  1. Yep, didn't make a blind bit of difference. Still no sound. Need to get VCDS on it again and look at what options I have. Thought this was going to be a straight forward swap!
  2. I stumbled across a post on a VW forum indicating that my factory fitted Aux connection might be the source of the problem. Going to remove the Aux and the CD Changer from the quad lock connector and try that. When the 3rd party loom adaptor was on, it effectively cut Aux and Changer out anyway.
  3. Yep it's an aftermarket HU - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/AppRadio/AppRadio+2+(SPH-DA100) Yeah the loom adaptor or as halfords call it, the wiring harness, produced two ISO connections. Until I can get VCDS on it again, I can't be sure but my gut feeling is that this is a duff head unit. If I'm right, I just want to get my money back on it and I'll get a GTMMI HU instead.
  4. Everything checks out ok on the quadlock as far as I can see! Everything is where I'd expect, including CAN +/-
  5. Yeah I had sound working with the loom adaptor on.Got firmware updated to v3810a now, and there is progress even if very slight. I'm now getting system beeps on button presses which I wasn't before. Still nothing from radio or CD though. Confirmed that radio is receiving signal. If I'm getting the beeps would that be an indication that some VCDS work is required? Just in the middle of putting v10 maps on. On the CAN no connection issues, I see that the menu is no longer available (or perhaps just needs re-enabled in VCDS post-upgrade). At this time, I'm unable to confirm if the upgrade has sorted those issues. Once the maps are on, I'll have a look at the quadlock connector.
  6. Sorry, should have mentioned in my original post; I've all ready had the Stream back in to confirm audio works, and does without issue. Are the CAN "no connection" messages just a red herring? Tried googling that and not getting much back on it suggesting that it's either normal or it's a unique problem to my car... I'll download that firmware and have at it tomorrow. Need to see if I can find a copy of the v10 maps data somewhere that isn't TPB!
  7. Yeah I expected any firmware updates to wipe all the data. I'm no stranger to updating firmware on various devices but this will be a first on a Columbus unit... Am I able to go straight to v3810a or is there a safer upgrade path through various versions?
  8. Hi folks, Struggling with a Columbus unit purchased on eBay. I have a Mk2 Octavia VRS pre-FL (58 Plate) - just removed a Pioneer Appradio 2 to install the Columbus unit. On first installation, I'd forgotten to remove one of the loom adapters unit powered on and produced audio, but wouldn't physically fit on account of the mahoosive hunk of plastic on this adaptor. One slap of the forehead and removal of adaptor later, unit fits snug, powers on but produces no audio. I've had VCDS on it and enabled Navigation and left Radio ticked, still no joy. It's coded for no sound system (as there's not one present) and coded for Front and Rear active speakers which reflects the current setup. I've tried disconnecting the battery for 10mins just in case that kicked it into life but no cigar. On accessing the service menu, I'm not happy with the CAN menu which reads "No connection" next to everything... Any and all suggestions of what could be up would be appreciated. If it's helpful, here's the System output from the service menu: Delivery Part Number: 1Z0035680A HW-Version: H04 SW-Version: 1024 Map info is Navteq West Europe v8048 which I believe is v10? Help please!
