  1. I have the same problem with my 55 reg Octavia Sport. It's going into the dealer in the couple of weeks to have a new windscreen fitted.
  2. After running an Octavia 2.0FSI Elegance estate for just over a year, I moved onto a 2.0TDi Sport. I have to say that with all the problems I've experienced with the present car and the lack of customer service from Skoda, this will be the last one.
  3. Thanks. I'll mention it to them when the car goes in next week.
  4. I've read in the past about a milky band at the bottom of the windscreen being delamination. I have this on my car and I've noticed that the seal in the bottom right hand corner appears to be mouldy or rotten. In this case, can the windscreen be replaced under warranty or do I have to go through my insurance company?
  5. The Scout is featured on the Skoda website along with a video of the car in action.
  6. Talking to the service staff at Robert Eardley, I'm told that they are looking to purchase the old TINS car sales site on the A34 at Bradwell traffic lights (between Newcastle and Talke) for their new Stoke dealership.
  7. Whilst out in the car yesterday, the control system for exhaust gases warning light displayed on the dashboard. I called my local dealer and took the car in a couple of hours later. I was told that they would need to have it for a day to further explore the problem. Then, as I drove off the forecourt, the light went out! Has anyone else had this warning light come on and what causes it? I'm still of a mind to take it in even though the light has gone out just in case any damage has been caused.
  8. Thanks for the reply. We'll see what happens next week and I'll let you know the result.
  9. My 2.0 TDi Sport is going in to the dealer a week today for a rubbing sound coming from the steering and a creak from the front nearside suspension. Whenever I turn the steering wheel to the left, quite a loud rubbing noise can be heard coming from somewhere in the steering. This doesn't happen when turning the wheel to the right. Will this combined with the suspension creak be the steering rack?
  10. I posted a few weeks ago about the fact that my TDi Sport has started to lean on the front offside by about half an inch. The cars handling changed for the worse and road noise increased. The upshot was that my car was booked into the dealer where the mechanic confirmed that it was indeed leaning and handed the car back without offering any explanation. After contact with Skoda Customer Services, my car had a new spring fitted which made no difference at all. I again contacted Skoda who arranged for the Area Technical Manager to have a look at my car. The result was that the car was leaning 'within factory tolerances' and that nothiing more could be done to help me. I still haven't been told what is causing the car to lean and feel that I am being fobbed off. I'm thinking of taking it to another dealer for a second opinion. Has anyone been in the same situation or can offer any advice?
  11. I liked the FSi estate but had to have the clutch and flywheel replaced at only 5000 miles. Along with a few other niggly problems, I never really settled with it and decided to swap it for the TDi Sport. On my estate, I found the gearbox to be more notchy than the Sport and sometime had problems selecting first gear. It was a nice car to drive and surprisingly very good on fuel when towing particularly as it's a petrol. Having had the Sport for 4 months now, I much prefer it and wish that I'd gone for it in the first place. Better at handling and more stable than the estate when towing. On a recent run to Cornwall, managed to get 31 mpg with a 1200kg van on the back. Once the lean on the front offside is sorted, I will be very happy.
  12. With the TDi Sport, I have found that the Dunlop SP's that I have fitted are slightly noisier than the SP's that were fitted to the 2.0 FSi estate. Could also be down to the Sports suspension but much prefer the 17" wheels.
  13. Thanks both. I will try another garage next time and see if it makes any difference.
  14. Hi everybody! I'm Cokey from Stoke-on-Trent and have just signed up to the forum today. I have an Octavia 2.0 TDi Sport in silver. Previously had an Octavia 2.0 FSi Elegance Estate in pearl black but wanted more torque for towing with. Looking forward to joining in with the banter.
  15. Hi all. I'm new to the forum and hoping that someone knows the answer to my problems. I have a '55' Octavia 2.0 TDi Sport that I've owned for about 3 months. About a month after picking up the car, I noticed that the front offiside corner was leaning by about half an inch. I have also noticed that the handling, particularly when cornering, had changed slightly. The car went into my local dealer who first fitted a new spring which made no difference. It went back into the dealer last week for a thorough check of all componements and still no reason for the lean can be found. The current situation is that the garage is liasing with the technical department at Skoda for a possible solution. My second problem is when filling the car up with fuel. On the last 2 occasions when filling up at my local Tesco, the pump kept cutting off after every 4 or 5 litres. This kept happening until the pump timed out and cut off after 3 minutes. I tried the nozzle in different positions but it made no difference. The cashier stated that the reason for this was that I had an air lock in the tank. Has anyone experienced any of these problems and if so, what was the fix?
