  1. Great to see an actual brochure, thanks for that. Not the Aussie spec model that I might be interested in but at least a RHD version so that's a start. What I have trouble with is a 28 page document and not one mention of engine size/specs, drivetrain configurations, gearing, brake size, type etc. Does no one care about this stuff anymore ? Sure, it's got wireless charging for my mobile phone but is that the most important thing I want from a CAR. Answer = NO .
  2. I don't know what it did look like but it looks great now. Well done.
  3. Nice, your good taste continues to impress. So what offset are these?
  4. I'm with you skudshaun, I think they will fit fine too. Though the diameter will be more scout like than VRS but a bigger diameter looks better IMHO. But yes, you will be traveling slightly faster than indicated but it's still probably closer to the real speed than the factory calibration. The oem specs for tire size on these cars is way too conservative as far as I'm concerned.
  5. Skoda does not have access to the vRS trademark in Australia so it's renamed RS. Badges all remain the same and still contain the v
  6. As per BGB's response. Fit scout size tyres and that wheel will fit fine. The offset is the same as all the current Skoda wheels, even the Scout. It would look much better with a lower offset though, especially on the rear
  7. Just add Jaco2k to your ignore list like I've just done. Makes for a better forum experience.
  8. Just found this. Excellent I thought, a Scout project. I really like what you've done with it with the 18"s and love your attention to detail and the detailing. Cheers from down under.
  9. Scout on 18"s with pics here; http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/181290-scout-on-18-allroad-tyres/
  10. Well that's boring. I would have thought 18x8" (or 8.5") ET40-45 would still be consider pretty conservative and far from the 'maximum specs'. Whatever that is.
  11. No you are not right. The extra width will be half inside/half outside +/- the difference in offset which is only a mm. In your example the extra mm is to the inside (greater offset means more inboard). But aren't standard wheels ET51 (still only another mm or two) or are you taking into account spacers?
  12. I think it's most likely that the roof rails/roof bar restraint systems is the weakest link. Think about how they are actually attached. They would likely be at their safe working limit at around 75kg if then subjected to emergency braking or other forces present in an accident. I would hope the roof could actually support the weight of the car, if you ever happen to find yourself inverted.
  13. No, that's not correct. The Australian Scout III range offers three variants; Octavia Scout 4x4 110TDI Manual Only Octavia Scout 4x4 Premium 132TSI DSG Octavia Scout 4x4 Premium 135TDI DSG The 103TDI Manual and Premium 110TDI DSG were the previous Scout II offerings. So yes, there are RHD Petrol Scout IIIs made.
  14. Well if you don't know your existing tyre size and can't simply type that in that website is probably too advanced for you anyway. I find that site extremely useful for comparing tyres/wheels of different specs Cheers
  15. Now we're talking I think that would be close to perfect. 235/35/19 front 265/30/10 rear Fronts up only slightly (1.6%) on overall diameter compared to stock with the rears a few mm less. I prefer to use this; http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp
  16. Very nice Brian. Almost certain that's the colour I'll be choosing too It appears to be very similar to Mrs Auskouts VW Eos, VW call that colour Opal Silver but it sure isn't silver. I too wouldn't mind if it was a bit darker.
  17. Your car looks great x77r. I'm looking forward to your next instalment, and also your wheel mods. I made a move towards getting my Scout today, I went to the dealers at lunchtime and had a sit in one and a chat to the salesmen. Baby steps. They have only just been released in Australia (March 2015) and only now starting to show up at dealers.
  18. I think you guys arguing speed/weight/power/torque are giving wayyyy too much credibility to the accuracy of the stats in the brochures. Real world is likely to be very different. I very much doubt the engine specs are different between models fitted with the same engines. Obviously AWD will add weight, but with the benefit of better initial traction. And does it really matter anyway. Who takes a Skoda to a drag strip?
  19. How exciting. I look forward to some colour photos once you've picked it up.
