  1. Probably a fair assumption on grade given the above then. My concern for anyone buying remotely, is they don't get to see things like the DAB isn't working etc, but i guess this is generally trade and about the risk and opportunity.
  2. I had Thule 118 wing bars and 757 footpack on the vRS estate - easy to fit and perfect with the proride 598/591. Thule is expensive but it does work well. i had to upgrade to a new footpack and frustratingly a fitting kit for the new passat (rails with no gaps underneath), the vRS didn't need fitting kit hence is £40 cheaper!
  3. Interesting. What does grade 4 mean (knackered?) - do you find out what it goes for?
  4. £5005 i believe. I could have had it but i think it needs too much work to get to standard i'd be happy selling on. The plus points with it were it has a few options (it was ex demo, so 2 owners to date) - Canton, Columbus, leather seats, power boot, black pack. It was also on fixed services, so serviced regularly (probably at least 3 times a year). The minus points, it really needs a full blow over, virtually every panel had stone chip/flaking paint from chip/tar and/or dent (one on the roof also), and drivers door had a 'ripple' someone did it in a car park when i wasn't there. Paint was coming off one of the rear calipers also. Oil use and dpf regens - skoda reckon that 1L / 1000 miles was in tolerance, but it was often using much more than this (no external leaks) and it was doing regens a lot even after long/hot runs - some theory oil burning off from the dpf? DAB on the radio went missing - skoda reckoned £2700 to replace the media unit - it seemed to burn out in last years hot weather (its possible someone could repair the tuner unit but skoda wouldn't touch it). NSF suspension, i caught it on a kerb and the castor was very slightly out according to digital tracking ( but there were no tyre wear issues) Lane assist, needs re-calibration/doesn't work Usual corroding on the wheels and kerb rash. 'Workshop error put in P' issue - didn't get fix prior to warranty expiry so never got fixed (£900+ for new selector) but it never actually caused an issue. Needs need OS door mirror cover/surround (it in place but cracked where someone caught it in the lanes) Don't get me wrong it was a great car, never let me down and despite the above i did try to look after it. It moved us to our new house and brought my daughter home from being born etc, so am sorry to see it go but it was time to change. It could be a good car for someone but would need to be at the right price for a car with 127k miles on it.
  5. Only 2.0 tdi 150, so not rapid but its a different style of motoring for me during the week. The vRS to be fair was not that far off the pace of the golf R but having too 'sporty' cars didn't make too much sense after we got the golf.
  6. Presumably thats Columbus, as i'd assume on Amundsen you can't have both maps up at the same time or use CarPlay nav (if route programmed on Waze etc)? This is how the VW system works, you have to upgrade to Discover pro to get dual maps.
  7. Well, after almost 5 years and 130k miles my (company) car, it was time to say goodbye to the vRS as its been changed for a new R line passat estate on Verona's. Its a lovely car, quieter but slightly less exciting than even the tdi vRS (but we have the golf R for weekends anyway). I considered a Karoq but did want virtual cockpit, needed ACC and DSG tdi but need to be in stock/docks or ex demo (this was a unicorn, even though they are all options). Another vRS was an option but fancied something different and also i find the electronic handbrake and DSG works well in the VW. Anyhow, the company sold the vRS to 'we buy any car', obviously pretty cheap as they can never be bothers selling them privately - so if anyone sees it turn up on forecourt in a week or two and is thinking about buying it, drop me a line and i can let you know the true history (its had a good but fairly tough life but is probably ok at the right price!) - black vRS estate, reg WF64AHD. So having had two octavia's, now moved on to two VW's - probably lurk around here though as the forums definitely don't seem as good!
  8. Hi all, Looks like it about time to get new company car - budget may just reach to karoq sportline 1.5 tsi dsg. I'd be coming from a 2014 tdi vrs dsg, which is now using a lot of oil with 127k on the clock hence the company are not willing to invest in it too much further. Just looking at some general thoughts and opinions; the 1.5 / 4x4 / dsg, reading the 'jumpy' issues - for me financial the risk is low, more annoying if there's issues, as it company car but is this a major issue now? In our golf i find the 7 speed dsg very good but thats twice the power of the 1.5 tsi. Swapping tdi to tsi - company pays most of the fuel for my circa 30K+ miles per year so mpg isn't a biggy but obviously power/torque is different and i do like how the tdi goes on the motorway, has anyone made any longer term comparisons? We've got the golf R for weekend/2nd car, so i'm almost happy to have a more subtle/relaxed power figure. Sportline options - specs seem pretty good as standard but i'd like the virtual cockpit, adaptive cruise is critical. Are there any other must haves - is canton necessary (the vrs has canton, and it was better than the standard but isn't fantastic), i'd hope the standard skoda set up is better 5 years on? Any other thoughts? cheers
  9. Interested in this thread, as I'm considering similar swap as to finnster - my 2014 VRS tdi is likely to be swapped out (company car) in the next few weeks as its using a lot of oil with 127k miles on it. In my case the company pay the fuel (other than some minor personal use) but i was looking for a sportline with the 190 tdi 4x4 dsg but this seems to be a unicorn (despite what DTD says!) - even tdi's seem to be rare with the dsg. Given timings i'll probably need to see if theres any ex-demo's or stock cars coming up - i'd like virtual cockpit if possible. I confirmed with the company today though that i could get a petrol 1.5 tsi dsg - obviously 'only' 150ps but i gather the karoq isn't the car you necessarily buy for sports driving (i can say that as we have a golf R as weekend/2nd car). The list price of the tsi is better than the tdi so i think the car tax is about £25/month better for me going petrol. Without trying to hijack the OP, my only real concern is that the 30k+ miles or so a year i do is on the high side for petrol (not from a fuel use point of view though). How does the 1.5 tsi sit at motorway speeds (is it revvy)?.
