  1. Standard Octy vRS alloy width. Are they 7, 7.5 or other?
  2. Apologies if this has been asked before, i couldn't find any previous posts? The CD changer appears to be screwed or mounted to the side of the boot wall, with no visable fixings. Someone must know how to remove it without brut force (which i am close to doing)
  3. Yes please DO NOT ask me for parts, dont want this being locked again. Cat C i believe The damage was estimated at more than the cars worth and is structural due to the B pillar moving. The garage where it was assessed is actually only 2 mins from where i live, went there earlier and removed the tax disc to claim a refund. Damage is to drivers side doors, wing and Bpillar, and maybe some parts behind the front wheel as the wheel is rubbing on the arch/mudflap. The roof and bonnet are not kinked or damaged at all, all the damage was low down at the level with strips on the doors. I am gonna start another thread soon asking how much parts might be worth, interior alloys etc etc...but this is only to get an idea of prices, NOT to sell on here...yet, until the Freedom member upgrade is done
  4. I have now agreed an offer for the car, and I also get to keep the car, so i'll be breaking it and selling parts on here in a few weeks time, once i've signed up to become a FREEDOM member, and the car is returned to me. Yay all is going well again
  5. Oh the joys of the insurance world, now they are saying it isbeyond economical repair, and have offered me more than what i was going to sell it for. Should I take their first offer or should i be cheeky and ask for a little more?
  6. Thats all fine by me, i'm an honest bloke, honest!!
  7. Thats all good news then, so i can still sell at the price originally wanted.
  8. So when it comes back all fixed will it have any Cat C or Cat D history on it when i go and sell it. Surely that will affect its value?
  9. The assessor has been round this morning, and told me that due to its age and value, the car will be repaired, not written off. Can I refuse to have the car back on the grounds that I dont want my baby travelling in a damage repaired car, and that i wont get the £4800 I wanted to sell it for. Do I have a case? I really dont want the car back now...
  10. I paid €124 for an 8 lap ticket this easter
  11. 38 laps!! I only got in 10 in 2 days. Wasnt as busy as previous Easters was it?
  12. I think there is only 1 full weekend available in Sept, that being the first weekend of the month. All the other weekends are half days or none at all
  13. Hi all Further to an earlier thread in the Octavia section, http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octavia/car-written-off-advice-needed/77424/ ,now locked, please note that I am NOT selling anything in this thread, and please do not make any offers on parts. My 2001 Octy vRS has been written off. They are coming on Monday to collect it/assess it. Once i get my agreed price for it, a mate of mine wants to buy it off the insurance company, and use the engine for an up and coming project. How does this work? Once the car is in the possession of the insurance company and I have my money, do i have the optoion to buy it off them or can anyone else buy it off them before they pass it on to a breakers? My mate wants the engine and associated parts, but a vRS at our local breakers recently proved to expensive. Any advice greatly received
  14. Thanks for all your help, I was going to put it up for £4800, and go down to about £4500, as the car really was in good shape. Anyway, the parts that I plan to keep are: Boot Luggage net Spare alloy & Tyre CD changer Matts O/S indicator (popped out on impact as is intact Tax disc Also have 4 Conti sport tyres i was going to fit, so they can sell also. Hopefully that'll make me a bit of pocket money...
  15. I have been involved in a crash and the other party has already admitted liability. Our car is written off, and is being taken off our driveway later this week by the assesors. Damage is to front, drivers side doors and B pillar. I have a couple of questions though: Is it worth taking out things like the CD changer, spare alloy to sell privately and try and make a bit of cash. And at what point do i remove the tax disc to claim that back. Also, do i refuse their 1st offer for the car, and aim to get the £4800 i was going to sell it for next week? A sad end to an immaculate low mileage vRS:( , but at least there were no injuries.
  16. First of all, this is not a thread advertising the sale of my car, i just want to get a rough price in my head before i do advertise it. OK, I have a 2001 (51) Silver Octy vRS, completely standard, and everything works as it should, no fault codes, warning lights or missing parts. Full Skoda service history, 65000 miles, cambelt and service done in Jan, as well as 4 new tyres. Only bad points are 2 small "grazes" on the rear bumper and bodywork near the petrol cap, and a couple of kerbed alloys. I am only the 2nd owner, and have all the relevent paperwork to prove its history. MOT and Tax due around July I believe. What can i expect to get for this, i am guessing (hoping) for
  17. Im going at Easter with some friends, but in my other car, as the wife needs the vRS for shopping etc...
  18. Cheers, the gearbox oil was changed on its service in September. I know this because they left the filler cap off, i found it on my driveway the next day!
  19. I believe its the original clutch, its done 65000. I haven't driven it for ages so i'll ask the missus about the clutch pedal. Thanks or your reply
  20. When i bought my 51 plate vRS last July, i noticed engaging reverse gear was slightly harder than the rest, but didnt think anything of it. Now, 7 months later it has got much worse, engaging reverse is hard, 1st to 2nd is not great, and engaging 1st is near impossible. The missus is struggling to drive it now. Any ideas what might cure this, funds are tight at the mo and i cant afford another trip to my local Skoda garage for a while. Any help greatly appreciated
  21. They put some "special grease" on them free of charge, which done the job for about a week!! Sorry lads but i don't think Skoda know how to fix this
  22. Cheers i checked the level and all is ok. I cant believe the dealer left the plug off in the first place. Tut tut
  23. Following on from this thread, http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octavia/help-what-part/70017/ , before I screw this plug back in, would any of the geabox oil been spilt whilst driving. How can I check if it needs topping up as it is a right pain to get to?
