There will be snow expected during the period :(. . So need your advice how can I leave the car, couple of things that I know off are 1. remove battery wire too keep battery charged. 2. not using handbrake, put the car in second gear. 4. I have a Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI 2003 model. The car either takes a crank or does not take crank. when it takes the crank than engine start on the first shot.. if it does not the battery light dims and rest not. Sometime there is a problem with car lock system. I understand if the battery is poor, engine takes many weak crank to start ? recently there was a problem with wiper relay 377 which i replaced but this problem persist.

  8. Hi I am looking for something which I dont know how to explain :P. I think picture says thousands word so I am attaching a picture (by the way its not my car :P). Actually I am looking for a rubber made circular thing which stops water getting inside the car. I dont know its purpose but after lifting the car, it seems my car missing this "thing". The car rear carpet keep getting soaked every time I drive in the rain. I hope wise people can help me in explaining the purpose and how to get it ?
  9. Hi Wiper on my car (skoda octavia 1,9 diesel 2003) has gone made i.e. not stopping at all. I have research on this great group on the problem & found three remedies 1. fuse problem 2. stalk 3. relay I have checked 1. with no success but Now i want to test 3. first before I go on to change stalk. I can buy the relay 377 myself but not too sure how much expertise require to replace it and the risk. In Denmark the price to do the job is quite high. Can any one share the good explanation on how to remove the panel under the steering wheel.
  10. Hej I have tighten the nuts of battery and replug the 3 fuses on top of it. Since than no problem :sun: . Thanks for the help.
  11. good thanks ! Battery is two year older... how long does it last ?
  12. Hi I have a intermittent starting problem with my skoda octavia 2003 1.9 tdi. The problems are many but I think they all relate to single cause (i hope) Sometimes when I turn on the ignition, all dashboard lights do not glow with full strength and wiper also move quite slowly and engine does not take crank. I switch off and switch on for number of times and then all seems normal  . During this process, sometimes mileage counters resets and my electronic parking clock also initializes. The central locking system also not functions properly.... some time it requires couple of pressing to open the lock. and sometime alarm starts buzzing as soon as I open the door. However the car runs perfectly mechanically.... i have recently spent a lot of money on breaks etc just to keep the car for next couple of years and now this happens ... Is this problem something to do with ECU or locking system ? Any comments will be much appreciated. Thanks !
  13. Hi I think you are spot on. After letting the problem live with me for couple of weeks in order to diagnose. I think I have something similar to what you explain. As I said the problem is intermittent. I pulled the handbrak yesterday to park my car and this morning the wheel was again jammed and handbrake was soft. Than I press the paddle brake and I heard the sound "DIK" from the handbrake and vilolla the wheel get release immediately and handbrake gets normal again. Do you see something similar, clue ?
  14. I am having the same problem. the wind wiper never stop. Mechanic says the multi-functional switch lever must change. It cost around 140 pounds (in dk).
  15. Hi Could you explain guide tubes for the cables ? where can I find it ?
  16. Hi Recently I have changed all the brakes, disks, caliper (only both rear one) of my Octavia 1.9 TDI. But now the handbrakes behaves strangely. Sometimes the handbrakes lever becomes hard & sometime it is soft to pull. This cause intermittent brakes. The brakes works good all the time but when I release the lever it sometime does not release the calliper fully which cause my rear right wheel to get warm if I drive :(. Can you help me troubleshooting the failure in my car... mvh KTH
  17. well you all guys were spot on. it was just a switch but not just a price ... it cost around 60 pound just to fix that in Denmark ! the dealer charges were 140 pounds ...
  18. Hi I just experienced today that my octavia 1 2003 diesel has brake light ALWAY ON even after i switch off the ignition and took the key out. When i pulled the brake pedal forcefully to dead position the light went off but sooner turned on again... what could be the prob and how to fix it ? For now I have remove the fuse (F13 10 v) just to make sure I can start the car tommorow morning otherwise the battery would drain.. is it the correct/OK way ? please help thank !
  19. OK thanks. I will try with the screwdriver. Regarding the jerk startup (00:36) why is that... is it a battery problem ?
  20. Hi In order to suppement the question I attach a one 53 seconds youtube video to explain the behaviour. I have Skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi 2003. Every morning in the freezing temp ( -5 degree n less) when I turn on the ignition the coolant light flashes just after few seconds and it remain flashing even when i start the motor. Car starting is also kind a jerky as you can see on the video (00:36). All light lit up during the start only at the first attempt but it never happens again during the day (minus battery problem ?). I keep the car started for couple of minutes and stop the car. When i restart the motor, there is no coolant light flashing. For reference I am also attaching the behavior of the start problem. Is it a normal behavior ? https://youtu.be/nQrzVltuS90
  21. Yes that true when i stoped the car and restart the problem gone... so it is sticky vanes problem apparently... How can i solve it should i use some additive ?
  22. Mechanic is suggesting that the Turbo is losing power. I once noticed last month that the car is not speeding up on the motorway and stuck at 110 kmh and never goes up even on full blast. I dint experience this for a while (travel over 2000 km after that incident). I think that trigger him to change the Turbo may be ?
