18x9.5 alloys 2009 estate?
vrsestateni replied to vrsestateni's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
for the 3 guys who posted pics. all 3 look nice on the setups you have. can I just ask when you hit a big bump ect do the rear wheels clear the arch as in go up inside the arch without hitting. I have actually put of buying my wheels just for now as my work situation has changed slightly but I will be getting back to this lol. the wheels I WILL get at some point soon are Bola B1. bit different from the normal euro look. cant post a pic of them I take it you need photobucket or something like that.? -

looks very nice. does not stick out as far as I thought it would. Are you having to run any camber ect to clear the arches on the coilovers? I will prob run my 225-40-18s until I can afford maybe a slightly wider tyre on the rear. nice motor -

Any photos? And also do you have any problems with rubbing on the rear. What tyres are you using on rears -

Yours do look like a tight enough fit. Are the spacers to clear the strut or just to get it sitting where you want it. Have you any photos of just the rear wheel arch to show how it sits? -
if they don't fit he wont get the money until I have wheels that do fit. lol. seems to be photos of some running 9.5 on rear. some look ok and some look like they poke out a mile. must be offset

funny you should say that but my partner and I bought a brand new fabia 1.2 se there few months back and guess what it states that the clutch release bearing is not covered under warranty lol. I think I should push this one quickly on my car as I have only had it over a week. looks better. -

the guy that selling me them is from a big wheel company that sells thousands of alloys so I hope he knows what he is talking about or I will have to tell him to send 9.5 back and order more 8.5s for rear. but I don't want to have to stick on any silly camber ect. the only reason I thought he was making sense was the rears do look like they sit in a good bit. -
car is dirty at the min will give it a wash at the weekend and get a few photos for you or if you are floating about Belfast I could meet you somewhere. cant get rid of them till I get new ones tho.

I was talking to wheel place today and he said that 18x8.5 on front and 18x9.5 on the rear will be dead on. He also told me my tyres 225-40-18 will fit on to them. Any advice on this from anyone. 2009 fl estate.

Sounds bit like chewbaka of star wars lol. -
Only noticed this a couple of times. When car is warm and I am sitting in traffic. When letting clutch out to move off I get a moan or droan noise from gearbox. No other symptoms and all is still smooth otherwise. Only from standing start. Was thinking maybe noisy release bearing or something. May take it to skoda see if they can fix it under warranty. Car is 09 vrs octavia fl.

All purpose cleaner? Any examples. Is there automotive stuff or are you just talking about any all purpose cleaner.

Yea I was thinking about 200 to 250. Not sure about the demand for standard wheels tho. Need to do some homework as to fitments. Guy that I looking new wheels off saying 8.5x18 front and 9.5x18 rear and use the tyres off my standard rims. Is that not a stretch on the rears or is that normal. Not a big wheel tech guy as you can prob tell. Lol.

Been looking at new wheels for my fl vrs estate but was wondering could I sell the original alloys. Good condition as I think they recently refurbished. But how much would they be worth with no tyres. Will try post a pic tomorrow if I get a chance. I understand this is not the for sale section but as yet they are not for sale as I don't have any replacements lol.

I unfortunately worked in a halfords after getting paid off out of engineering. Luckily for me I am very comfortable around cars but most of the other younger staff that where university students where givin very little or no training. Just told to pick it up as they go. Witch lead to a lot of broken headlights and fried fuse boxes. Also in one case a Vauxhall tigra electric roof being broke while having a radio fitted. Very nice. Scary place. Good for buying polish in tho when doing 3 for 2 offers lol.

A car landing on your face or chest will probably kill you. Definitely get good set of stands and a good Jack. Most of the time you will only need one stand for working on one side. Also sump plugs with Allen key fixings do my head in as they can round of easily but if you use a cheap Allen key it can help round it off because they are so soft and sh.t. good Allen key and about a 12 inch bit of pipe and you should be grand. Sometimes there as a hex on the outside as well for a socket. Usually a 17mm or so. If so go for that option as its much stronger. Unfortunately it is true that good tools make jobs easier and last longer. Good luck

when I say one week old I mean I picked it up 1 week ago but its an 09 reg and basically the dealer had outside spotless but never touched under the bonnet. bit disappointed but hey.
-
Had my Octavia for about a week now and although the outside and interior are gleaming under the bonnet aint so hot. very dusty looking all over. has anyone had their engine bay steam cleaned or is this bad for electrics and oil seals ect ect. or do I need to do it the old fashioned by hand over many hours. any advice welcome cheers

so far so good. will take a few weeks to get used to the car and find any niggles that annoy me. pulls like a train. cant wait till warranty is near up and I can get her mapped with possibly exhaust and induction kit. maybe a dump valve as I love the sound of a petrol turbo blowing off. lol -

Cheers. Got the car yesterday. Drove from London to stranrear with no problems. Have noticed handbrake is bit stiff and slight dash rattle. But seen fixes for both on here. Well pleased so far. -