  10. ^^^ This is probably the 'error workshop' related to the DSG - quite a few DSG's did it - my 2014 included, but has stopped now at 117,000 miles! Despite gear selector replacements under warranty, there was also talk of it being a trapped cable - hence i wonder if your other electrical issues are related to a trapped cable including this issue.
  11. Only ever notice the lights moving on one of the sharp but sweeping S bends out in the country on my way home, it also dives down and back up so you see the lights on the road more - you have to have changed the steering angle pretty quickly in the opposite direction whilst going a reasonable speed (40mph+) to really notice anything i think. No cornering fogs set up on the vRS. The lights in our R do the same albeit full LED but it doesn't have cornering fogs (it has no fogs due to the rads/intercoolers), it actually has lights in the side of the headlights that come on - they do work well, as i've never really liked seeing one fog light 'ping' on, on other cars.
  12. Wpuld hope they tried the aerial, is it hard to get to?
  13. Murray’s Plympton - there’s been one or two issues with them (when the speaker was playing up they just turned the bass settings down for example) - but I fear this is normal service now for most main dealer garages! I’m not sure if they tried to reinstall the dab app only but no evidence as such.
  14. Defo get rebalanced, National tyres once did mine and didn’t bother doing the rears! The weights are ‘only’ stuck on so could easily come off and if it was soon after the tyres were done it wouldn’t be obvious.
  15. Updated to 411 but saying no tuner found :-( , think Skoda garage might be right but annoyed they didn’t update the software
  16. Hi Paulius, do you know what firmware fixed this, as I don’t think they put new firmware on
  17. So skoda looked at my dab and concluded I need to spend £2600 on a new infotainment control unit!!! not sure if im imagining things but I think I have one or two other issues - e.g. the ‘max heat’ but turns the screen blower on but doesn’t set the a/c to ‘Hi’ like it used to. I can’t seem to get into the a/c profiles on the infotainment so you probably linked I guess?
  18. For that price i'd run it on until such time / if such time it causes a physical issue.
  19. Its MIB1 running 0390 i believe. Sounds similar, can't find any record of having DAB at all. I'll get it booked in when i can, got a few other bits to get looked at - time for a new one i think!
  20. Mine 64 plate vRS has been doing this since about 3’000 miles, it’s on 107’000 miles now and hasn’t had a problem just occassionally ‘pings up’
  21. No, was listen to dab on way to take kids swimming sat morning and came back to car 45 mins later and it had changed to an untuned FM channel
  22. So after 4+ years of listening to DAB stations on Columbus / Canton / MIB1 in my vRS on Saturday morning the DAB option just literally disappeared from the radio (just in time to remove 5live for the football!). I can get FM to work but theres surprisingly few radio stations around my way if you don't want BBC radio. I've tried resetting the infotainment and a 'hard reboot' several times. It seemed to have a bit of an issue with USB and bluetooth for a while but these came back. Any ideas - don't think there is away of turn DAB option on or off in settings anywhere?
  23. But not the estate (they didn’t bother producing another cluster for it).. our 7.5 R doesn’t have them, but I’m cool with that
  24. Nice, heres my pre FL one... IMG_3598 But you'll be wanting this... after a few washes http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/glazes/poorboys-black-hole/prod_494.html
  25. So see the old lease scout made it to the dealers https://www.dmkeith.com/used-car-details/used-skoda-octavia-scout-tdi-cr-4x4-estate-race-blue-manual-diesel/id-10198/ £14991? We paid just under £9k I think in rentals, so this is probably similar to what we might have paid at discount if we’d brought it rather than leased (I think list price was £27k but clearly it would be a few k cheaper)
