iv'e had both the vrs and now the fr. i had the 53 model vrs and it had the high gears. the fr has the low gears that they all have now and it's a lot easier to drive. has everyone says it's pros and cons. the vrs i had was lowered and it was definately a harder ride than the fr. i think personally the vrs has more street cred the the fr. i just would like to see a 3 door vrs. the vrs had a lot more rattles and squeaks than my current fr but that could of been due to the harder suspension. i like them both but i think a vrs with a set of nice wheels looks best. trim quality and overall gadgets again the vrs wins. i am a driving instructor and find that without extra practice most people are taking at least 40 hours. DSA reccomend 45 hours + extra practice. the roads get more difficult every year so 10-20 hours as it was 10 years ago as long gone. Tom.

iv'e got the leon fr tdi. its a lot smoother than the vrs was but the initial kick from the turbo isn't as much as the pd 130. iv'e got the ibiza fr as well. the leon is due to go to jabba first week in july so i'll let you know how it does. i find the brakes fine in the standard car but may have to upgrade them with the remap.Tom.

the front mounted intercooler wont give more power alone. it will sustain power in a chipped car for longer and with less probable damage to turbo. a car fitted with a front mounted intercooler would have to have their chip tweeked to gain the full benefit. as far as i know the ecu is not addaptive so wouldn't provide more fuel without being told. when i had my fmic fitted to my pug 206 i initally lost power. there is a lot of discussion what difference a front mounted intercooler might make to a fabia vrs or ibiza fr tdi. just been thinking back to when i had a 90 bhp 206 hdi. this is how the figures panned out with my mods. chip alone from 90-112 bhp. chip + tuning box. ( to increase fuel pressure )=133 bhp. front mounted intercooler without rechipping =128 bhp! all the above + re chipping= 154 bhp. so you can see just adding a front mounted intercooler without adding more fuel wont increase power. remember the 206 didn't have an intercooler at all though before start of tuning. this got me to 7.20-60 and 1/4 mile in 15.3. i also had an uprated clutch that alowed me to take off in 2nd gear. just thought it might be of interest to some people. rear brakes groaning on fab vrs is a known problem to dealers. should be fixed under warranty. Tom.
