  1. Brought semi tailored seat covers for my normal fabia. Think by premier were on ebay. Not that expensive and choice of piping colours etc. Really fast service and made especially in the colour I wanted.
  2. Sometimes worth epoxy resin glueing the rivnut in before clamping it down.
  3. Had a quotes all in for 377 and 356 Inc pump or local garage 200 +vat no new pump.
  4. What sort of price should I be paying to have my timing belt changed? Any recommendations for a garage in Somerset or north Dorset? Does the water pump be replaced at the same time? Thanks
  5. Switch sometimes goes. They did away with the internal handle sadly. You can go through the boot and pull the little orange lever across but not very practical. Think the wiring can break as well. Mine stopped working so I added a bike brake cable and lever as a temporary repair. Slammed the boot down and it started to work again.
  6. Got my fitted second hand one from ebay. Can still use the cover.
  7. Pre heat engineering? Do various ones. Low power so worth having a time switch to the external socket
  8. Since fitting the botch of a bike brake lever to open the boot. The lock has been working ok. Leaving it on in case but thinking switch rather than the wiring.
  9. So a 3 button key fob would by pass the switch and wiring if it's not well?
  10. Great! After putting the solenoid back on after testing it the lock started working normally! Going to leave the bodge in place incase. Also going to be hard to find what wire it is if it's an intermittent fault!!
  11. I did a temporary repair to mine today till I can check the wiring. Put a bike brake lever on the dog guard then a brake cable to the lock so can open the tailgate without going through the seats and emptying the boot that way!
  12. My boot lock stopped working the other day. Not so easy to open the boot when you have a ladder and tool kit in it! Mines a bohemia and doesn't have the lever but the attachments to fit it are on the lower bit of the lock along with the lock opening solenoid. Only 2 buttons on the key fob. Thinking broken wire so will need to chase bit it doesn't look an easy fix!
  13. Fitted a,second hand witter with a new gueniue electrics kit. The lights work but need it programming for the warning light to work. Think you can fit a second hand one from polo's, seats and the fabia hatch is same as the estate.
  14. Wd40 is a jack of all trades master of none. Don't know if just plumbfix or if screwfix do it as well but a freezing penetrating oil in a spray.
  15. I love my 1.9tdi estate bohemia model. Bit odd with the spec with non electric rear windows. Basic interior light. Have uprated the light. Still want to fit led's in the back. Have fitted grab handles as well. I wanted an estate due to work and dogs. The dog guard is to stop them going into the boot/ crumple zone. Have a tow hitch as well. Last car was golf cab with a 2 litre engine and low ratio gearbox so still needed some poke.
  16. I personally rate skoda above vw. Vw seem to live on their reputation where skoda had to make theirs. The fabia was on the polo chassis before the polo!
  17. Wd40 is a jack of all trades and a master of none. Plus gas is an out and out penetrating fluid. Makes a lot difference!
  18. I got a wiring set up from deutsche-parts.Co.Uk. Second hand tow bar. Easy to fit. Does ground out at times as drops down below the bumper by a few inches. To cut the bumper used an oscillating multi tool. The electrics just plug and play as before the can bus system. You are meant to get the car recoded so the dash warning indicates when the trailer is indicating. Will work though but needs doing for mot.
  19. Think they are all the same. As they fit the estate as well. For the electrics I went to something marque's I seem to remember. Plug and play before 57 plate ones but you need a re code to get the warning light to work.
  20. I think it was a secret compartment which was fairly discrete! Very limited access to mine. Don't think many people look too closely especially if my girlfriends dobermans are in the car.
  21. You can get the locking wheel nut tools which are a bit like the irwin bolt removal sockets. They have a reverse thread which bites into the nut.
  22. You think that the cost of a painted door mirror for an expensive car must cost a few hundred quid these days! I think insurance is actually quite cheap really even if I do complain on renewal! If you throw in the cost of a personal injury claim and the way you see people drive. I've been with admiral for 10 years golf cabs and now fabia estate 1.9tdi. Seems to be dropping in price insurance wise and paying 190. Prefer my land rover full comp classic car 11seats and now £107 Inc European breakdown and recovery.
  23. Other point is that if it is a charger which cycles through its programme when the voltage drops it can set the alarm off.
  24. Should be able to more mileage than that. When it cuts out and the rev counter goes straight to 0?
