? Basically sticking another 25mm on the rear is in theory giving you an 8.5 wide wheel, but with a starting et of 41 it might not be too bad, although I run 8.5 wide wheels with an et13 on the rear of my Bora and they poke a bit so not 100% sure how much tuck or poke you'll get on the Fabia.
  5. Nice one, cheers guys. So it was standard up to around the 2004 facelift then when the revised rear lights and curvier front bumper was introduced? Probably looking at between 2001 and 2004 models if I can make myself part with my Bora.
  6. Can anyone advise if air con was standard on the Comfort and Elegance models and if so did it only become standard after a certain date? Looking at possibly getting another Fabia, and fancy a TDi Comfort or Elegance but air con is an essential item. Cheers
  7. Spent 4 days doing mine when it was in Ultimate Dubs 3 years ago, then when I arrived at the show spent about another 4 hours cleaning it from its 300 mile journey. Think it was the cleanest its ever been Didn't look too bad don't you think?
  8. Managed to get in and the Fabia lives again whoohoo
  9. Really not my cup of tea either. Apparantly its a 1.4 TDi on air and a whole load of other Halfords bits.
  10. Bugger, that doesn't sound like its gonna be easy. Would the mini air ball still work though if its deadlocked?
  11. Cheers Andrew Thanks for the pic, much appreciated Will giving it a tug not release the wee lever through the grille?
  12. Cheers Would like to try and get to it without having to spend any money on it, I won't have it defeat me Is there anyone with a pic of where the cable is visible as it runs along the wing in the engine bay or can advise whereabouts it can be seen in the bay, other than at the release catch?
  13. I can't as I can't get bonnet open as per PM :(
  14. Can anyone tell me if the circled area in the photo below is the bonnet release cable? If anyone has better pics showing the route of the cable in the engine bay, it would be very much appreciated. Many thanks
  15. The battery has gone flat on our Fabia and the remote locking won't operate now cos of it. Tried the doorlock with the key but it is knackered and key won't fully insert or turn :( Anyone got any ideas how to get in, other than smash a window. Even if I could get the bonnet open so I can get some jump leads on to charge the battery even enough to get locking working again? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers
  16. No not done anything to her car yet other than a new tax disc holder and a new Magic Tree Think I'm going to get the windows tinted on it next then save the pennies to get the vRS bits painted. It'll be a slow work in progress as there are a few things I want to get done to my car that I've put off for a while
  17. That's the first time I've seen our old lights on your car. Looking good fly-eyed Garry
  18. Cheers guys Without hijacking Robbies thread, there's been a lot of work and money to get it where it is just now. Still got plans for it and hope to do more to it over next couple of months, while trying to get the wifes Fabia done too
  19. Cheers mate just to prove it does get cleaned, here's a couple of pics of it looking it's best
  20. Cheers mate Mind you it's manky just now, it's needing a right good clean and summer polish. The wifes Fabia was parked a couple of cars behind mine, standard looking, apart from facelift lights and aero wipers, Silverline.
  21. Just passed your car outside your mates and its looking great. Was trying to get a good look but the wife was with me and was moaning cos I was looking at another car Hopefully get a good look next time I see it
  22. How's about red wheel and gold spokes? Think that'll look cool and a little different
  23. Ha ha I know, £24 for pre facelift would be a bargain too Cheers Garry, been spending most of my time and money on the Fabia recently and got a couple of bits I want to do to my Bora so think get them done 1st as they've been on the back burner for ages, then get the Fabia finished. Got a secret wee touch I'm gonna get my mate to do to the pepperpots I think
